Because they don’t want to be bound to Hell! Even demos hate Hell and suffer there! OP, Read the book “An exorcist Tells His Story” by Father Gabriel Amorth. He was the Vatican’s chief exorcist. That book changed my life!

So we know demons can still roam earth and cause chaos but what does that mean for us?
They are dangerous jerks who hate our guts. They tempt us and do everything in their power to break us apart from God.
What impact does that have on our relationship with God and everything else?
One should give the enemy no thought. As stated earlier, demons attempt to break our ties with God. As long as one receives Communion, confession, regularly, (and is baptized) you are good. Do not let the enemy scare you.
Also I have heard of angels taking on human form in certain situations but would demons have the same ability?
Yes, it is called demonic possession. If you suspect someone is possessed inform your priest immediately. I don’t think they take human form, or else they wouldn’t possess people.
And about possession, would it be possible for a demon to possess a dead corpse?
You’re really interested in this stuff lol. I don’t think they can? Maybe? I’ll let someone else answer that.

All joking aside. I should bring a priest with me every time I walk into target.
lol I know a lot of Catholics myself included probably wouldn’t summon a priest to bless my house just because of a ouija board, but we should have respect for those who prefer to exercise a little more caution. The occult can really lead to the demonic so we shouldn’t ever deliberately engage in it, but we also shouldn’t be seeing it everywhere and worrying “oh no I might be possessed because I just happened to glance at a ouija board in Target!”. If you exercise prudence, form your conscience well, and live a virtuous life then you really don’t have much to worry about.

Read the thread. I am not saying mother Teresa is selfish I was wanting help in a debate I was having with a friend…

As baptised members of the Catholic Church we have protection from Satan and his demons. Right? So we know demons can still roam earth and cause chaos but what does that mean for us? St Padre Pio was often attacked by Satan

Go to confession. Receive Holy Communion. Repent and follow the Gospel.

Yes of course. I think that demons can attach themselves to occult objects like oujia boards. But I would at least make sure that a the item really was cursed before getting a priest to bless a house. That’s like mowing the lawn when the grass isn’t even long yet.

And no, demons do not possess dead corpses as portrayed in some movies and TV shows.

I don’t know. Those back up dancers in Michael Jackson’s Thriller seemed pretty alive and demonic to me!😉😀🤔

How would you determine if it’s really cursed?

Watch “Catholic Church’s Stance on the occult on Catholic Answers Live” on YouTube

Why bother? Just have the priest bless the house regardless. You don’t have to be experiencing anything weird to have your house blessed. Ours was blessed by our pastor when we moved in and we have never experienced anything of a hostile spiritual event in particular before or after.
