It is not unlikely that John did not know that there were other inspired materials, some of which he possibly had access to even before he wrote the Book of revelation. v18-19 speaks about God’s word (prophecy) and thus all word of God that fall under this category should not be tinkled with but should be guarded in their purity. Just because in his time the canon had not been promulgated yet, but surely these verses speak about instruction in our attitude to guard it against subtracting or adding to the written word of God.God bless.

Its not so much that it is ok, as that it is no big deal as long as changes don’t alter the faith in any way.Please don’t get me wrong, but are you guys implying that it’s OK to change other books except the Revelation one?
I think Revelation 22:18 should and must be applied to the entire Bible.
An example of this can be found comparing the Byzantine Manuscripts to the Alexandrian manuscripts. Lots of changes have crept in, but as none of them change the faith in any way, they aren’t something we should spend much time worrying about.
Meanwhile we have all these modern bibles that translate using inclusive language and choosing “translations” that go against Christian beliefs. These are something we need to worry about.

If this was just the book of Revelation, I think we would all be in trouble. I heard a tape by Dr. Scott Hahn a Roman Catholic Apologist that said Revelation chapter 22:1-5 the New Heaven and earth was not in the original Vulgate,but was added later to the Canon in the 6th or 7th century. I believe the Revelation John is revelation of Jesus Christ in your life. He paid the price for our sins on the Cross and was raised from the dead. To reject him as our Lord and savior,after the Father gives us revelation knowledge of him through the Word and rejecting he was raised from the dead, and is Lord and Savior of all mankind, is taking away from the Word. To reject God then plaguess and death come to the world, not the believer. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Jesus took the Curse of Adam on the Cross. Believers are not under the Curse.

Help me understand this. The world cannot reject God. People can reject God. If you live in the world and plagues come, do they come to one side of the street and not the other? When hurricanes come do they spare one block and not another. Help me understand this.

We walk by Faith and not by sight. Many contribute bad things as an act of God. We have been trained to think that way. That is Old Covenant thinking,Old Tetament. Jesus fullfilled the Law and the Curse. If we walk with him the evil one comess to steal,kill,and destroy.God is love and Mercy. We don’t always understand why God allows the Evil one to do things in this world, but my question is when these things happen how many people cover themselves with the Blood of Jesus??? How many stand on his Word and Shealter themselves with God’s wings??? We have had many Christian be miracles and survive Tornadoes, even EF5 Tornadoes,by Faith. Satan attacks and God answers, how God does we don’t always understand his answer, but we live Faith to Faith.

It is never OK to tamper with scripture. Every translation and every publishing of scripture must be made in good faith accurately.
This would be the case even if Revelation never mentioned it.

If you come to the full knowledge of Jesus Christ and then you reject him, God will hand you over to yourself and the world(The Evil Ones domain). This is what happened with Adam and Eve. The Evil one comes to kill, still and destroy, Jesus came to save. When storms come we should lay down in the boat, like Jesus did and cover ourselves in his protection. His disciples were affraid because a lack of Faith. I have seen miracles happen when Tornados, even EF5 tornados hit. God is love and mercy, Satan comes to destroy. Faith and prayer is the defirance.We live if we die, we live if we live. We live by Faith not by sight. The World rejects God and opens the door for the Evil One. The World says storms are an act of God, yet Jesus stood up and quited the storm then told his disciples, “Were is your Faith?” We recieve not,because we ask not. The plague John is talking here is those that have come to the fullness of Jesus Christ, turn and reject him.The Evil one attacks, but God only answers if we have Faith in Christ and recieve his goodness. God may call us home and we still win if we are in the Blood of Jesus.

