If one is looking for a way to be offended, one can usually find a way.

Oh brother, this is REALLY getting stupid.

I got carried away with the original, but instead of it deleting it, I hit the wrong button. Sorry for the rant folks.

I don’t understand why businesses pay any attention to this nonsense.

Personally Im not buying any products from companies that do homage to political correctness.

I must pretty blind but after reading the article in this post, I still don’t see what all the squawking is about. I don’t shop Trader Joes so I’m lost on this one.

What I thought of earlier, is what’s next?
Juan Valdez is a fictional character who has appeared in advertisements for the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia since 1958, representing a Colombian coffee farmer. The advertisements were designed by the Doyle Dane Bernbach ad agency, with the goal of distinguishing 100%-Colombian coffee from coffee blended with beans from other countries. He typically appears with his mule Conchita,[1] carrying sacks of harvested coffee beans. He has become an icon for Colombia as well as coffee in general, and Juan Valdez’s iconic appearance is frequently mimicked or parodied in television and other media.

It seems people could have problems with this, the way we are going though they say they like him in Colombia.

Even the Spanish language and perhaps others, may run into trouble just because of how they are different than English. The gendered nouns, pro-nouns and just it’s perception.

I think we are, yes, out of control.

Chiquita bananas?? It can go on and on.

Speaking of Colombia, obviously named for Columbus. Where will this end? And the Spanish mindset is just a bit different. We will see. I certainly respect Indigenous Peoples. Does it not end until we give their land back?

You might begin to understand why by checking out the first two minutes and forty seconds of this video.

What Hulk Hogan did was very serious from what I remember. It was using racial epithets I believe.

Having some food from the Middle East, let’s say couscous and calling it’s brand name “Arab Joe” or something, this is a whole different thing.

These kinds of things don’t compare in my opinion. What’s next? Taco Bell and run for the border?

I believe that is what one is referring to as “nonsense”.

Some things appear wrong, a restaurant changed its name over this once. I think I understand that change. Sure, change things that appear obviously wrong.

It seems this can go on and on.

What was that about the Taco Bell chihuahua? Run for the border?

omg, cancel Taco Bell!

Oh wait, Taco Bell is owned by Yum Brands which also owns KFC.

omg, KFC represents the worst appropriation of the southern stereotype older white guy in Colonel Sanders, cancel them!

Hey, Yum also owns Pizza Hut! Holy cow, look at that cultural appropriation of stereotypical Americanized Italian foods.

To add insult to injury, Yum owns The Habit Burger. Could they somehow bowdlerize that? Adding avocado is cultural appropriation? Let alone combining avocado, bacon and cheese in a burger?

Am I getting a little ridiculous here? You bet… just trying to point out that slippery slope we’re on here. That’s a nice cultural revolution they got going there, be a shame if your favorites got caught up in it.

Sadly, that appears to be the direction we need to go in.
It will not end until all buildings are identical concrete monoliths and businesses are known only by their political neutral identification numbers and foods by their ingredients: ground corn flatbread, not tortilla.

Someone needs to develop an app to keep track of all the things I am supposed to boycott. Make the app free but charge for the daily updates. You can make a fortune until you get cancelled for being rich.

Yes, these racist stereotypes are truly offensive to many.
Wikipedia has listed many of the racist labels used by trader joe’s:
  • Trader Jose’s (Mexican food)
  • Trader Ming’s (Chinese food)
  • Baker Josef’s (flour and bagels)
  • Trader Giotto’s (Italian food)
  • Trader Joe-San (Japanese food)
  • Arabian Joe’s (Middle Eastern food)
  • Pilgrim Joe’s (New England specialties, like clam chowder)
  • JosephsBrau (beer)
  • Trader Jacque’s (French food and soaps)
  • Trader Darwin’s (vitamins and health supplements).
Even Costco is guilty of this racist crime as they sell things like Jose’s coffee. (Which BTW is pretty good).

O.K., I’m confused. So, for the USA to not be racist and to be more inclusive, we now have to REMOVE all names on products that are sold that are not mainstream Anglo names ??? Never mentioning or seeing a non-Anglo name will make the the USA MORE inclusive and think about differences LESS ???
