Planned Parenthood is going to present to my Youth Workshop...right now

These people’s presentation was ridiculous.

From the other room I was in, I could somewhat hear what they were saying. Extremely cheap video of kids drinking at a party, then I heard a girl in the video angrily scream something about someone 'f’ing her.

What’s so hard about teaching teens chastity. There is just no respect. We’re basically objects now. Guranteed the world would be better if this generation tried to remain chaste, and atleast follow the law regarding the drinking age. -_-

Maria, the more I learn about Planned Parenthood, the more I learn what a sick and evil organization it is. For example, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is sponsoring videos by Laci Green, a virulent anti-Christian and self-appointed “sex expert” (apparently no credentials are required for that title). In one of her videos, targeting teens, Ms. Green gushes over the virtues of sadomasochistic practices. I really couldn’t watch any more of her puerile ranting, but she is all over Facebook and YouTube flaunting her amorality.

All public funding for this heinous organization should be blocked. Planned Parenthood is indeed bent on not only sexualizing the youth of America, but perverting the youth of America.

I thought you’d mistakenly said ‘go down’ instead of ‘go up’ in your first sentence,
Bradski, Bradski, Bradski, you should know me well enough by now to know that I rarely do anything “mistakenly.” 😉
but I guess you’re suggesting that the pill causes an abortion. And yes, it can cause the body to reject an implanted egg but I think you’re stretching the definition of abortion to include it. Nevertheless, it’s a fair question for those who do read it that way.
It’s not an “implanted egg” that the Pill causes the body to reject. It ceases to become an egg once fertilization occurs and its DNA is changed forever. It’s now a teeny, tiny human person, different from an egg. Different from its mother. Different from its father.

And I’m surprised that you’re not pointing out the inconsistency of a position that would sanction an abortion through the Pill but forbid abortions after several weeks. You would be so right in saying, “If you believe it’s a person from the moment of conception, how could you countenance supporting a chemical agent that prevents ‘this person’ from implanting?”

That’s why the Catholic position is so difficult to argue against. You can’t point out any inconsistencies in our argument. Yes, it’s wrong to abort if the human person is 24 hour along; yes, it’s wrong to abort if the baby is conceived in rape; yes, it’s wrong to conceive if the baby is conceived in incest.

But as far as Catholics go, is using a condom ‘better’ than taking the pill?
No, they are both intrinsically wrong. Insofar as condoms don’t cause abortions, I suppose there is room for discussion that it is, indeed, “better” morally.
I believe that contraception, apart from NFP, is a mortal sin whichever way you do it.
Except that NFP is not contraception. :nope:

It’s no more contraception than what you are doing right now (reading this) is contraception. (IOW: You’re not doing anything to prevent a pregnancy right now, are you? That’s what NFP is. Simply doing what we typically do, except that it’s during the fertile days of the month.)
So is there any justification for checking if the rates went up or down just in regards to condoms?
Sure. It’s an interesting question, and Catholics are certainly free to entertain it in the same manner that an atheist might contemplate a question about the nature of God. We all understand that we are suspending our basic beliefs in order to engage in discussion.
In any case, we can’t uninvent contraception. It’s generally available and unless it’s made illegal, then people are going to use it to prevent unwanted pregnancies. So arguing that contraception is wrong may be OK for a Catholic (and full marks to each one that refuses to use it) but most Catholics plus everyone else is going to use it.
It’s the same argument, I suppose, with abortion, then, isn’t it?

We can’t uninvent abortion. It’s generally available and unless it’s made illegal, then people are going to use it to get ride of unwanted pregnancies.

But we still argue against abortion, like we can argue against contraception, because it’s wrong.
So the question becomes, not is contraception morally wrong – it is as far as the Catholic Church is concerned, but does easy access to it, plus education in its use, cause or prevent more abortions. And almost everything I’ve been able to find on the subject says: Yes, it does decrease the amount of abortions.
Curious, that conclusion.

Abortions were rare before contraception became readily available in the US.

Now they are common. Just like contraception.

I would conclude that abortion rates increase when contraception becomes available?

Does that not seem self-evident to you, Bradski?

Funny you mention that, I was watching weight loss videos on youtube, and hers popped up! I checked out her channel and was like, eeeep, nevermind…

Are you suggesting that having the snip is not a great way of contraception? Let’s face it, it has to be the best way of ensuring that the woman is not going to have an abortion. Personally, I don’t care what method they use to get the rate down.
Even tubal ligation has a failure rate…although very small. It’s definitely effective, but I defintely wouldn’t call it great. There can be some really nasty side effects for women who have the snip done.
said that, allowing for other factors, the abortion rate goes down:

‘…a rise in contraceptive use or effectiveness invariably leads to a decline in induced abortion…’

Try reading in context what I said. Just because there is a correlation, does not mean there is a causation.
