Interesting, though, how lifenews.com quotes the PP prez about Catholic women…but then omits the information that came next, which was included in most other website reports:

Richards cites an April 2011 Guttmacher Institute study that found 98 percent of Catholic women reported using birth control at some point in their lives. She also notes an NPR report that many Catholic hospitals and universities already offer health insurance plans that provide birth control coverage to their employees.
The Guttmacher Institute is owned by PP. I’m not sure I see your point. I see no issue with leaving this out, it does not change the rest of the article.

My wife, before we were married, had to use “birth control” pills because of an irregular cycle. We never used such afterwards.

So, remarks about how devoted a Catholic she and other women in her position were before they wered married are wholly inappropriate and totally offensive to me. 😦
I don’t think Farsight was suggesting that at all. In fact, he/she went on to say “Was it for health reasons or to actually prevent birth?”, saying that many Catholic women use the pill for health reasons, not contraception.

And also on the list of Margaret Sanger award recipients we have…ta da!
Alan Guttmacher himself! The namesake of the Guttmacher Institute.

So yeah, the Guttmacher Institute isn’t biased or anything.

I’m sorry to offend, but I’m also quite certain you completely misunderstood what I said. I was never implying such a thing.

How did I ever miss this November report? Sooooo, let’s see here - we have the health industry and the government saying that abortions, contraceptives, and sterlilizations are issues directly related to “health”, but having a baby isn’t? Who’s gonna believe this one, especially those in the medical field?
This is the $64,000 question. I would think even this administration might realize they can never get away with this. Even with this HHS Mandate looming, I feel at times that we are living in the twilight zone…(are ya’ll old enough to remember the “twilight zone”?)😛

No, it’s carefully guarded. Heck, Obama even accepted the Margaret Sanger award. I wonder if he knows that Margaret Sanger most likely would have liked to see him aborted.
Actually, (and this is by no means a defense of Margaret Sanger) she wouldn’t have. Sanger was opposed to abortion both out of a concern for the health of the mother and based on her belief that life began at conception. She favored contraception and sterilization, but not abortion.

While I do not under any circumstances support Sanger and her views on family planning, I do believe that if we’re going to use sensational rhetoric it should at least be accurate.

are you sure about this?I saw a video ,Margaret Sanger being interviewed. She came right out and said that she felt the black race inferior and imbicilic. She was all about ethnic cleansing.

Don’t get me wrong…she was definitely racist. All I’m saying is that she was opposed to abortion, or at least claimed to be in her autobiography.

Planned Parenthood missed the memo: This isn’t about contraception, it’s about freedom of conscience.

Obama is married to planned parenthood, yet you can’t be pro choice and Catholic.
Well, I guess it comes down to what one understands “being Catholic” means. Nancy Pelosi is Catholic, or says she is, and she is pro choice, and pro Planned Parenthood. I apologize for my ignorance, but is there an authoritative source that defines with reasonable exactitude what a Catholic is? I have read that the Church counts everyone who has been baptized Catholic to be Catholic. If that is true there are a lot of Catholics who sure don’t fit in when it comes to beliefs and practices.

Wow, those words upsettingly harsh.
So is referring to human beings as “grist” and “defectives”. The rights to her books were owned by PP for many years and they refused to allow them to be published because of their radical racist and eugenic content. Now they have been released…I had planned to relay a few quotes but honestly they are too disgusting and I don’t have the stomach for it. A book like “Woman and the new race” tells the true story about this person’s goals for America. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to accept and award with her name on it.
btw…she might not have seen him aborted…She would more likely have had his mother sterilized.

This is true. There are a lot of folks (especially here) who jump at the chance to declare whether someone is “Catholic” or not, but if they have been baptized in the Church, they are Catholic. They may be in an extreme state of sin (though it is not ours to determine the state of another’s salvation), but they are Catholic nonetheless.

Lots of people also like to jump on the excommunication latae sententiae (in other words, automatic excommunication for violation of canon law) bandwagon, but the fact of the matter is that this has been rarely enforced by the Church. It is a common misconception that excommunication somehow makes someone no longer Catholic; this is absolutely false. They are still Catholic, but they are barred from receiving the Eucharist and other Sacraments and participating in ministerial duties. They are still required to attend Mass.

So yes, it is wrong for us to say “so-and-so is not Catholic” (assuming they are baptized in the Church), no matter what we think their sins may be or how much we disagree with them.

This would be a more accurate representation of her worldview.

DECEPTION ALERT! BE READY WITH THE ANSWER!

The big charge is that contraceptives prevent ovarian cancer. I looked it up.

Only oral contraceptives show a decrease BUT they show an INCREASE in BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER!
Researchers have focused a great deal of attention on OC users over the past 40 years. This scrutiny has produced a wealth of data on OC use and the development of certain cancers, although results of these studies have not always been consistent. The risk of endometrial and ovarian cancers is reduced with the use of OCs, **while the risk of breast and cervical cancers is increased **(1). A summary of research results for each type of cancer is given in Questions 2–5. cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/oral-contraceptives
How do oral contraceptives affect liver cancer risk?
Several studies have found that OCs increase the risk of liver cancer in populations usually considered low risk, such as white women in the United States and Europe who do not have liver disease. In these studies, women who used OCs for longer periods of time were found to be at increased risk for liver cancer. However, OCs did not increase the risk of liver cancer in Asian and African women, who are considered high risk for this disease. Researchers believe this is because other risk factors, such as hepatitis infection, outweigh the effect of OCs (15).
This fact sheet addresses only what is known about OC use and the risk of developing cancer. It does not deal with other serious side effects of OC use, such as the increased risk of cardiovascular disease

I don’t care if every Catholic in the world (bar the local Church of Rome and her bishop, which cannot fall) started using birth control. That doesn’t make birth control right. The same as if all those Catholics said Jesus wasn’t God. Jesus wouldn’t cease being God. They’d cease being Catholics.

Catholic schools and parishes need to make this document more widely available and taught.

Re-reading Humanae Vitae I noted that the pope warned against the effects of artificial birth control: marital infidelity, general lowering of moral standards, reducing women to mere instruments of pleasure, and remarkably, he warned of the imposition of contraception by public authorities. This was 1968. All of that came to pass, but the effects have been even more diabolic than he predicted.

Nancy Pelosi - Roman Catholic
Vice President Biden - Roman Catholic
HHS Secretary Nancy Sibellius - Roman Catholic

We have met the enemy and they are encamped with us!

Perhaps it’s time for the American Bishops in concert with the Holy See and His Holiness to draw a firm line in the sand with these “faithful.”

If the Pope should be coming down on anyone, it’s those American bishops for appealing to him to draw the line. It’s perfectly within their authority to actually do something about the apostates in government who dare to impose upon God’s Church. For the love of God it’s their job to do so! There’s no need for Rome to get involved if the bishops just grow a spine.

The Catholic faith has already drawn the line. It’s time to man to the ramparts and defend it.