I am sorry I may not understand your post but if I think it is what it is then I do not agree.
Satan destroys the souls with sin. ‘Do not be afraid with those who can destroy the body but be afraid of the one who can destroy the soul’ (paraphrase). Yes, Satan has some power and it may be possible he will destroy us bodily but that is not his ultimate objective. It is only so that we may get discouraged and lost hope by our suffering that we lose our faith.
Believing in Jesus and having the fullness of him does not mean that all the problems, the suffering, the diseases and great calamities will go away. They are still there and Christians are not exempted from experiencing all these. The difference is when we have Jesus we will look at all these differently with the eyes of faith. What is more important is the salvation of our souls and therefore that gives us the hope that we are going for something that is even better than what we have on earth.

Hi Rueben J, I agree in part with you. I agree God rains on the just and unjust a like. I believe we are triunion beings created in God’s image, spirit , soul, and body. My spirit is sealed with the Holy Spirit, therefore through the Blood of Jesus, I am his rightousness in my spirit. We have the authority to cast out demons, heal the sick, and communion with God through the Blood Christ shead on the Cross,that he paid the curse of Adam in full. I can stand on God’s Word through Faith in Jesus name and be totaly healed of any curse Satan throughs at my body. Once again my spirit has been sealed with the Holy Spirit it is the image of Jesus. Yes our soul(mind) and body must be renewed every day by the Word, but my spirit is sealed and saved. When I’m in the Word, pray in the spirit,by Faith through the Holy Spirit, I experence the Rema(presence of Jesus). In this faith I can have Heaven on earth and recieve all the promises of Abraham, long life, healing of sickness, riches Abraham had. Blasphing the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin. Satan can only attack my mind(Soul) and body, he can not get at my spirit because it is already in communion with Christ.Ergo I do not believe God gives sickness or storms in life, I truely believe the are from principalities of darkness, but Jesus already paid the price and we have victory through his Blood. We need not fear or tolorate the storms. In the spirit we have the same power as Jesus Christ if we have enough faith and we say in the name of Jesus to stop, it will stop. Heal and it will be healed through his Blood we are disciples and he has given us authority.

Hi. OK, you said your spirit is sealed with the Holy Spirit. Maybe you are referring to Ephesians 1:13. That’s great.
You have to forgive me because there are some of the terms that you mentioned which I may not understand. Not because of anything but probably it may due to the fact that we are taught differently and some of the terms which may be perfectly obvious to you may not to me.
For example, what do you mean by ‘I’m in the word’?
How is ‘Rema’ Jesus’ presence?
How is the mind, the soul? You say human composed of the body, soul and spirit. What is the difference between the soul and the spirit?

I just seen a move entitled St. Patrick. He was a patron saint of Ireland who brought Christianity there around the sixth century. The movie is about his life where he converted the Irish pagans to Christianity. The pagans only understood power in order to believe. Patrick walked through fire and was not burnt, brought sunlight to take away the snow and blizzard, drank poison the druid offered him, chased away snakes, changed into deers so that his enemies could not see him, became invisible so that swords would not cut through him. In the end the pagan king was convinced and converted and also all the people of Ireland.
I think miracles are not impossible and that I would agree with you, but how that happen, I think it is still the prerogative of God to allow it to happen. What do you think?
BTW, we see God did bring earthly calamities when He decided to. So I am not too sure that these are confined only to Satan.

