That was the rite during a short transitional period during the 1960s, not part of the "traditional " rite.

Traditionally, as others have pointed out, the priest says an audible prayer , the communicant remains silent.

It was a wonderful experience for those of us that live some distance to attend the TLM. I just keep praying that our Greensburg Bishop will let us have one closer then this.

We just moved from Pittsburgh…wow, that is interesting!
 
St. Boniface is an unusual looking church from the outside, and one that is sort of sad to look at (for me). Its architecture is quite a mix, a little bit of romanesque mixed in with a byzantine Eastern Europe look to it.
The entire neighborhood was ripped out for highway construction except for the church and a handful of other buildings. St. Boniface looked a lot different in its original setting in a crowded and bustling neighborhood when I went past it many times as a kid on the streetcar to West View Park.

I’m in the Greensburg Diocese. Our bishop knows there are several priests who are interested in saying the TLM. I hope he doesn’ try to discourage it! I wish there was a way for interested Catholics in each diocese to find each other. In my home NO parish, not a word was said about the MP. Maybe it’s too soon.

Several priests interested in saying the TLM in our diocese? You wouldn’t by any chance be willing to share some names via PM would you? It would be great to be able to get in contact with some of them. I hope a TLM comes to Indiana…or heck, anywhere else since the majority of the diocese is easily accessible from here.

Spread the word to all you know who are interested!

You can put your name on the list. In the first link, you give all of your contact information, but the list only shows where you are located and your area code. The two “Indiana” people are me and my husband. I doubt that many Catholics have heard much about it. I look around on Sundays and wonder if any others in the church feel as I do, or even know about the Motu Proprio since the priest never mentioned it.

Anyway, I heard from another member of this forum that three priests and a group of people from the Greensburg diocese went to the bishop, several years ago, about an Indult Mass. That’s how I know there are three priests. I don’t have any names. There are several from our diocese on this forum. I would be glad to share information. 🙂 I’d be glad to travel 20 miles or so to mass if I have to. We often go 60 miles to Pittsburgh now as it is.

Yoi!! I was typing too fast! Let me rephrase part of the last paragraph I wrote:

There are several other people from the diocese (not priests, as far as I know) on this forum. If I knew the names of the priests who offered to say the TLM, I would be glad to share information. 🙂

I feel like crud, cause I didn’t make it to Mass in Pitt this morning.
DH wasn’t feeling well this morning, and needed my help.
I hope to make it, with my DD, next Sunday. (And I may even have my rents and lil sis as well!)
 
Prayers for you and your family that you can make it next week. By the way, the TLM is offered in Hermitage, Pennsylvania in Mercer County (or so I have read) which is a lot closer to Edinboro than Pittsburgh.

Thought I would mention it.

St. Anne’s in Erie is closer to Edinboro, as well.
However, I have custody exchange every Sunday in Cranberry Twp. So I am down in that area, anyway.

As of September 14, the Local Bishop is forbidden to forbid the celebration of Mass according to the 1962 Missal.

I wish everyone would wake up and smell what the “Rock” has been cookin’ for the past few years! Wake up yo! The Pope issued a Motu Proprio a few days ago that states any priest may as of 9-14-07 say the TLM without the permission of the local bishop.

Yes and there was to be a generous indult prior to this. We have none. Our Bishop has issued not statement and our priest is silent. So what is our point?
 
James, thank you for the correction. I was totally unaware of this parish.
