They just moved the organ and choir to the loft a few weeks ago-- sounds and looks much better.

We get to live it all over again this year! I picked up her veil yesterday.

I am breathlessly waiting for all the construction to be done. Good to see you yesterday. Mil saw you first! 🙂

Give our love to Net and Mil! I took J. and L. up with me to Fr. Norbert, who gives nice blessings to the kids. L. was a little bit nervous, but Fr. smiled and said, "C’mon, cmon!’ and she went forward. Things are gettin’ a little better every week.

Back on topic… I bet we’re gonna have some nice pictures after the renovation is complete. Perhaps it won’t be anything like the Grotto, but with Fr. Ben at the helm, it isn’t going to be some modernist wreckovation job, either.

First, there’s not a scaffold or construction worker to be seen. That’s what she looks like now. I know it kinda looks like an unfinished product, but nope, that’s the real deal.

Second, you ran short of funds? Wow. $20 million just doesn’t go as far as it used to.

Third, I know those are lights.

Fourth, no, I never say anything nice when I see $20 million of diocesan money being flushed down a rat hole to further ruin a cathedral and move it ever farther away from its Catholic roots.

Here’s St. Thomas Aquinas, the parish I was confirmed in this past Easter and am currently attending until I graduate college, then I will be moving to either Oklahoma or Colorado…the only thing I will miss from Dallas is this beautiful parish…

Lets see, the crucifix isn’t in place yet, the president’s chair is not where it is supposed to be, the Marion shrine is not completed, no sanctuary lamp, the ambo is not completed, the altar candles are not in place etc etc

Are you telling me I don’t know what the place I go to Mass at every week looks like and you do?

Yes the original interior was fantastic it really is a shame that it was destroyed in the 50’s.
 
My parish’s website is down…You’re not missing out on anything though. 😉

You can see all that from that little tiny picture??? You have better eyes than I.

Anyhoo, I’ve been inside. I know what it looks like. While I concede it is an improvement over the 70s “renovation” it is, in my opinion, still not very Catholic.
 
 
This is our Church - It is a brand new church which was dedicated by our Bishop today- Austin, TX. The church has 1,500 seats, about 15 almost-human sized statues, and beautiful stain glasses. It took total of 5 years when the parish planned for this new church, and it took about 1 1/2 year to build it.

On the altar, near the Cross are the status of 4 Saints who are the authors of the New Testament - St. Mathew, St. Mark, St. John, and St. Luke.

I wanted to take a picture of the whole church from the outside, but my memory card was full.