" Now the God of Peace Himself sanctify you completely; may your whole spirit, soul,and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jeus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 5:24 NKJ Paul refers to our spirit as the inner man.Genesis 1:26 talks of God creating man in his image and likeness, “Let Uscreat man in Ourimage and likeness. In Hebrew a speaking spirit. We were created as a Trinity in ourselves, body(flesh), Soul( Our mind or Consciencesness), our spirit which is a mirror of the Word(Jesus Christ).This is all based on Scripture. You will be given a new body at resurrection of the dead, but your spirit was sealed with the Holy Spirit, it is forever, can not be changed once you excepted Jesus Christ. If you wish to get more on this I suggest Dr.Creflo Dollar or Pastor Andrew Wommack have books giving all the Scriptures.
Rema is the Greek word for Presence. Rema of Jesus happens when we are in the word, pray in te Heavenly language( 1 Corithians 14:1-2) the gift of tongues, and inter into our inner man. You may experence this Rema when you take your Eucharist.To a non Catholic the Word is our spiritual food. We both agree in the importance of the Blood of Jesus, we just see it in a different way.Only the Blood of Jesus can bring full Rema about.
As far as power of Jesus Christ every single Catholic and Christian has the power of Jesus Christ in his name and in our spirit. Jesus and the Father bare one, and through his Blood we are one with him, all we need is Faith. We live Faith to Faith, just because we plant a seed and don’t see it’s groth immediately does not men that seed is not growing. It starts in the spiritual, then breaks through to the natural. I stood on the Word of God 1 Peter 1:24 " Be His(Jesus) stripes we are healed.” Jesus took the beating on his back so we are no longer under Satan’s curse of dieseas, but we must have Faith.
Last of all you do have the same power St.Patrick had. I watched my shattered crooked foot get healed by standing on the Word of Jesus and having Faith in His Blood, when doctors said there is nothing to be done. I watch my father get raised from the dead, by Faith in the Blood of Jesus and standing on his word.
I disagree that God causes bad things to happen, he may allow it in his will, but Ephisians 6 tells us we are dealing with principalities of darkness. I believe God did in the OT, but Jesus paid the price of the Law, man could not keep,with his Blood on the Cross.

LOL. I love prooftexting. It’s so offensive because it distorts God’s word. Authority is important, and why I became Catholic. The warning text of Revelations is also found in the old testament. the warning in the Old Testament would apply to anyone that added the New Testament then by those prooftexting arguments. Kind of bazaar when you get down to really thinking about it.

Yes!!! Many people today have been clinically dead and raised by Faith through the Word and the Blood of Jesus. It is happening everyday, just turn on a faith channel. Pastor Andrew Wommack’s son was dead for 5 hours and in a mourge, before he arrived. He stood on the Word,Blood of Jesus, and Faith, his on was raised from the dead. This is totaly Scripture. Read Proverbs, out of our mouth comes life or death. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit and the power to raise the dead, cast out demons, and faith to move the mountains in our life.Why are people so surprise to hear these miracles happening every day when you have Faith,stand on God’s Word,and plead the Blood of Jesus???My shattered,twisted foot was healed not by Doctors,but standing on the Word and pleading the Blood of Jesus. We all have Christ power, when he dewells in us and stand fast on God’s promises.

I understand Wommack’s son was in a drug induced coma. Are you aware of it? In case you say it doesn’t matter, there have been cases that when the drug wears off the person can recover from the overdose. Not the same as resurrected.

Hi Martin, you may be right there, I was not there, I can only take his word on it. But as far as others being raised from the dead, I was there when my Dad was. Dr. Kay even admitted they had lost him and he was clinicaly dead. Jesus gave my Dad a new heart, he had this vision when he was dead. Years later my dad had another surgury and Dr Right said medical science did not have the technology to do what had been done. My Dad lived another 35 years. 1 Peter 1:24 says by His stripes we have been healed.Why are so many signs and wonders happening now with such an increase of Faith in a time the Churches are being pursecuted??? Especially in this world culture of death???

Thanks for this explanation. I thought when we say the ‘rema of the word’, it is more on the theme of the message from the word, either proclaimed or prophesied. I find it a bit difficult to understand the word as Jesus’ presence but I can understand that you believe it to be that way.

Some Catholic priest and protestant ministers have a real problem with the gifts. I have known ministers that get persecuted for using them. I have seen Fr.Cedric on the Church Channel talk positive about them. Can you tell me why this broad discrepancy exist depending on who you talk too??? I believe if I’m not mistaken Charasmatics were big in the Catholic Church in the late 70’s, early 80’s. If this is true, why did it die down, becaue I don’t hear about it any more???
