I would not say the ad was exactly “pushing the gay lifestyle.” I think they were acknowledging that it exists, while as*** you can see the two other guys are shocked and disgusted.***Exactly.!! This commercial can be looked at in a way that shows disapproval for the gay agenda:shrug:

As for giving money to pro-gay-marriage causes … that one does bother me. But I don’t drink the bubbly stuff, of any brand – it doesn’t agree with my stomach.

No, you misunderstand completely. The only thing Buffalo does is try to promote the anti-gay agenda. Gay people do not affect you in any way at all. They live their lives and you live yours. There is no reason to constantly go against them. Prejudism is NOT Christian.
There is absolutely every reason to oppose homosexual behavior. It is an abomination - completely against natural law.

I really find it amusing how people try to use our Christianity against us. It is absolutely Christian to admonish the sinner. It is an act of mercy. Tolerance of homosexuality as an “alternative” lifestyle is not Christian.

Problem with this situation is that admonishng becomes persecuting in some cases.

Have you heard how in MA public school textbooks for elementary school kids now include texts saying that homosexuality is objectively disoriented and we should love the sinner and hate the sin? Also, how they made it illegal for adoption agencies to place kids with homosexual couples? Have you seen in San Francisco, visiting the Arts Museum, the welcome message of the President of the Museum in their brochure, telling that he is a Christian and how he celebrates his beliefs? How in CA Christian Organizations have sued and won large settlements against Hospitals that perform sex-change operations?

You haven’t seen, haven’t heard these news? Really?

Oops, I just realized the stories above contain some inaccuracies. So, let me correct.

The textbooks in MA contain stories about gay couples, “celebrating diversity”. And a parent was arrested because he asked the teachers to notify him in advance and let him opt out his child of any activities promoting gay indoctrination. Also, the Catholic adoption agency in Boston, MA was closed because they made it illegal for them to follow their conscience and not to place kids with gay couples. Also, the brochure of the Arts Museum of SF has a welcome message from the president on the first page, telling us that he is gay and he celebrates it. Also, I skewed up the hospital story, because in reality a Catholic Hospital was sued in CA and made to pay, after they refused to perform a breast enhancement operation on a man who has previously undergone a sex-change operation elsewhere and now considers himself a woman.

So, I’m a little bit disoriented now, regarding who persecutes whom, and who is trying to shove his values down the throats of everybody else? Could someone explain to me, please?

I suppose there is fruit to be had in addressing this tired complaint that those who oppose the homosexual agenda are somehow fixated on the issue to the detriment of other, worthier causes. Of course, this complaint fails to recognize the sheer gravity of same-sex attraction and its frightening potential to upend society in such a way as to increase the numbers of children in group homes, homeless on the streets and drug addicts.

Like it or not, the Pepsi advertisement in question is meant to encourage in the minds of those who watch it an equivalence between same-sex and opposite-sex relationships. The shocked expressions on the faces of the principle man’s friends at the end of the advertisement do nothing to mitigate the indoctrination the advertisement is meant to inculcate. It is a direct affront to the proper and holy use of the human sexual faculty.

It is important to harp on this since this and other matters of sexual morality constitute the primary area of challenge the authority of the Church. No one challenges the morality involved in adopting a needy child, giving food and shelter to the homeless nor of helping a drug addict break the addiction cycle. As such, harping on these issues is a pointless exercise. Since there is widespread apostasy in the Church regarding issues of same-sex attraction, a emphasis on such issues is just and proper.

