I’ve donated time and money to human charities. I’ve also donated money to animal charities. I don’t see this as an either/or situation.

Thank you!!! She makes my life fun. She’s a rescue who had a very bad life before I got her. She’s now spoiled rotten – which is as it should be.

My thinking is that they may not be in heaven right now, but that they will somehow be included in the new earth. Maybe they will in some way be “resurrected” at that point or “recreated” somehow? I don’t know how God will do it, but I know nothing is impossible with God.

What fun would the new earth be without ANIMALS?

The question does not cut to the chase at all!!! It shows us that your heart is small and that you are pre-occupied with money. I don’t have the $100.00, so I will personally offer my heart and do something for the suffering human and the animal. And I will comfort the little child who has lost the pet that she loved so dearly, and I will take my dog to the nursing home to comfort all the residents–some of whom are depressed. They all light up when they see my dog!!! He brings joy to them (the aged and sick humans), and I feed him too (the dog)!!! Some of these residents are forgotten by their families, and are spending the last days of their lives alone. And the visits from the animals brighten their hearts. (These people never even notice me–they are so overjoyed with seeing the dog!).
 
Animals have spirits, just like us, so that means they breathe in the Holy Spirit just like we humans do. But, as already said, they do not have eternal souls like we do.

The book of Lamenations explains this: it says that their spirits remain in this world when they die and that our spirits pass on to the next.

I was reading through this thread (I have a 10 year old dog I am very attached to, among other critters, and have often wondered about this… she’s laying next to me as I’m typing), and saw a reply somewhere (can’t seem to find it, now, of course!) about horses having a soul?! anyone know of any reading on that? I’ve been horse-obcessed since I was like 3, I have several now, and have had many many many cross my path (I broke/trained/showed them professionally for years), and find the idea really interesting! I have to admit, though, it bothers me a bit, because not all of them found a place in my heart and I was not very “nice” to some…

an old mare comes to mind. I had her as a teenager, sold her when she was 17 (I’d had her 10 years!), she’s probably gone by now, she’d be in her mid-late 20’s. I’d love to think I could meet her again when I pass on. she was the best, most loyal, honest horse you could ask for… more than some people I know… 🤷
 
:angel1:Well i don’t know if they go to Heaven like humans do, but if God does have some place for pets that have died, I’m sure it’s a very nice place where they can romp and play together, and take it easy, and God probably has good St.Francis of Assi in charge of them.

My heart is concerned with serving the poor and suffering HUMANS:heart:. Imagine what the 20 Billion dollars spent on pets each year could do.

You’re assuming that I don’t care about the suffering of humans. Not only is that totally incorrect that’s very arrogant on your part. I’ve been involved in organizations that do a lot to alleviate the suffering of humans. Just because I want to alleviate the suffering of animals does not lessen my concern for human suffering.

that’s a bit far fetched. one could make arguments for anything at that point. how much money is spent on cars? on furniture? on eating out? some people sacrifice things that most people consider normal, to have animals in their life, is that wrong? do we not all, (assuming most of us do) give to churches and charities? why is it ok to spend 20-30k on a car, 200K on a house, but not to buy dog food? the poor and suffering humans don’t benefit from the car, the curtains on your windows, your computer, your lawn mower, your nike’s, or any other number of things you may have.

that said, many people have/raise animals for a PROFIT. a portion of the money from them (cattle and chickens, in our case) ends up in the hands of the needy, either by way of our taxes or private donations!

so if it’s sinful to have pets and/or livestock and feed and care for them, I’m guilty, as a LOT of others on this thread are, and we will have to answer for it when our time comes. until then, I will continue to live my life with my animals and continue to give what I can, when I can to help others. After all, the critters were made by God too, I can’t imgine he wants us to shoot them and toss them aside to feed the hungry. there is a balance, you know. he DOES want us to be happy.

Not to pick on you, buffalo, but if you opened your heart wider, to include ALL of God’s creation, you just might find the money that you need to help the HUMANS!!! Money only has value for a short while, it does not have a soul. LOVE has a soul that lasts forever. LOVE the little bird that flies past your window. God made him too. Your heart will swell and grow, and as it does, it will be easier for you to HELP the HUMANS–even if you do not have the money.

LOVE and PEACE to you, buffalo. You can’t be all that bad, with that fantastic animal name!!!
 
I have heard that if you need your pet in order to have happiness in heaven then they will be there.
