Seems every major event in Britain Archbishop Longley is somewhere nearby loool, he’s a lovely man though, if ou ever get the chance to meet him, make sure you do!
 


Bishop Kicanas from Tucson. I’ve seen him a couple of times at the Rite of Election, he always has really good homilies.

He was wonderful - making conversation with us, asking questions and genuinely caring about what we had to say. We are blessed to have him.

I met him on the line for coffee at the FDLC meeting two years ago. We had a great conversation since the line wasn’t moving. I thought it was great that he didn’t “pull rank” by cutting to the head of the line but waiting with the rest of us. I previously met him when he gave a talk on catechesis in our diocese a few years ago before he was a cardinal.

I will. My Parents-in-law live in his archdiocese, but I’ve never spotted him in rural Staffs yet, I’ll look out for a man in shining gold dress! To be fair, most bishops I wouldn’t recognise on the street unless they were carrying some big ‘bishop’ pointy sign (a mitre might do it ;))

Barb - we’ve also had 2 Bishop Cunninghams (not related to one another) in a reltviely short space of time (the dioceses only being recreated after the Reformation in 1850); it’s obviously a holy name!

Actually, I remember at the SCL conference how gracious Cardinal DiNardo was. He, too, waited at the buffet line with the rest of us, even though he was technically, the “host” and it was in his own seminary. We were seated at a table behind him and it was rather funny. We could not tell who had the loudest table, Cardinal DiNardo or ours (and we had a Vatican official who was just as charming and humble, but, with a really great sense of humor).

I alwas see him nowadays in Birmingham city centre throughout the week, in clerical attire (cassock and collar), you should come to the Priestly ordinations in June, they’ll be celebrated at St Chads Cathedral, I will let you know when i know the exact date, His Grace is already trying to butter me up to help steward and the like!
 
I will post a picture of my diocesan bishop when we are blessed with a bishop who promotes, without reservation, the Catholic Faith. That is as opposed to one who, with his fellow bishops, sits back allowing the true Catholic Faith to be undermined.

I agree!

It’s also nice to see a bishop correctly vested for a change: in this case wearing an amice and no pectoral cross over the chasuble.
