Out of curiosity…he appears to be wearing a amaranth red/crimson sash…is this common of the Archbishop of Indianapolis? O is this just the light?
It appears the lighting is weird. At least to me. I don’t think he’s a cardinal.

This is not the Ordinary of the Archdiocese in which I live ( that would be Archbishop Vigneron).

Rather, I spent last July working on a missionary project in Kahama, Tanzania. I was fortunate to stay at the residence of Bishop Minde and got to know him rather well. ( as you would expect if you are spending every breakfast sipping coffee with him in his kitchen 🙂

Last October, when he was in the United States, he made the special effort to come and visit with my family.

So he is ‘our’ bishop 🙂
awwww that must have been wonderful! Think it was destiny you met him. Friendships like these happen for a reason 🙂 I was in Kenya (just visiting) which borders to Tanzania and had I not had my immatriculation at school waiting for me I’m not sure if I had flown back home. I was overwhelmed by the open hearted people and by the fact that the people were so happy with the little that they had.

Bishop Sam G. Jacobs, third Bishop of the Diocese of Houma/Thibodeaux in South Louisiana. This picture is immediately after our ordination mass completed December 11, 2010, I am on the front row to the right.

It really was amazing. I never in a million years considered living in such a place, but I now think fondly of the concept. ( My wife would never let me though, she happens to like having plumbing and electricity for some reason 😉 )

And living in the bishop’s house was also it’s own humbling experience. Being so near such a holy man for such a period of time really brought out my own spiritual shortcomings. :o

Bishop Robert J. Cunningham the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse

Just a reminder…to make it easier for the rest of us, please say what diocese (include state) your bishop leads.

P.S. Detroit folks: thank you for Bishop Flores. He has been a Godsend for the Diocese of Brownsville in Texas.
I would remove my pictures then, but I can’t since it has been so long since I posted them. I really have no desire to tell the world my diocese, etc. It’s way too easy for some random person to figure out where I go to church.

TheMC is correct. It’s simply the lighting. He is not a cardinal and doesn’t wear a red/crimson sash.

Well… Not exactly my bishop, but Archbishop Listecki is my metropolitan.
