Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration

I cannot receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist since I am not Catholic. I do intend to convert one day.

Don’t delay, start the process straight away. Your posts on this thread have ‘Catholic’ stamped all over them. Go to the priest and start the process. Don’t wait.

The Holy Eucharist withing the Catholic Church is more powerful than you cn imagine to those open to Truth. It was the Holy Eucharist in the monstrance that brought me a peace I had never experienced all my life! I KNEW it was HIM PRESENT!!! This is something so powerful that if you are at al open withing your spiritual walk in Christ…you will NOTICE! His presents brings peace and clarity to my life…! Praise e to God, He is present!

Hello to the OP. I agree with the others, it sounds as though you are discerning a call to the Catholic faith. I hope you will join the Church soon so that you may be blessed with the fullness of the faith and sacraments.

I have been discerning a call to assist in our Parish’s Perpetual Adoration. I was literally just called on the phone by the woman who organizes it and since I’d been thinking about it for a few weeks I asked if a particular spot was open that I felt I could commit to and she said yes, so I said I’d be interested in signing up. Now I’m scared, because I don’t take commitments lightly and therefore don’t make long term commitments often. I’m sure it will be okay, I just feel nervous because I don’t want to let our Lord down.

There is nothing to be scared or nervous of. You won’t let Him down. What seems initially like a commitment will soon grow to become something you will look forward to eagerly each week, it will not feel like a commitment at all. The more you do it, the more you will understand, the more you will want to do it.

And if on those very rare occasion when something comes up in your life were you can’t make it that week, then you will find someone to cover for you. God will understand.

There will always be times where someone cannot make their commitment. There is usually a system set up where you can call someone on a list who is a sub. I am sure there are many ways this can be worked out in parishes who have Perpetual Adoration.

Adoration will be such a blessing to you! It is so needed today.

You are loved by the Lord way beyond your imagination!

I, too, find this to be a very special and intimate time for me to spend with our Lord. I am glad that you took the time to visit with Him in such a way and that you will continue to do so!!!

Today, I spent about an hour in the chapel for PEA for a little over an hour. This is at the church where my husband is a parishioner. It was a humbling as well as amazing experience. The Blessed Sacrament was not out on the altar, but in the tabernacle.

I didn’t bring my rosary with me, as I didn’t plan on stopping in the chapel until the last minute. Falling asleep was neither good nor bad, you were obviously tired. As the tabernacle was closed then there was no actual need for a person to be present and watching. I’ve heard quiet snores before from someone behind me during exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and I believe Mother Teresa also fell asleep on occasion in front of the Blessed Sacrament. If the Blessed Sacrament is exposed there always needs to be at least one person watching, usually two are on a rota for this, but even in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament if it’s not your rota turn and there are other people present, I wouldn’t worry about it, although it may distract others a little (depending on how loudly you snore).

It probably reflected a feeling of awe, on your part, of being in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. That is a good thing.

I spent the next 45 minutes sort of trembling in my chest. Not my legs, just my chest. It made it hard to breathe. I prayed the Rosary, and then prayed for the Holy Souls, spent some time gazing at the Lord and read in my prayer book. When my hour was up I didn’t feel like leaving yet, but I appreciated having time alone with the Lord so much that I felt I should let the next person enjoy the same.
