So apparently it’s okay to invoke the Holocaust if you’re on the right side of the aisle.

Are you saying planned “parenthood” is not guilty of more mass murder than the Nazis?

I’m saying when AOC invoked the Holocaust, conservatives threw a fit not only because they felt it was an historically inaccurate analogy but also because it was insulting to those who died in and survived the Holocaust. I guess those who actually experienced the Holocaust aren’t really a priority after all, so long as those invoking it express enough outrage.

Was Ocasio-Cortez comparing the Holocaust to the extermination of 7.5 million human beings by planned “parenthood?”
I missed that part.

People have been calling abortion a holocaust for decades now.
They shouldn’t be. Genocide? Okay. But there was only one Holocaust (capital H) and its memory shouldn’t be co-opted.

From a numbers perspective, he’s correct.
From a humanitarian perspective, he’s correct.

However, I still think it diminishes the holocaust when we use it to argue about issues today. So just like when the Congresswoman from NY used it, I’m cringing this time as well.

In both cases, the Holocaust was invoked. I’m sure you didn’t miss that part. If folks don’t like it being used when discussing the immigration crisis, they shouldn’t like it when it’s used at all.

It is unfair in one sense to compare planned “parenthood” to the Nazis since pp has murdered 1.5 million more, and continues to murder.

yes, but there’s a difference between “a holocaust” and “the Holocaust”. The Holocaust should not be easily invoked to make a political point no matter which side you are on.

AOC’s comparison didn’t work because the US is not rounding people up to kill them. So her comparison was ridiculous and quite possibly malicious.

However, actual people are being killed by abortion, and this is possible because they have been deemed to be less than human, which bears a much closer resemblance to what happened in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany. The Holocaust is evoked precisely for that resemblance.

Did you come on here and vociferously complain when Ocasio-Cortez made her comparison?
Do you understand that there is no sane comparison between border camps detaining illegal immigrants, vs. 6 or 7.5 million murders?

Ah, but as I noted earlier, historical inaccuracy wasn’t the only reason given when people argued against her comparison. And there are plenty of differences between the Holocaust and abortion. Again, abortion may in fact be a genocide. But there was only one Holocaust.

By the objections being presented here, no mass murder of millions can be compared to any other mass murder of millions, because that’s unfair to a socialist congresswoman.
How many did Mao’s regime murder? or Stalin’s?
Can’t compare them to the Nazis, though, right? Even though historians have been doing so for decades.

What’s your expertise in this area?

As a Catholic, I will never vote for a pro-abortion politician. I don’t care what the rest of their platform is.
