Ok I don’t normally let stuff like this bother me but I went into a deli earlier today and caught the phrase “That girl who just pulled up” I was the only girl who had just pulled up and I didn’t know anyone at this deli. I rarely go in there. Maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Anyway I didn’t pay much attention to their conversation I’m not a nosy person but when I walked up to the counter to ordered a sandwich to go. The guy behind to counter was laughing outrageously and said he didn’t work there but he should. He pointed out another girl standing on the opposite side of the deli who had just ignored me till then. I preceded to order the sandwich again with the guy still laughing in the background and the girl curtly taking the order treating me as a great inconvenience. I found this all very rude especially as I was a customer and didn’t know any of these people. I’m wondering if they didn’t know my sister and had us confused but I can’t imagine what she would do either to warrant such treatment. I proabably should have just left when the guy started laughing but it wasn’t till I thought about that it all really started to bother me. Needsless to say that’s one deli I won’t go back to. 🤷

That’s wierd…

I probably would have asked the guy what was so funny or maybe even asked for a manager.

If he didn’t work there, then why was he behind the counter?

I’m tempted to go back and tell them straight up how rude I thought they behaved and that they’ve permantly lost a good customer. Or at the very least let them know they lost a good customer. 🤷 What really gets me is this is a family business and not one of those chains that are everywhere. You think they would want to keep customers even if for what ever reason they didn’t like them. 🤷

They obviously don’t care, but the person/people actually running the business might. If you still want to do something by tomorrow, call and see if you can talk to the actual owner(s)**

Especially with a small business, the owner should know how his employees treat customers. You’re probably not the only person they’ve treated that way and it’s bad for business. The owner is interested in the bottom line. Best way to do it is write a letter and not when you’re still angry. Letters are taken more seriously than an in-person or phone complaint and can be put in an employee’s file. Consumers should always speak up and make a nuisance of themselves when they’re not happy. It’s the only way to get anything done.

Possibly more in their own world than in any intent of having some fun at your expense. Weird stuff that’s better ignored. You have a ton of better things to think about than that. It’s not worth your time. If they were really rude to the point their behaviour might harm the business, you might tell them to manner up and then speak to the manager if they reacted with further improper behaviour. But only if it really was that kind of rude, not just an embarrassing etiquettal failure.
