I absolutely can’t stand Mitch McConnell, but I do have to be fair here. He voted against defunding them as a procedural move. If he votes against it, he can then bring it up again later for another vote. If he had voted in favor of it, Senate rules would have prevented him from bringing it up again for another vote.

So holding this particular vote against him is unwarranted in this instance alone. He certainly has fault for refusing to add the defunding bill as an amendment to the Highway Bill (which would have been much harder for the Democrats and Obama to vote against or veto).

Once upon a time, Unions indeed, stuck up for the little man, better work conditions and so on. Now, they are a special interest group that comes to the aid of another special interest.

Labor once, really did have a lot of blue collar ethnic types, many of whom were Catholics, of course, that exist today but times have changed.

Once upon a time is right, in my grandfather’s time.

I came from a blue collar family, and my family saw the Republicans, not the Democrats, as the people who cared about people like them, not taxing them to pay for special interest groups.
 
Sorry, I do not like all the fine print in the participation clauses and I would not wish to have
email contact with Obama. Who knows what could happen!

Are you aware the Hyde Amendment already prohibits the federal government for paying for them??

Absolutely correct. That $500 million in federal funding covers a LOT of the fixed costs for the organization, so that it subsidizes the costs of abortions for Planned Barrenhood.

Money Fungibility:

Go to “Students for Life” on facebook and they have a great video on how our money is used for abortions at PP. When one pot is full they will spend the extra on abortions. You can bet your money is being used for abortions.
 
I was dismayed by that article’s strong criticism of Catholic prelates in good standing, even a Cardinal, a prince of the Church. Frankly, saints just don’t criticize the hierarchy, and I don’t take seriously any writings of someone who does. It’s just anti-Catholic.

So tell me how do you separate the abortion aspect of Planned Parenthood from all the other “services” ? For instance do you hire separate cleaning service to clean the areas of the facilities where abortions are performed and pay them out of a special account that no federal funds have been placed ? Do you allocate the utilities paid for the facility in the same way? How about the lady that sits up front and greet people -is part of her salary allocated to take into account people coming into the facility that she directs the abortion part of the facility .?

The only way to assure that federal funds are never used in any way to pay for abortions is assure that no funds go to any organization that performs abortions .

Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Is the same man who was caught up in the sex abuse scandal and I believe we can criticize those who hurt the Church no matter what their station in the Church is.
