It seems that there are a lot of single women and single men on this thread. Does CAF have a singles group? šŸ˜‰ 😃
Don’t look at me. I have finally made peace with my singleness, and the more I hear things like the stuff in this thread, the happier I am to stay that way. I am eagerly looking forward to what God has in store for me. I sure hope it takes me out of Tallahassee. šŸ‘

Don’t really look at me, either. I’m in Europe. You Yankees have a couple of things I appreciate in people, but flights are expensive.

Lol… Well, OKCupid returns just a couple of > 80% matches (which means no more than 83% anyway) for me from within 500 km of me and just about ten in between 70-80%, while setting ā€œanywhereā€ returns a sizeable number of > 90% matches from the States… and a rare match that isn’t from there is likely to be from the UK. Life kinda confirms I get a better rapport with the Anglo-Saxon race than any other. Wonder what gives. šŸ˜› (hides cowboy waistcoat from public view)

😃 I guess the person would have to be pretty special to justify starting up an extra-long-distance relationship! Is there an American embassy nearby? šŸ˜‰

Lol, to be honest, if I were a six digit earner, I wouldn’t think twice before flying there or there… or there… but I’m kinda new in my current field and thinks take time to click. šŸ˜‰ Long story short, flying within Europe is cheap, but outside Europe is a whole different cup of fish. 😃 I ask myself regularly why I went to study law and not archaelogy… Hehe. In fact, there’s also a pattern of foreignness among my exes and could-have-beens, though I’m very aware of how much nationality affects things. šŸ˜‰

Sorry, that was a lot of technical jargon. Basically, OKCupid is a social networking or maybe even a dating portal that’s the most famous for its quizzes anyway (which is the primary thing one does there). Everyone has percentage ā€œMatchā€, ā€œFriendshipā€ and ā€œEnemyā€ values with everyone. The names are pretty much self-explanatory and the values are derived from answers to lots of questions to which users can also assign more or less importance as they deem necessary (ā€œMandatoryā€ is a biggie, there’s an ā€œIrrelevantā€ option and 2 or 3 in between). When you fill in the search criteria (age, sex, location and more), it gives you (ā€œreturnsā€, as IT folks say) 100 matches - the method is somewhat random if it can find more than that, so searching a couple of times may produce different results. Observing the algorithms (for matching and for some other things) at work is quite an educative experience. I sometimes go through the highest matches I get and try to find qualities that appear to be in common among them or common with me in order to get some valuable data for my brain to crunch.
