Not that I know of. If they preached to love others in the name of Satan, do you think that would be ok for Gentiles?
I have read that satanists have been known to kill people in the name of their beliefs. From Judaism’s POV, satanism is a fallacy anyway, since satan has no power apart from what God lets him have, for serving God’s purposes (see the Book of Job for the accurate Jewish perception of the satan).

I think everyone has been known to kill people in the name of their beliefs, even Buddhists.

Satan is yetzer hara the evil inclination in Judaism. But satanists usually believe satanism is all about everyone being a god, as was Satan’s message to Eve. That’s what much of Buddhism is about too, human ascension. You indicated you admired their beliefs.

So anyway would you see any harm in that kind of satanism as a religion, as long as they didn’t hurt anyone, just to strive for godhood?

I’ve never heard of a satanism that doesn’t believe in harming people, but if as you say, there is one, I’d see no problem with Gentiles being involved as long as they harmed no one.

It really doesn’t affect Jews or Judaism…as long as Jews follow the Eternal Covenant God made with us, and as long as Gentiles follow the 7 Laws of Noah (basic laws of morality and decency), it would be OK with me.

I admire what is GOOD and MORAL in all religions, and reject what is not. This is how I can see the good in other religious traditions without accepting or joining those religions.

Just wanted to let everyone know, I decided to change my handle to make it one of a more spiritual nature (I used to be known as “CarolsDaughter”.)

Thanks,

One Lord indeed (actually “The-Name is God”, it’s either Adonai - the Lord, or Hashem - The Name)! I think it’s perfectly fitting!)👍

Now, about Satanism, I can’t see there would be any form that would not hurt the souls of those taking part in it, since Satan is against God. There might be mild-looking forms, but they might be even worse because they LOOK like they are mild forms.

I believe (as Judaism does), that Judaism is the right religion FOR JEWS. Gentiles have more freedom in that regard, because they can join any religion they want as long as its not one that causes harm to other people.
And the Gentiles also have the option of attending a synagogue. They can’t be part of a minyon, but they are admitted as what used to be called “God-fearing people”. Not as Jews, but as people believing and adhering to the revealed God of the Bible… without being per se tied by all the Commandments of the Torah, just the Noahide, as you previously said. Isn’t it true?

Now, when you say Judaism is the right religion, aren’t you implying that there no other right religion for them, in your view?

But, if a Jew leaves Judaism for Christianity, or any other religion, doesn’t it make you wonder if they were really a Jew in spirit? Also, shouldn’t they allowed to be able to make that choice without someone trying to “bring them back”?

It isn’t about restoring someone’s heritage, or birthright, it is what God is calling them to do with their life. It is just one of the many ways that God nourishes our soul.

By the way, you never did answer one of my questions posted very early on. Why did you start a thread to tell peope that you were leaving, instead of just responding to their PM’s? Just curious.

I asked my pal the local rebbe about this. The answer she gave was a typical Jewish answer (well thought out and expansive).

There’s a theory among American Jews that all Jews are converts in spirit. The urge to assimilate and leave one’s own tradition behind is so strong, that every American Jew ought to be seen as a Jew by choice, rather than by birth.

With that in mind, the Jews in this particular community encourage Jews to pursue what makes them happiest, whether that means becoming a new Jew, or leaving Judaism for something else.

The local rebbe did make it clear that she wished the “messianic Jews” would call themselves Christians, noting that it is fine to be a Christian, but you should identify with what you truly are, not what you left behind. She does not agree with being a “counter-missionary” but she does argue for “truth in advertising”.

I don’t have a dog in the Jew -vs- Catholic battles, and I’m not going to jump into the arena as a gladiator on either side. I just thought it was an interesting answer to a question that was first posited here on the RC forum.

And to think that when Christianity started, they didn’t have a name, and probably meant to be a new branch in Judaism, albeit a suspicious one in the eyes of the Jewish authorities of Jesus’ public period… They themselves apparently called it “the Way”, according to the Acts of the Apostles. It’s outsiders who started to call Jesus’ disciples “Christians” and the name has stuck with us ever since…

In fact, the Tibetan national flag is open on one side, to symbolize the fact that Tibetan Buddhists respect all religious traditions, and that in Tibet (except for the current Communist control of their nation), there is normally complete religious freedom for all.
There is a current trend in the West to romanticize Tibet. Yet, it is has a long history, including conquering and enforcing Buddhism as a state religion.

Buddhism is not always peaceful. One only has to look at the history of Cambodia over the last 40 years or so, including its support of the Khmer Rouge.

I’m not condemning the religion, just saying, people of all beliefs are capable of extreme violence.

I would say yes, other than Judaism, there are no other religions out there that suit Jews. Is that the shocker you were looking for?

Are you saying that a person who adheres to the Jewish religion is suited to Judaism? If so, I would agree, yeah, shocker.

Or, is this thread about what religion is suitable to a Jewish race? If it is this, than I have to admit I don’t get how it can be said that there is only one religion suited to a particular race.

We’re not a race. Do we really need to debate whether Judaism is for Jews?

No. Just trying to understand. To me it sounds like Christianity is for Christians. But maybe that was your point.

Good Information, thanks.

If two white Europeans live in china and have a baby and that baby becomes a chinese citizen, is that baby now chinese? 🙂

I am no more a supporter of Jews for Jesus than I am a supporter of Natives for Mormonism. The parallels are inspirational (only). :tsktsk:
