I suspect that Monsignor William J. Lynn, was a scapegoat that the AG went after, because the Cardinal that the Father Lynn was under, is dead,

In other words, Monsignor William J. Lynn was the only one left who the AG could prosecute.

“Msgr. Lynn said that prosecutors misconstrued his words and memos. He said medical experts had advised him not to seek out other possible victims because the victims might not want to discuss the abuse.”

This is so true for Msgr. Lynn, When I would go to the doctor for a medical checkup I notice a primary physician will not tell you something is wrong and needs action if you the patience are not bothered by it. Of course it has to be non life threatening and you can live with it. Things like nail fungus, blood vessel that could be smoothed out on the face. If your adamant about it then it becomes important but if you not aware doctors will not create a concern where none exist.

I hope you are not saying you don’t support his conviction.

I for one am glad to see this fallen priest face stern justice. How dare he endanger children by his actions.

What I’m saying is, he didn’t work autonomously reporting priest who abused children, nor the policy of sending them for treatment and reassigning them. This is the decision of the Bishop, who he reported to. That Bishop, actually a Cardinal, is dead, so couldn’t be prosecuted.

If you have information that he withheld information about priest committing sexual abuse from the Bishop, and covered up for them, please provide the information,

However, from what I’ve read in the papers, he was found guilty for doing what the Bishop alone had the authority to do, assign priest to ministries.
