No; he was showing that Carol is teaching that we don’t matter. Read the whole thread. 😉
I never said Gentiles do not MATTER. In Judaism, they MATTER, but in a DIFFERENT WAY than Jews do.

We believe that just as men and women have different roles to play, so do Jews and Gentiles.

DIFFERENT does not mean LESS than or BETTER than.

And at least we do not condemn anyone not belonging to Judaism as going to hell. We recognize that the truly righteous of ALL faiths and nations have a share in the World to Come. We do not dismiss anyone as forever lost, just because they don’t belong to our religion, or see things our way.

You sound very Catholic.

I’ve changed my mind about leaving this forum, folks. But its not because of anything anyone has said to me here.

It seems that God did in fact send me here, but not for the reason some of you might think.

Some very beautiful things have been happening behind the scenes as a result of my presence here, and I never cease to be amazed at the power of God, and how He works! But as my late mother used to always say to me, “God works in mysterious ways”. 🙂

He knew there was a need here (actually, two needs), that could be fulfilled. Please don’t ask specifics, I won’t violate anyone’s privacy and trust.

I won’t be on here as much as I have been the last few days, due to offline responsibilities. But I will definitely at least check my PM.

God bless!

CarolsDaughter
I hadn’t read this post (#129), so I thought it was time we close… iI prefer that it go on for a while… in shalom, of course!

My point was to point out that FoA is not using logic, and sarcastically questioning his proof of something silly.

FoA was trying to teach that we don’t matter.
I think the underlying question was: “Why should it matter to Jews and not also to non-Jews?”

Different events but same results. Thousands were killed, tortured etc, don’t you think. God Bless
Here is some interesting information, along with the website.

" - The dreaded Spanish Inquisition in particular has been grossly exaggerated. It executed about 880 persons. It did not persecute millions of people, as is often claimed, but approximately 44,000 between 1540 and 1700, of whom less than two per cent were executed… about 880 persons."
biblia.com/christianity/spanish.htm

Using numbers that are known, scholars have been able to surmise that approximately 2,000 people died in the Medieval Inquisition. (1231-1400 AD)
davidmacd.com/catholic/inquisition.htm

I have to say, the second website, provided a little better understanding.

Any deaths to religous persecution is wrong, but, the point I was making was that Carole’s Daughter was getting the two issues confused in her posts.

What would you do in the following situation?

Lets say all the people who have posted in this tread have a disease that will kill us. Then someone posts a message in this tread to say they had the same disease but they have been miraculously cured. Then this person tells us all how they were cured and if we did what they did we all would be cured too. Well i think it’s quite obvious that everyone will do what this person did to be cured of their deadly disease and so live!

Now God says the following in His Word;

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Also Jesus said the following;

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. John 14:6

Where you will spend eternity is a very serious issue and God is very serious about the fact that if you reject Jesus as your savior you will spend eternity in hell but if you accept Jesus as your only savior you will go to heaven.

For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

There are a lot of snake oil salesmen in the world.

But snake oil salesmen don’t put their cures out there free of charge.
there are usually a few shills in the audience who get a free bottle and then testify to how great it is. Next thing you know people are buying the cure and believing its working even when their symptons don’t go away.

What are we talking about again?

First of all-the only one who can judge whether or not someone gets into heaven is God. No man can make that call. So you either misunderstand or the person doing the supposed condemning is speaking falsely.

Whether or not you get into heaven has nothing to do with what religion you belong to…it’s about having a personal relationship with God and serving and obeying Him. The Bible teaches us that because of sin, it is impossible to have that kind of communion with God…God, by his very nature, cannot accept sin into His kingdom…it’s like mixing oil and water…it can’t be done.

Without someone atoning for those sins (which we are all born with-no one is exempt), the human race is lost. That’s where Jesus and His sacrifice come into play. By his death (the wages of sin is death), and resurrection-the price for sin has been paid once and for all. By his blood our sins are covered and we can enter a personal relationship with God and ultimately grant access to the Kingdom of Heaven.

BUT-we have to accept this call and be obedient to God’s will. A person can either choose to believe this and embrace it, or he can choose not to believe it. It’s up to him (or her)… But part of being obedient is for us to share this truth, in a spirit of love, outlined in the Bible. If this is “shoving religion down someone’s throat”, then I’m sorry you see it that way.

I will give you that some Christians (of all denominations) can be quite obnoxious, or even downright hateful about it. They are not being obedient to God’s will either. That’s their problem.

I applaud you for your work in teaching folks about different religions to encourage tolerance and peace. But I think it’s interesting that the very thing that makes you want to leave this forum is also what you do in your missions-prostalytizing. Also bear in mind, the internet brings out the best and the worst-so please do not be so quick to pass judgment on a group as a whole based on the words and actions of a few.

again, you sound very Catholic caroles daughter. The church is not condemning, is not against jews, but for them, and calls them God’s chosen people. the fact that some have not recognised Jesus as saviour and messiah is just that, a fact.

The church, which was before any other church, the same Church God started, and the only one God started, believes that many people from other religions believing in one God will be saved. They are implictly part of the Catholic church.

you should really read the catechism before making judgements.

See, this is the problem I have with both Islam and Christianity…the idea that they, and of course ONLY they, have the exclusive truth.

I spent most of this afternoon attending a vigil/protest for the Tibetan Buddhists being oppressed and tortured by the Communist Chinese. One thing I admire about Buddhists is the fact that they respect the religions of everyone.

In fact, the Tibetan national flag is open on one side, to symbolize the fact that Tibetan Buddhists respect all religious traditions, and that in Tibet (except for the current Communist control of their nation), there is normally complete religious freedom for all.

What a breath of fresh air when compared with the two religions in history that have shed more blood in the name of their god than any other.

perhaps it is. but before you do, i leave you with this simple truth,

“by your fuits you shall be judged.”

now. tell me how many hospitals, shelters and overall good deeds do hindus, budhists, moslems etc etc etc have established for the world’s poor. the roman catholic church is well documented in this area.

perfect? not by a longshot. the catholic church is the first to acknowledge its sinner state.

you have found the correct ship, do not abandone it as it takes in water, do not be like rats, for they jump ship at the first sign of trouble.

stay and help. ‘right’ out the storm.

If I may ask, to have been acting as a countermissionary for so many years to bring Jews back to Judaism, you must be convinced that Judaism has the truth, or aren’t you? (I don’t know whether you would think of an exclusivity or not, though…)😃

I agree that we should respect people from different religions but if a person truly loves all people then they must be truthful with them.

Remember in the Torah the example of Cain & Abel, that God accepted Abel’s offering but He rejected Cain’s offering. This clearly shows us that God demands that man must come to Him by His appointed way. Now God has declared in His Word that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and so all other efforts to get to God are false.

You see the law of gravity means that if you jump off a building you will fall to the ground and it doesn’t matter if you don’t believe in gravity you will still fall to the ground. Now God has clearly stated in His Word that Jesus Christ is the only way to God, this is a fact like gravity and not believing in this won’t change this fact.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

I believe (as Judaism does), that Judaism is the right religion FOR JEWS. Gentiles have more freedom in that regard, because they can join any religion they want as long as its not one that causes harm to other people.

What about satanism, do you think that’s ok for Gentiles?

As I said, Gentiles (in Judaism’s belief) are free to follow any religion they wish, as long as it does not hurt anyone.

I don’t know much about satanism, but from the little I read, don’t they harm people as part of their beliefs?

Not that I know of. If they preached to love others in the name of Satan, do you think that would be ok for Gentiles?
