Pepsi pulls ad that is deemed too pro-police

The one with the Kardashian?

I don’t think that it was pulled because it was pro-police. It was pulled because maybe using a protest march to sell Pepsi was tacky.

They could have staged a concert, or a festival, or a parade. But they staged a protest and a happy Kardashian saving the day by providing Pepsi.

Sorry, I forgot, Kendall is a Jenner. Her sisters are Kardashians.
 
That is funny, I thought the ad was anti-police and pro-SJW.

They pulled because libs thought it was minimizing their protests

More or less.

Most of the outrage I saw was because they felt that they are trivialising police brutality (ie marching peacefully and handing police a can of pepsi will make everything disappear). People also said that the shot of Kendall handing the drink to the cop looks like a famous shot of a black woman and a cop during a protest. I personally can see only a little resemblance. If the similarity was intentional, it’s not tasteful at all.

I can understand the outrage but honestly, I think pepsi was just trying to have an ad that promotes peaceful protests, but it was misunderstood.

Anyway, offensive or not, the ad was honestly really awkward and it made me cringe. :o

Edit: MLK’s daughter also commented on it. I think most of us can agree that the ad was a little tone deaf at least.

(although I think the hatred for this is kind of…too much.)

I thought it was a reference to those hippies who put flowers in the rifle barrels of the military police during the 60’s.

pretty darn degrading, imho :confused:
 
The truth is … Pepsi and other companies should be refraining from politically polarizing ads.
 
It was pulled because it was tacky, insensitive, profiting from the civil rights struggle.

From some of the other places that picked this story up, it seems to me, they are trying to push the reason for pulling as being too pro police.

Here about a month ago one of our local schools cancelled some kind of ‘meet and greet’ event with local police, that was originally planned to better kids views on the police, but after a few school board members and parents complained that having police in the schools with their kids may frighten them, it was cancelled. It was a hot topic for that week!

Sort of reminds me when i was in 3rd or 4th grade, our school had the local police come in for something similar, back then they were focused on preventing kidnapping and what to do if you were kidnapped, so at this event they fingerprinted all the kids, took pictures of them, and made it sort of a fun thing, they gave out snacks, toys, etc and we all thought they were collecting all this info for safety reasons…however upon growing up and having a couple friends that were cops at the time, I learned events like this are more about ensuring they have all the kids fingerprints on file for when they grow up and become adults, making it easier to identify them if any of them get into trouble.

I do not know if they take this same approach today though, but I do think if parents and the school had known the real reason back then, many of them would have wanted the event cancelled.

SHOCKING if true. :eek:

I am not terribly pro-police (though ,of course, I don’t want them killed off the face of the earth, just reformed), but this does ultimately surprise me that much. 👍:rolleyes:

The right shouldn’t blindly defend the police. Their unions in many cases and their anger and arrogance have done great damage to our nation.
