As someone who used to work in a large city and walk past the homeless on a daily basis, it made me pause and reflect on what we are called to do and who we are called to be.
This is the new catholic version of Jesus. He wasnt homeless, he had a home to go to all you have to do is ask where was Mary? At home is the anwer. Now he was a traveling preacher. But he had a home to go to.

Jesus certainly had a home, Mark 2:1 says so explicitly. But Jesus also said “What you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me”.
I don’t think the statute is intended to represent a “new catholic version” of Jesus. I think it is intended to remind of that quote. I like it, I like it a lot.

I like this statue as well. Very powerful.

It strikes at the erroneous message of some Christians that wealth is tied to morality and the homeless are that way due to moral weakness or just laziness.

But the actual homeless many of us pass everyday is the face of Jesus. This statue is a reminder of that reality. It’s not meant to be a historical representation.

Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

~ Luke 9:58

The sculpture reminds me of Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:
Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
👍

A comedian once said that he gives money to homeless people on the street, because it just might be Jesus undercover.

I usually don’t buy into this type of thing. But I must say, I kind of like it. And it does indeed cause reflection. However, I hope they prevent defamation of it. I think images of Our Lord should be protected. But as long as people aren’t taking selfies with a bottle on a paper bag by Hos head I’m cool with the concept. Like I said, it makes me think.

It is a powerful symbol!

We also have the Madonna of the Streets, known as the “Madonnina”

I have this picture on a holy card.I love it!🙏
I love it too! We can’t possibly understand the intricacies for why someone is living on the streets, and this image has been with me for a long time!
