Pfleger blames conservatives, NRA for troubles

His preaching technique is so “out there” for a Catholic priest. I can just hear him screaming like a Southern preacher (where all good things must be repeated in 3’s)
He does. I’ve been at a sermon in his church.

So, you have a problem with his oratorical practices? That criticism seems highly irrelevant to me. Maybe his manner is very acceptable to his audience?

I’ll ask the same question here that I asked on the now-closed Voris thread. Why is it that (at least on this forum) those, like Fr. Pfleger, that come into some conflict with Church authorities on the “left” are pilloried as disobedient and worse, while those that are in some conflict with authority from the “right,” like Voris, are lauded as persecuted heros?

I’m not so sure of that.

And I disagree with that. You have a ‘for instance’?
For example?
Look, I think he should be transferred, too. But let’s not demonize the priest.
See the Pfelger in action for yourself at Mass in his Vestments. Note date is 4/11/10

Pfelger is not stupid and knows exactly what he his doing.
He was put on leave previously in 2008 by the Cardinal, until he apologized.
He apologized after being forced to do so by Cardinal George of Chicago again in 2010.

Now he is out there again. His vow of obedience means nothing to him.

Then read the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” - which all Catholics are rquired to adhere to. Including you, me and Pfelger.

CCC - - - “1577 Only a baptized man (vir) validly receives sacred ordination.”
The Lord Jesus chose men (viri) to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.
The college of bishops, with whom the priests are united in the priesthood, makes the college of the twelve an ever-present and ever-active reality until Christ’s return.
The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible. "

I really don’t get how Fr. Pflegler feels that the NRA has had an impact on his work assignment?

Sure, he is obviously at odds with the NRA. He pickets guns stores - they write letters. But his bishop really cares about the NRA? It seems like a stretch to me.

The question concerning the ordination of women, has been asked and it has been answered by Pope Benedict.

It’s over.

Pope trumps priest.

:hmmm:

Fr. Pfleger threatened to “snuff-out” (aka murder) gun store owner John Riggio at a rally.

Can you see the difference? Voris is not promoting anything against what the CC teaches. Nothing, nada. Voris is a faifthfull Catholic who fights for what the Church always tought. unlike the priest Pfleger. do you see the difference now?

No, I don’t. I see a priest in good standing with the Church who has some disagreements with his bishop, and a lay preacher who has some different disagreements with a different bishop. Both seem to me to be within the broad arms of the Church, if at opposite ends of her fingertips (so to speak). I see no call for demonizing either of them, especially a priest.

I am not talking about what some bishop thinks. I am talking about what the CC teaches. That is what matters. the Church’s teachings. Pfleger is promoting disobedience, Michael teaches obedience. See the difference yet?

No, I don’t. I don’t know that Fr. Pfleger preaches disobedience - although I understand that he has had some issues with his bishop (but that is very different than preaching disobedience). I know that Voris is not allowed to preach in some diocese because at least those bishops think his preaching is problematic, but I don’t know that amounts to teaching disobedience, either. I think it best to let the bishops handle both issues and not demonize two men who undoubtedly are trying their best to do God’s will.

I dont think you get it. I sugest that you learn what the CC teaches.

Seriously? I don’t agree with you so I must be ignorant? I know what the CC teaches. I don’t know why you feel you are in a position to judge this priest. Rather than demonizing him based on some press accounts, I think we should leave this to his bishop.

Voris is a persecuted hero because he stands for what the Roman Catholic Church actually teaches and has always taught. Those who promote the hateful anti-religion of Leftism are enemies of the Church despite how they may see themselves in their own minds. It’s that simple. That the latter types have so thoroughly infiltrated the Church is a great evil of this epoch. Come Lord Jesus.

It appears that Cardinal George had problems with Pfleger, not Pfleger with the Cardinal.

Pfleger calls for women priests during Homily.

Mass - Pfleger style - talk about liturgical abuse.

Hope he does not teach children either.
I dont mean to be disresptecfull to the priest, but it seems to me that he is trying to build his own Church. just look at how he is dressed. it looks like a Jewish mantle over his shoulder.

Father Pfleger has stated that if he is put outside Saint Sabina, it is the same as being placed outside the Church. To be clear, he did NOT say he would leave the Church; rather, he said the Church was placing him outside the Church. He fights against leaving Saint Sabina and he refuses to take the St. Leo principalship. He also stated that if he is definitely assigned to St. Leo, he will likely resign (or along those lines).

It will be interesting to see what Cardinal George does. That is the real question in the background here.

Folks talk about his oratory and now his vestments? Nice to see we’re dealing with substantive issues.

Look, I’ve been to marriages and funerals at his church. I can tell you that it is well-within liturgical guidelines. More to the point, the cardinal has worshiped at the church, too. I think some of the criticism of Fr. Pfleger are actually disrespectful of the cardinal, if you think about it. You’re talking about his leadership.

I’ve heard plenty of married people say they were trying to work out their problems, but I knew they were just marking time until they got divorced.

Fr. Pfleger’s public statements lead me to the same sad conclusion.

It’s Fr. Pfleger’s way or the highway. 😦

I agree. I think people should not speak of that which they do not know. However, we do know that he is taking a threatening position and that he is being quite defiant in moving from Saint Sabina. Father Pfelger (may God bless him) is not a Pope or a Church unto himself…he is expected to obey just as we all are.
