God bless you! 👍

I find most catholics and christians really bad to be focusing on gay topics this much. Gays shouldn’t be shunned they are born that way. It’s stupid to say that being gay is in your own hand. Because for all I could know I could have been born gay.

There’s also people being born in the wrong body. Etc… Stay strong in your faith, I also struggle with topics like this, which is why I will really to do my best to be in these topics and to press for what I see as good.

Stay strong and don’t mind the most people here!
Actually there is no scientific proof that they are ‘born that way’. However, while it is true they have no control over what they desire, they DO have control over how they respond to it.

I don’t celebrate adultery.
I don’t celebrate pedophilia.
I don’t celebrate sexual deviance.
I don’t celebrate homosexuality.

🤷

Don’t be homophobic
We should be homophobic. Not every person who lives a homosexual lifestyle pushes the LGBT agenda publicly, but the ones that do have a poisonous spirit. We should be very wary of them because they sow hate and acceptance of sin.

We can be kind and charitable to them, but we should be also watch our backs around them.

if he’s adept, he might avoid wrecking a business relationship.
If he’s really adept, he might avoid giving the impression of approval of a sinful action AND avoid wrecking a business relationship. Of course, if the guy is going to complain to the boss about the OP having a private conversation about abortion that didn’t involve him, he might just be a jerk and there might not be anyway to avoid annoying him. On the other hand, if the guy isn’t a jerk, and he has even the most tiny ability to read social cues, he might just realize that his pictures might make some of his coworkers uncomfortable and leave the book out on his desk so people can see them if they feel they want to. Homosexuals are certainly not excused from social graces either.

I really don’t know where to ask this question, so please move it if this is not the right place.

A co-worker of mine just “married” his male significant other and will probably be showing some of us the pictures. In my area there are only the three of us. Any suggestions as to how I tactfully decline to look at them as this is offensive to me. I like him, but not what he has done. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks,
sounds like a perfect opportunity to share your Catholic faith! maybe a sentence or two about what marriage truly is and why there is no such thing as “same sex marriage.”

or just be busy when the photos come out. nothing wrong with making yourself unavailable.

hang in there!👍

Alright I am heterosexual but cannot transfer to being gay because I just don’t feel attracted to gays. No matter how hard I tried to like a man, I just can’t. Now I think a gay man can just not like or feel love for a female. You do not need proof for that you can try it yourself. Try falling in love with someone from your gender.

Adultery yes this is a choice.
Pedophillia might actually be pshylogical disorder or be triggered by a bad youth.
Sexual deviance is a choice.
Homosexuality not a choice. At least I cannot love man no matter how hard I try. So I think the opposite is quite true indeed also.

I know a woman that had 2 kids. And later adopted one kid that later seemed gay.

The adopted son that has maried with a guy really takes care for his mother. The two kids that mother has do not do anything for they’re mother and leave her hanging in dire times.

Surely gays are evil. Oh they are so evil I am afraid of them. They might kill me… Seriously man I am wary of liars, thiefs, criminals and thugs. But gays have never done me any any harm!

What you are doing now is actually sowing hate against gays. Shame on you to be sowing hate like this.

God made animals, God made us, so how are the two not comparable? IF animals can have gay tendencies God must have created them so no? So why would God not have made it htat humans could also have these tendencies?

Well I don’t know what enuch God could talk about if there are no people that are not interested in sex whatsoever he must talk about gay people then. I don’t see another option and surely Jesus was no lunatic that talked about things that do not exist.

For one gays exist and they come close. As second there is no such a group that you described that is not interested in sex at all unless we go look at psychological disorders.

So I rest my case. My evidence comes closer then yours does but of course you can close your eyes and pretend like you do not to see this. Which is up to you. Though I am sure Jesus meant gays.
I’m sorry, but you again are using anecdotal evidence. It is simply not a valid argument to say that because you don’t know anyone not interested in sex, that they don’t exist. The Bible specifically says there are such people in the quote you provided, therefore we should probably consider it so.

Also, the religious orders of the world (and this is not limited to Catholics) are filled with people that do not have sex. It stands to reason that some choose to give up sex because of their devotion, while some are likely not to have had an interest in it in the first place.

Lastly, we are not animals. What an animal does is not a model for how we should live. Animals do not have rational thought, and thus are not held to the standards of God. An animal that has sex with a member of the same is not committing an evil act because there is not conscious choice involved. God created all kinds of things, but that does not mean we should emulate their acts. He created stars that burn in the depths of space, but that does not mean we should set fire to ourselves. God created mountains that stand through the ages of time, but that does not mean we will live forever. The properties or actions that define one things are not necessarily applicable to another. Because we are not animals, although we share some similarities in function, we are held to different standards.

Just a few quick notes in regards to Meemai’s posts…

According to the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders homosexuality was listed as a mental disorder until 1973 when there was extreme pressure from homosexuals and politicians to remove it. It was listed as a mental disorder due to its destructive nature (selfish, against natural law, against family, etc.). This is the first and only time a mental disorder was removed under pressure by those who live with such a disorder.

