The stuff that happens to atheist or Christians in most of the West aren’t good, but do not rise to persecution.
Relatively speaking, and in general, yes. However, I would say that there has been some significant persecution of Christianity in public and private in the West in my observation. Perhaps you feel you have stories of your own of the same.

agreed, i know a number of atheists who feel they should be running the country/world, because they were much smarter than those who hold religious beliefs. some also believe the world would be a better place if certain people were simply ‘eliminated’. then, they could get on with re engineering the human race into the perfect world where everyone thinks like them.
We get a lot of liberal left wing atheists arguing with the right wing atheists about politics on a forum I view,.religion often is referred to if anything is being discussed about Islamic terrorism.
What annoys me, is that the “lefties” seem to have no problem seeing the worst in Christianity, but any criticism of Islam is viewed by them as being racist or discriminatory so they start throwing accusations.

Not that I would want Muslims to be judged by the actions of extremist fanatics, when those I know personally are nothing like that.
I’m actually glad to hear someone defend the good ones, I do it myself, but not the way they do, by bashing Christians and bringing up the crusades and so on just to show solidarity with the Muslim minority.

Given that atheism caused the premature deaths of over 100 million people last century, it rather makes sense that people would be less likely to vote for atheist politicians.
You employ a special type of logical ability I rarely see on these boards. I think it would be cherrio fantastic if you could stand behind that sentiment in the Philosophy forum so those readers can evaluate the basis for your logic.
Up for it?

Oh well, society nowadays lives by double standards. Go figure. 🤷
