Pretending a homosexual relationship is a marriage is a very sinful action.
It’s a Civil marriage how it does not even have anything to do with the church… It just is a political/society sort of mariage in which some laws would apply to them both like taxes house etc.

Maybe He is trying to tell you something. Perhaps your desire to minimize the sin of homosexuality is not compatible with your faith.
I thought God would want people to be with him. So he is telling me to go away and stay away. Well I can’t say that I didn’t try and if this is the answer that God has for me.

I will call my pastor when he is back from Brazil. And figure it out.

I take it this is a wedding in front of the government which has nothing to do with christianity?
Also he probably had sex before he got wed. So I wonder if op does not search another job since he has been shaking hands with him and working together with him. This really bad and evil sinner that sows hate everyone and will destroy everyone…

Sarcasm off.

Speaking of absurd I feel Camus reaching out to me telling me life is Absurd and that in this absurdism some people might resort to escape in to suicide, illuisions or religion. With religion being like I don’t like it with the homophobicness etc.

I might become a absurdism again that believes that life is just happened per chance and that everything in this world has no reason. The more I am here the more I get to hate the faith. I feel a rebellion inside of me. Why would God do this with me?
I am sorry to see that you are so lost in your convictions. You chastised me earlier for having such a weak faith that I would be offended, but I see that you yourself have a very deep struggle with what you believe. I would suggest seeking guidance from a spiritual director or a priest. Read the Bible and the CCC, and pray. Then you will come to a better understanding of what it is that God wants and how you should respond.

snort What would Jesus do?

He’d take the pictures and say: “You are sinning.”

That’s what he did with the woman in adultery: “You have had many husbands and the man you are with now is not your husband.”

Generally he never encouraged people to continue in their sin.
This is so true!!! Getting awfully tired of the connotation being that we are being unkind, unChristian, and unloving when we make choices in accord with the Gospel. If the coworker in question knows this person is a devout Catholic then HE is the one being unkind, unChristian and unloving by putting her in an awkward situation. Why would he want to do that???

I cannot agree to these believes. As a human being I can’t I am a contempary humanism. The world that I eye, is a world without misery it’s a world of acceptance. A world with a morale not certainly for God but for ourselves. I want to make this world a better place. But by going with a religion that does not make this possible it hurts me.

I want to trust God and to go with him, but he does not stand for a world that I stand for. I feel like Satan that went into rebellion.

It effects the Church through society. A legal marriage requires the acknowledgement of all citizens in ways that offend the consciences of many. The goal is to make it illegal for anyone to say there is anything wrong with this, or at least make it legal to bully them for doing so. Already in our country, homosexual “marriage” laws have been used to discriminate against Christians who refuse to participate in such ceremonies. No one, whether they are religious or not, should be forced or coerced to call this falsehood a marriage. The only reason that the gay agenda wants these laws is that they know it effects everyone.

So we should not allow them to marry? Because Catholics wish it so? Should we also start waging war with muslims? And start anhilatiing other religions because they might discriminate us also? Let’s restart the holy wars. Let’s put back the inquesition and kill heretics let’s go all the way here!

If he’s really adept, he might avoid giving the impression of approval of a sinful action AND avoid wrecking a business relationship.
I don’t think it’s so hard to give a polite response and avoid compromising one’s beliefs. I don’t see why saying something like ‘May God bless your life’ necessarily condones gay marriage, but that’s my opinion. You don’t have to explain what you mean by something like ‘May God bless your life’ - that you hope they change their ways. And it is a polite, short response.

Best of luck to the OP in this situation.

Why would any co-worker, “gay” or straight be showing off pictures of their wedding at work? Personally, I could care less of seeing a co-worker’s wedding pictures and didn’t bring mine to work to show off when I got hitched and IMO, anyone who does screams of an “attention whore.”

Tell him dude, your pictures are none of my business.
Because they want to throw it in every ones face, that’s why. And you better not dare object or refuse to bake them a cake or they will tell on you.

Bah.
I’d say something along the lines of, “I didn’t care about marriages when I was 10 and I don’t care now.”

That may not be true for everyone nor as effective as one would like but there it is. I’ve always hated people having to show you photos of their exploits. It always feels like a “Look at me and what I did and you didn’t! hahahahaha.”

Also, it’s always funny to me that everyone thinks Jesus would do whatever we would do in a situation. I have no idea what he would do, and I’m willing to bet nobody else really does either.

Maybe He is actually calling for you to come to him and leave your false convictions behind you. Christ often required his followers to leave their former life behind. Maybe you need to do the same. Maybe you have to choose Him over this gay agenda that you seem to get caught up in in every thread you’ve joined.

There’s a lot of idealism on this thread, but the fact is that making your religious convictions known at work is generally a bad thing. It’s worse when those convictions are directed at a coworker. By all means, tell him that you’ll look later and just never get around to it. But neither your coworkers, nor your boss are going to likely be impressed with you announcing to your coworker that his sinful family makes you uncomfortable.

They already are not marrying. We should not require citizens to pretend they are.

Well in my curent life I would say this applies to me.

“But, you know, I feel more fellowship with the defeated than with saints. Heroism and sanctity don’t really appeal to me, I imagine. What interests me is being a man.”

In my previous life this this would have applied.

“Do you believe in God?"
No - but what does that really mean? I’m fumbling in the dark, struggling to make something out. But I’ve long ceased finding that original.”

However back on zhe topic.

I can see the church is losing grip because in the past church and state where one when this changed the church right now is making a stand point on gays. Because it is the last together with condoms they might have control over. And they are losing the control. We are not fighting muslims or any religions because we cannot. But gays are easy to pick on.

And yes I get caught up with it in every thread because I can’t stand it.

Praise you for this common sense.

Again, you making extreme illogical jumps here. How do you go from banning gay marriage to waging war with muslims?

We should ban gay marriage (or better, prevent its passage in the first place) because we believe that to be the way a just society functions. Our societies are not free-for-alls. We restrict all kinds of activities deemed harmful: theft, murder, arson, speeding, fraud, etc. Catholics consider homosexual marriage to be within those same categories because they are just as harmful. Homosexual marriages add nothing to society because they do not contribute back to society in any meaningful way. Heterosexual unions under normal circumstance do by producing children. Hence, we encourage and protect those unions because they mean the furtherance of our society. This is a big part of the natural law argument against homosexuality.

I thought about this, but I wonder if this is not a venial sin, as I am telling someone something that I know I will never do, as in lying.

How do they add nothing to society? Surely they do what do married couples add to society? Well they make kids which gays do not… But gays are not that bad? They do not harm anyone. A heterosexual that phones in his car and does not notice a kid on that same street now that does not add anything to society.

But gays do add to society they show that if there’s a cause to fight for you can fight for it. And it surely will inspire people to keep fighting for they’re rights. Yes Martin Luther has shown this before. But still…

Also speaking of Martin Luther I wonder how we as white christians could have allowed something like slavery. We surely arent without faults and we surely did not complain when black slaves where working in our factories and gardens. Yeah…
