Wow, that chasuble is quite impressive!
He’s actually pleasantly surprised me recently, Gregorian Chant and Polyphony in his Masses (he’s a big fan of Palestrina, and the Gloria, Sanctus, Credo and Agnus Dei at his masses are generally Palestrinas Missa Brevis), the Canon of the Mass celebrated Ad Orientem (this really surprised me). He had a half and half reputation, while being incredibly friendly and social (he’s late to meetings because he just has to speak to everyone) on the other hand he had a hand in the soho masses.

I had the pleasure of meeting him twice, once when he was down here for the Red Mass and then when I was in Houston for the Society for Catholic Liturgy conference. He is a good and holy Cardinal. I was pleasantly surprised that he remembered me.
That doesn’t really surprise me at all. My husband and I had the pleasure of sharing a table with him at a fundraiser for our parish’s school one week before we were married. He was wonderful - making conversation with us, asking questions and genuinely caring about what we had to say. We are blessed to have him.

I just wanted to thank you all in Detroit for having prepared our bishop, Daniel Flores. He’s turning out to be an outstanding bishop. And you folks probably had something to do with it.

He used to be my Metroplitan. He did a lot of good in San Antonio, really reigning in the priests and making huge improvements to the quality of the seminary. Too bad that we could not keep him.
His Eminence Cardinal Dinardo was here in my Upstate NY diocese a few months ago, as the guest celebrant and homilist at the 100th anniversary Mass for the local Maronite parish [Easter Rite]. I have some friends who go to it, and it was very well attended.
I attend the Cathedral so I have actually been to a few of his Masses. (also watched his installation Mass on TV. I like him a lot and it looks like he might so some good for the Diocese. Slowly of course.Hi jilly! That’s my Bishop too! I live just east of you!
I’ve only seen His Excellency once, and that was at a ‘Men in Black’ soccer game last July with some of the younger diocesan priests and the seminarians. It was pretty cool!

The present Bishop Cunningham was the Bishop of Odgensburg before he came to Syracuse. Seems that Ogdensburg doesn’t keep their Bishops for very long…the North Country is a ‘training ground’ for ‘baby Bishops’!
