On Sept. 29, 2015, Rep. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., asked Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards about the claim that just 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s 2013-2014 services are abortion-related.

Lummis estimates were that $262.1 million comes from abortion procedures (a high estimate), and there is a total of $1.3 billion in revenue that fiscal year. That indicates 20%.

I wonder if you add in what they make for selling body parts, it comes up to.

PP claims 3% are abortion related and 31% are contraceptive related. But even if that were true, that three percent still makes PP the largest provider of abortion.

Discredited videos have no place in the “pro-life” agenda. Why not defend the unborn with facts, not fake news?

What you want to know is what the percentage is of woman who arrive at “Planned Parenthood” who receive abortions. I’ve seen it reported as 95%. I wouldn’t buy ANYTHING an organization of such ill repute as “PP” has to say.

What was discredited?!?! There are HOURS upon HOURS of UNEDITED footage absolutely proving otherwise. Simply calling them “discredited” only discredits you as you obviously haven’t watched them.

You might consider watching the unedited videos, which were published the same time that the edited versions were published. The ones that are circulating most frequently were condensed for time, and yes, shock value, but when they show PP employees discussing the sale of body parts that all actually happened; it was not fabricated.

PP’s talking point about the videos being “highly edited” is true the same way that ABC and CNN show “highly edited” clips of fires and special events on their news programs. It’s impossible for the public to digest hours of unedited footage. The content is still real.

I’m not sure. I can think of a few good or at least morally neutral services that Planned Parenthood offers (pregnancy testing and HIV/STD testing come to mind). However, I think these services are probably followed up with discussion about abortion or contraception. Bottom line is that most of their revenue comes from abortion and that so much else of what they offer is gravely immoral that we ought not to support them.

Seems like about a half of US abortions are done by PP.

The trend is mostly downward though. It may or may not be because of contraception and education provided not only by PP but other clinics as well.

The only thing discredited in this thread is you. If you think these videos are fake I have to question any information that comes from you.

Hundreds of hours of untouched video shows the truth. Your agenda can not hide that fact!

Margaret Sanger (the Founder of PP) was a racist and believed that we needed to kill black babies in the womb.

Her bust and portrait should be toppled!

Margaret Sanger (the Founder of PP) was a racist and believed that we needed to kill black babies in the womb.
And Nixon favored abortions in the case of interracial couples. (This was caught on one of the tapes.)

From PP’s own fact sheet a few years back (the stats are from an earlier year than the fact sheet):

Planned Parenthood helped 7,021 patients with prenatal care and logged only 977 adoption referrals in 2009. Those combined services account for just 2% of their services to pregnant women.

**So what accounts for the other 98%? You guessed it: Abortion. Planned Parenthood performed 332,278 abortions in 2009 — in fact, Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider.
**
So for every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performs 340 abortions. They don’t care about helping low-income pregnant women unless those low income women want an abortion!

I despise Planned Parenthood for multiple reason, but in all actuality, not all of their clinics perform abortions. Many of their clients that receive pregnancy tests go on to parent their children. A few place their babies for adoption. Not everyone that goes to their clinics even believes in abortion. They just go because they are a confidential place to receive a pregnancy test.

I do wish that all Planned Parenthood clinics would be closed down. Margaret Sanger wasn’t just a racist. She pushed for eugenics, classism, and elitism as well. Nothing she pushed for was for the good of women, especially the women who have been tricked into thinking she is a hero for them. Unfortunately her legacy has been twisted and contorted by (mostly) white liberals in their quest to eradicate “undesirables” of any sort in a way that makes those “undesirables” cheer them on as champions of hope. It’s sad and disgusting to me, a woman who is a mother of many biracial children and a minority myself.

I feel as if the pro life movement hasn’t done a very good job at countering the lies being spread by her followers. I know several faithful Catholics that view Sanger as a champion of women even if they don’t agree with all her methods of family planning. They especially see her as a champion of the poor and minorities. They were two of the groups she sought to eradicate! But if faithful Catholics have been tricked into believing these things, I can’t see how it’s surprising most others have as well.
