We Christians and Jews, however, believe that alcohol is not just ok, but also holy when used properly. It is used to make people glad and praise God. When people get drunk, it is not just a loss of control, it is an abuse of a gift from God.

Its a shame what alcohol has done to our society. Not many people think like you do…one drink is like 10 for them…and getting drunk is no longer a sin. May God keep us away from that evil. ameen

That’s not entirely true. There are Christian groups which do follow OT dietary laws, including splinter groups of the Worldwide Church of God, Seventh Day Adventists to some extent, and some Christian Reconstructionists.

Those groups are, by definition, heretical. They do not serve as the norm for Christian beliefs, but rather go against Christian teachings. Acts is very clear about the foods being clean, as is Paul.

Because that’s where the demons requested to be put. Jesus didn’t single out the pigs, He simply allowed the demons their request. There was an obvious reason for the pigs to become possessed.

You probably missed the verse where Jesus says that all things are clean and noting that you eat can corrupt you but it is the evil in the heart of man that corrupts.

God saw all that He made (including pigs), and it was very GOOD.

Because they were nearby. No other animals are described as being in the area, but it makes a point to say that there was a herd of pigs nearby. Not only that, but the pigs were being herded by people, they were not wild. They were not being treated as diseased, evil creatures.

So you are saying it is better to drink, but try not to drink too much than to stay away from alcohol all together?

hmm…i wonder how many of those alcoholics out there would never have been alcoholics if they never had that first cup of wine. oh dear, i think that would be none of them.
