In an interview that appeared in the May 17-18 edition L’Osservatore Romano, Dr. Renato Buzzonetti reflected on his years as Pope John Paul II’s personal physician.

This does not surprise me. I have contemplated what course of action I would take in a similar situation. In those last moments of life, do we take the easier path and take the pain medication or do we allow those last moments for purification of our souls - truly embracing the cross like Jesus did in his last moments.
