Plans to ban soup runs near Westminster Cathedral
A council is planning to ban soup runs around Westminster Cathedral to discourage rough sleeping in the area.
Westminster Council said up to 100 people gathered at the piazza during soup runs, making it a no-go area for residents and businesses.
Homeless charities Thames Reach and St Mungo’s backed the plans saying “street handouts do little to help people”.
Daniel Astaire, Westminster Council’s cabinet member for society, families and adult services, said: ‘Soup runs have no place in the 21st century and it is wrong and undignified that people are being fed on the streets.
‘Handing out free food only serves to keep people on the streets for longer, damaging their health.’
He said soup runs encourage people to sleep rough in central London and the priority was to get people off the streets altogether.

It makes perfect sense.

“Its only legitimate charity if its from the State’s hand.”

They have a monopoly on violence, they have a monopoly on charity. They’ve finally figured out how its done.