The sarcasm was not necessary. Let me explain what I mean. Have you heard of Gwen Araujo or Brandon Teena? or any of these incidents? In February 2008, transsexual Duanna Johnson was beaten by a police officer while she was held in the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center. Johnson said the officers reportedly called her a “faggot” and “he-she,” before and during the incident.[46][47]. In November 2008, she was found dead in the street, reportedly gunned down by three unknown individuals.[48]
On February 12, 2008, Lawrence “Larry” King, a 15 year old junior highschool student was shot by a classmate at E.O. Green School in Oxnard, California. He was taken off life support after doctors declared him brain dead on February 15. According to Associated Press reports, “prosecutors have charged a 14-year-old classmate with premeditated murder with hate-crime and firearm-use enhancements”.[49][50][51]
In Rochester, New York on March 16, 2008 police say Lance Neve was beaten unconscious because Neve was gay. A man attacked Neve at a bar leaving him with a fractured skull, and a broken nose.[52]
In Baltimore County, Maryland on May 29, 2008 eighteen year old Steven Parrish—a member of the Young Swans subgroup of the Bloods—was murdered by Steven T. Hollis III and Juan L. Flythe after they found “gay messages” on his cell phone. They felt having a gay member would make their gang appear weak and that by killing Parrish they could prevent that perception.[53]
September 7, 2008 - Tony Randolph Hunter, 27, and his partner were attacked and beaten near a gay bar in Washington DC. Hunter later died from his injuries on September 18th. Police are investigating it as a possible hate crime.[1][2]
September 13, 2008 in Denver, Colorado 26 year old Nima Daivari was attacked by a man who called him ******. The police that arrived on the scene refused to make a report of the attack.[54]
November 3, 2008 - Anji Dimitriou and Jane Currie were physically assaulted at an Oshawa, Ontario public school, while waiting to pick up their children. Mark Scott, the attacker, punched both women in the face, referring to them as “men,” “****ing **** bitches” and spitting in Dimitriou’s face. He is in court in Jan. 2009, for two counts of assault causing bodily harm. [3][4]
On November 7, 2008 in Newton, NC the home of openly gay Melvin Whistlehunt was destroyed by arsonists. Investigators found homophobic graffiti spray painted on the back of the house. [55]
On November 14, 2008, transwoman Lateisha Green was shot and killed in Syracuse, NY because the alleged perpetrator thought she was gay.[56] Local news media reported the incident with her legal name, Moses “Teish” Cannon.[57]
On December 7, 2008 Romel Sucuzhanya, a 31 year old straight Equadorean and his brother Jose, were attacked on a Brooklyn, New York street for appearing to be gay and for being Hispanic; they were walking arm-in-arm, which is normal for brothers in their culture. Romel later died from his injuries.[58]
On December 12, 2008 in Richmond, California a 28 year old lesbian was kidnapped and gang raped by four men who made homophobic remarks during the attack.[59]
On December 16, 2008 in Washington, DC Durval Martins, 35, was shot in the head and killed while walking home for a local gay bar. Police said Martins’ cell phone, cash, credit cards and jewelry were still in his possession.[60]
on December 26, 2008 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Avery Elzy and Michael Hunt, a gay couple, were killed in their home along with one of their three dogs. A twenty year old man, Christopher Conwell, was arrested on 31 December and admitted to the murders two weeks later. [61]
On December 27, 2008 in Dayton, Ohio 24 year old Nathan Runkle was brutally assaulted outside a gay nightclub.[62]

So my question is this? When does admonishing become persecution?

That’s very sad… Crimes like these must never happen in civilized countries such as the USA and Canada. One of my colleagues in our group of twenty-something people at the workplace was gay. He worked with us for 5 years, he was a secretary and computer administrator, a friendly fellow, he did a good job, and I never had any problem with him. I also met a former member of our team, he worked for my institute for about 20 years and he was an excellent scientist who made some pioneering research in his field. He was gay, too. It is very saddening that gay people are so often victims of hate crimes. I think we Catholics must speak out in defense of gay and lesbian people. Their sexual orientation is disordered, but they are precious children of our heavenly Father and deserve the same protection and safety as anybody else. Btw, premarital sex, fornication, adultery, pornography, masturbation and other sexual behaviors are also disordered, but we don’t often hear about people being attacked and murdered on the streets because of their engaging in such behaviors. I recognize, you had an important point to make. Sorry for misunderstanding you.

No problem. You made an excellent point as well.

Did you watch it to the very end? The guy hits on another guy. Amazing!😦
Don’t dare speak out against it or you’ll be accused of INTOLERANCE.

Decades and decades of ‘tolerance’ have led to this.

Just watched the ad, what’s the big deal?

A gay guy chose a hot guy over 2 girls? so?

It’s not like it’s saying “being gay is cool! become gay!”

The problem is desensitization.

Furthermore, if Pepsi indeed is giving out this kind of money to promote/support these type of organizations and their agendas, then they actually doing something harmful to our society.

How is it harmful to society at all in a non-religious way?

Please explain what you mean by ‘going against them.’

If you are Catholic and believe in the Ten Commandments, and if you have read St. Paul’s letters, you will know that biblically speaking, homosexual acts are gravely sinful.

Are Christians expected to approve of and embrace sinfulness?

How is it harmful to society at all in a non-religious way?
Your response is part of the harm that has been inflicted on society in recent times. I don’t know what you mean by a “non-religious way”. Those spots should not exist but are better suited for porno movies & sites. Young are easily impressionable & growing at ease with the 1st one that will gratify ungrounded “feelings” is detrimental to the individual & society.

Following Christ is to be as we live our lives, not just between blessing yourself, putting in your requests & saying Amen.

Umm…why? becuase they said someone was checking him out?

How is it harmful to society at all in a non-religious way?
What is it supposed to mean “harmful to society in a non-religious way”? Either you believe that the moral standards of religion are substantively true or you do not. If you believe they are, then it logically follows that deviation from that standard creates substantive harm to society.

It isn’t as if religion is true only in some abstract, conceptual, disembodied sense. Religion and the dangers warned about by deviation from her moral standard are as real as the keyboard I am typing on at this moment.

The ad in question is harmful in that it implies the equivalence of same-sex and opposite-sex pairings. Such an ethic, widely accepted, presages the dawn of sexual anarchy. This is a real, substantive danger.

“The militant sinfulness of those who insist on their right to do wrong is overshadowing the world.”

I shake my head at the way young people have been brainwashed by so-called institutions of learning.

Sailor,

The problem is obvious. I give credit to those who visit these forums even if they come here with the brainwashing and
“test” out there thinking. Where would they find the truth if not here.

So we must work hard to help them see there is mush more to life and the world.
