Please provide evidence that anyone except male prostitutes would ever have to have this done. Thank you.
Regarding the bigger picture of the costs of homosexuality for the healthcare system, I heard it’s about 33 bn/year (for comparison Alzheimer’s disease costs 200 bn/year). The costs are due in part to expensive antiviral treatments for HIV/AIDS, mental health problems such as depression, and long-term side-effects of HIV infection including lypodystrophic disease (loss of muscle mass, accumulation of fat tissue) and dementia. Apparently, the average lifespan of active homosexuals is about 20 years shorter than that of the average population, due to AIDS, depression, suicide and other health problems. For comparison, the average lifespan of tobacco users is about 6 years shorter, due to lung cancer and other problems.
These are sensitive issues that do not get exposed and discussed in the popular media, in contrast to say, the negative effects of smoking or substance abuse (alcohol, drugs). And while cigarette ads must carry a warning from the Surgeon General regarding the negative effects of smoking on health, public health authorities do nothing to increase awareness of the toll of homosexuality on the individuals involved. As long as the general population shoulders the much increased healthcare costs of gays (one year’s medical treatment around $40,000 per person), it would make sense to talk about ways of reducing homosexuality (think reducing smoking), but instead we are publicly stuck at “celebrating it”. We do have “cease smoking” initiatives, but not “cease practicing homosexuality” initiatives.
There may even come a time when mental health professionals offering help to gay people who wish to “go straight” will be labeled “hateful” and prevented practicing, if the gay lobby can have its way. Another interesting aspect is that the gay lobby really hates and tries to silence those former homosexuals who successfully transitioned to being straight and try to speak out in help of other gay people who wish to do the same. The gay lobby promotes the myths of “born gay” and “once gay, always gay”, and yes, they are full of hate towards former gays who are living testimonies to the untruth of said myths.
This is of course not to say that it’s easy to refrain from practicing homosexuality or that “going straight” would be easy or even possible for all gays. But single heterosexuals also have to fight their own hard battles to stay chaste, and married people do the same in order to stay faithful.
