The people of the Philippines are very devoted to a special Catholic devotion to Jesus, the Black Nazarere devotion. Then in a great procession every year in Manila they carry a statue of Jesus, black because it was once blackened by fire. This year two and a half million participated in a procession that lasted 22 hours. The Philippines is 85% Catholic, its people devout.

This photo appeared in the newspaper, the Manila Bulletin; an article reporting on this event also appears then: see [news.mb.com.ph/2017/01/10/faith-and-devotion/](http://news.mb.com.ph/2017/01/10/faith-and-devotion/)

Wow, what faith they have. Very inspiring. Thank you very much for sharing this. May God bless you abundantly.

I’ve read that the president isn’t so Catholic-friendly…

Is the Phillipines as polarized as western nations?
