She was talking, it seems, of her perception, which she noted turned out to wrong, of the nature of the courts decision.
She said: Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.

Who are those populations that we don’t want to have too many of?

I totally agree. I was a bit aghast that that statement would be defended, you know, if we are talking about concentration camps, one can not think of the citizenry under whose noses those places happened. Sometimes, it’s best to step back from something and just say “oh dear.”

Why do you persist in extracting this out of context. The key questions is who is the “we” in the sentence. Is RGB including herself in this we. That is the place to start before even asking who it is that we don’t want to have to many of? And BTW of all of the people who use this quote out of its context to malign RGB - how many have asked her either of these questions.
And also BTW, if you you are looking at the sentence out of context, then let’s think about how it informs discussion about national policy on immigration.

What is being defended is fairness, rather than taking quotes out of context and jumping to conclusions about meaning. Again, quoting another poster “I am sorry that some people choose to interpret things in a way that is out of context and inimical to cordial relations”.

Well, there has been quite a decline in the number of Downs Syndrome babies who have been birthed. The planned parenthood facilities in my area are both in majority minority population neighborhoods. The yellow dot is Seattle’s Madison planned parenthood. Blue segments are census tracts with relatively high African American concentrations, red is relatively high Hispanic. County average for African American population is 6.2%. (2010 census data=source)
Note: the neighborhood is the C.D. and has been high African American for generations. Coincidence that P.P. set up shop in the area?

Ok, please explain RBG’s comment.

And btw, you totally brushed me off on HRC’s comment, so what?

You might better ask her, or look to see if anyone else has and published it.
The big is who is “we”? Unlike the death campus in the holocaust, there is no organized effort on the part of the US government to select or to pressure abortions. I don’t know of any pro-choice person - even the ones glibly called pro-abortion or abortions-supporter who id not opposed to such actions where they exist. I am extremely doubtful that a Jew of RGB’s age who find such a eugenics plan anything other than abhorrent. I may be wrong, but you will have to do more than pull a sentence out of context and interpret it uncharitably to convince me.
And btw, you totally brushed me off on HRC’s comment,
Not sure what. you are talking about. Is it your misquote and about Trump supporters?
I pointed out the problem for you.

It’s been shown that most planned parenthood clinics are in the poor neighborhoods. So, one can dismiss this as irrelevant, we all can judge. 80% of them or more are in such zipcodes.

So the left gets to hyperanalyze and deem their interpretation as the only possible one, but conservatives just have to go with the liberal’s response of “of course that’s not what they meant!”

Got it.

I have looked for some explanation of what RBG said and all I can find is that of course she didn’t mean what she said.

We? What does we mean except I and others? It certainly doesn’t mean they.

And what about her using the word don’t? This interview was given decades after the fact, and yet she said …populations we don’t want too many of.

We all can opine. And we all should give links.
I am not sure why one would expect clinics to be in high-income neighborhoods, where overhead is presumably high.

I am not sure who and what you are talking about in the “hperanalysis of the left”. But I think all comments should be held to high standards.

> If people will take a closer look, they will see that — at least in the case of 165 Planned Parenthood clinics in 2010 — almost 80 percent were “within walking distance” of communities with large minority populations, said the Rev. Arnold M. Culbreath, urban outreach director of Protecting Black Life, which has a report from Life Issues Institute to back up his claims.

> The clinic-placement issue is a major talking point in the pro-life movement, said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America. If they are still trying to disprove this, “it means that what we are doing is working, and it’s getting to them,” she said.

> The theme of genocide-by-abortion has long been used by pro-life leaders, who say the eugenics activism of Margaret Sanger and other early abortion supporters is alive and well in modern abortion practices.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson tells the story of a private conversation he had with an ACLU leader about abortion…

Thanks for this clip of Dr. Ben Carson - how very true, inspiring, and teaching is his message. A great and good man .

Someone with an agenda here. What would you say to me who says that if we are to stop spending for Planned Parenthood, then we should also support more spending for Community Health Centers and Family Resource Centers in order to advocate, build, create, develop and expand social conditions that to abortion unnecessary; for example, if I am a shill for this but as we stop spending for PP, what is your reply to someone who says that scaling up Community Health Centers can not only give resources that patients from those areas may need (STD testing, support and treatment, mammograms and appropriate resources for things like care, prevention and treatment not to mention pre-natal/post-natal care and support) also basic resources like primary care, meanwhile Family Resource Centers are a needed resource in order to support families specially struggling families and families in need?

This sounds crazy but what would you say to someone who feels like stopping 500 million in spending ought to be matched by 100 billion in Community Health Centers and another 100 billion in Family Resource Centers and Support Programs, realizing my parallels are extreme though would like a response.

In such cases, though, would you say that all three matters (stopping spending on PP, supporting spending for FRCs and CHCs) while very well interconnected or relevant to each other, are all separate issues and my point is extreme?

People have needs in living well. This fact endures as long as one lives. Living to begin with is what needs to be loved and protected according to the Law of God and everything Jesus Christ taught.
Priorities of spending American money must be based according to this fundamental reason. Errors in the process of determining how the laws are carried out are a fact of human fallibility. Reversing an abominable error that murders unborn babies in the womb and selling their body parts has the highest priority.
Social centers with a variety of purpose are not the fundamental necessity of protecting Life and defeating this most heinous evil.
America must speak repeatedly to defeat the hate fueled ruin the Progressive Left has perpetrated over nearly 3/4 of a century at this point. Political correctness has been the tool used to further their cause - the result is perversion of understanding.