Also, the third type of eunuch listed is referring to those who simply do not have the desire for sexual union because they are very deeply rooted in their knowledge of they religious vocation. I cannot think of her name, although I will look… There is a religious sister who does commentary on art and sculpture who was interview publicly and asked if she ever was sad that she was celibate. She replied no she was not because celibacy was never a struggle for her. She always knew she was called to celibacy, but was sad that she did not have that struggle to offer to God as a sacrifice. Talk about powerful…

Lastly, there is no place we should not be Catholic. Our faith is not something we do on Sundays, it should be the driving force in all we do. This is the difficulty in living a truly Catholic life. Live in the world, but not of it.

For the OP, I would recommend praying long and hard about what you should do and say. Whatever you do, you should not compromise your faith, however, we need to be loving of the sinner, yet hate the sin… You are not alone in the struggle of how to reconcile this difficult teaching. Trust in the Holy Spirit to guide you, the Son to strengthen you, and the Father to watch over you.

You clearly didn’t pay attention to what I said.

The desire we cannot control.
How we RESPOND to that desire we CAN control.

Stop putting words in my mouth.

PS: I am not sowing hate, I am standing firm by truth. As a Catholic you are required to believe homosexual ACTIONS are disordered and sinful. Do you believe that or do you support homosexual actions?

your solution is the best. one can only hope.

No the one with the vocation it is explicitily told so in that text. Because that would be the first ones that Jesus calls out.

Also in the times of world war 1 you where psychological disorderd when you did not want to fight in world war 1 and was against it?

If catholics are really sowing hate against gays. And I will research this, I will write a letter to my pasor that I will stop being a catholic. I am a humanism and I see being catholic as a form of humanism but if being a catholic means you gonna be a homobhopic I will leave search and then I do not care if I go to hell.

Because a God that makes people gay and then starts picking on them is not my God but a big troll.

I do support the last. As I do not see them hurting anyone with it. Only they’re relation between themselves and God and that is something they have to figure and that is not something I have to judge.

This is absolutely correct.

Hating an action does not equal hating an individual. If a person is so tied to a particular action that they cannot differentiate the two, then we should pity them their error but not capitulate our views for fear of offense.

I will certainly be doing this. He is waiting for the pictures from the photographer to come anytime and I believe I did hear him say that he was going to bring them in when a co worker from across the hall spoke with him today. Most of my co-workers have no idea that this “marriage” is an unholy union. They are very liberal.

While it may not be a choice to be attracted to males, there are certainly any number of choices made by the homosexual coworker in the OP. It is choice to become romantically involved with a member of the same sex. It is a choice to have sexual relations with that person. It is a choice to declare that there is nothing wrong with this. It is a choice to go to New Jersey and have a pretend wedding. It is a choice to bring photographs of said pretend wedding to show to your coworkers. It is also a choice to be offended if not all the coworkers are comfortable looking at them.

Much in the same way, heterosexual people have choices. A heterosexual man may not have a choice to notice an attractive woman flaunting herself in a bikini, but he has a choice not to cheat on his wife. A heterosexual woman may not have a choice to desire men, but she has a choice not to spend her money on filth-filled romance novels. As you say, mostly everyone has desire and not all of that desire is going to be ordered correctly toward marriage. God wants all people to turn away from disordered desires and seek his will, whether it be in the vocation of marriage or a vocation of celibacy.

Though a heterosexual man can marry someone of his liking and have a wife and sex.

And a gay man would not be able to marry someone of his liking… And how about people born in the wrong body are they sinners also for changing they’re body?

So if you do not hate the individual you can look at the pictures of the individual that does not show the action. Because a wedding is a wedding and there’s no sex at a wedding.
This is an absurd argument. Sex is a fundamental part of marriage, and a gay “wedding” is not different. By the way, I put “wedding” in quotes, because while it may mimic a Christian ceremony in form and function, it is different in every other sense of the word.

I take it this is a wedding in front of the government which has nothing to do with christianity?
Also he probably had sex before he got wed. So I wonder if op does not search another job since he has been shaking hands with him and working together with him. This really bad and evil sinner that sows hate everyone and will destroy everyone…

Sarcasm off.

Speaking of absurd I feel Camus reaching out to me telling me life is Absurd and that in this absurdism some people might resort to escape in to suicide, illuisions or religion. With religion being like I don’t like it with the homophobicness etc.

I might become a absurdism again that believes that life is just happened per chance and that everything in this world has no reason. The more I am here the more I get to hate the faith. I feel a rebellion inside of me. Why would God do this with me?

Yes God calls those with vocations first, but those are the ones who need to receive the gift of celibacy (those who struggle with the desire for marriage and family). Not all called to religious vocations have this desire and struggle with it. Also, the Church does not hate homosexuals, but the act. The Church calls homosexuals to live as any other single person. Chaste celibacy. It is the homosexual actions which are disordered. Just as a heterosexual man is called to live chastely before marriage, so is a homosexual man. The difference is that homosexual marriage is disordered because of the acts involved with it, as well as the fact that it goes against natural law. Natural law is something that most people will never hear about in our relativistic world because so many attempt to deny truth.

So if you do not hate the individual you can look at the pictures of the individual that does not show the action. Because a wedding is a wedding and there’s no sex at a wedding.
Pretending a homosexual relationship is a marriage is a very sinful action.
