Why do they want to “increase abortions?” Maybe it is because they believe women there are becoming mothers at a younger age. Well, that happens here in Canada too, and I certainly wouldn’t want to see abortions happen more often. They should have more opportunities and missions in foreign countries to help young mothers find work so they can support a family. I think that would be more helpful.

I’m not sure I understand.:confused:
Isn’t abortion, in the secular view at least, supposed to be a last resort??? Since when did it become a business?:confused: These are lives we are talking about!:eek:

It’s been a long, long time since PP has seen it that way.

That, and in African/developing countries, abortion is perceived as a reproductive health and preventive AIDS/HIV mechanism – so increasing it, in the human rights framework, is a good thing. :sad_yes:

The whole framework is very, very messed up.

How would abortion prevent AIDS/HIV???:confused: Sex has already been had, what the heck kind of good is having an abortion going to do after the fact…:confused:

They want to prevent (unwanted or wanted) children from being born with it. (I know, the argument needs a lot of work, but that is honestly used for justification.)

Anything can be used as justification by a group to justify the end result, but that does not mean the justification is morally or ethically right.

I guess I must be new to this…I cannot understand why a group would want to increase abortions. I thought most secular views were that it was a last resort at best. Maybe I need to get out more…🤷

This group does not care if they kill a child, or how many they kill as long as they make their millions of dollars off of the deaths. Abortion (killing an unborn human child) is only an industry to them. It bring in millions of dollars at the sacrifice of millions of children’s lives. In our “culture of death”, abortion is the first choice.

Then I would ask - do these people at Planned Parenthood have children? If so, would they treat their own children as disposable?
Do these people actually place money above the life of a child?? If so, how are they better than any other criminal of a similar nature? It makes no sense.

Both lives should be protected - the mother’s and the child’s. Everything should be done to care for both. It’s not a light issue we’re talking about here.
So I cannot understand how people would willingly make themselves a part of an industry based on money-driven abortions. How could they, especially if they have children of their own?

Incidentally, what exactly is the Church’s teaching on cases of dire medical emergencies where the mother’s life is in extreme danger??

Some time ago, last year, a woman was arrested for dumping her child in a rain water gutter. I heard about it on a radio show while driving to work. I believe it was a new born (a day after discharge from hospital, and that’s usually 24h after delivery) and she let it die there. The mother was a poor woman, illiterate, teenage, and from the previously disadvantaged community here in Cape Town, South Africa. Anyhow, radio callers called in and most were upset by it, but many in addition to being upset, stated that she could have had a simple abortion and not have gone through the shock of having to abandon her new born baby.
Some people blamed the nursing staff who are usually anti-abortion and who don’t readily push abortion or who look down on women undergoing abortion procedures. I should say that most of the people who called in where white and English in heritage.

I brought up the paradox of “poor woman should have had an abortion instead of just abandoning her child to die” (after all a dead baby is a dead baby) to some colleagues at work. Only the Muslim woman sided with me (albeit secretly). The Christian people, quite feminist said, it was OK and how dare I, being a guy (who does not sleep around and does not impregnate innocent girls but anyway) comment about the issue. The baby was not considered at all, only the feelings of the young mother were important.

Of course I’ve delivered my fair share of teenage girls - some as young as 12-13 yo in my younger years and have worked in virtual war zones. I guess I have absolutely no clue about social problems.

Bah, humbug.
