Name one thing I judged you on??? It’s funny how quite a few people agree with me on forums like this. All I am here is for is to help other towards God so they achieve salvation. Again need I remind you IM lingo is very offensive in the real world

But You are not helping me, My Own Church here helps me, I do what I have to do by it, I dont think my lingo is offensive, I think You are offensive. I Know God, I wish I had a dime for everytime i say his name & call out to him for mercy each day

It’s not all about you, nor is it all about me. I think you are extremely offensive. Weather you realize it or not. You haven’t won one discussion that you entered. You still haven’t explained in what tone I talked to you in. Thus ignoring my post. Gambling in God’s name is a sin.

Again why do you put me on such a pedestal?? You haven’t named one thing that I judged on you or twisted any facts. Again you put me on a pedestal “U” is not an appropriate title for me. You, Toby, Tobinator are. I don’t win every argument on here. I will be the first to admit it. I didn’t know the Catholic Church was built on a mass of one’s opinions. That is where you are wrong. I have to leave and I will respond to you later.

Please tell me how I am condemning you?? I’d like to know. I try to answer as my elders would answer you. I advise you take a look or two at works done by Fr. Corapi and his style. I follow along the style he presents.

I hate to say it, but both of you long ago set aside Christian charity in your posts. This bickering between you two should be moved to private chat rather than ruining the otherwise good thread of the OP. And this is just my thoughts to BOTH Methodi AND Tobinator.

It is a mortal sin for a cathloic to go and play golf on a Sunday and not go to church… What happens to non-cathloic if they do the same thing.

Missing Mass is a mortal sin, unless you have good reason (i.e. you’re ill or traveling - and not in a golf cart).

When I was in grade school, I remember one nun telling us a story (parable, of course) about a man who took his son fishing early one Sunday morning. The man opted for fishing instead of going to Mass because he wanted to get out early, as fisherman do. The boat sank, the father and son drowned and they both went to hell.

Of course, this was the nun’s way of scaring us into not missing Mass for such reasons, but the point of the story is clear. If you miss Mass, that is considered grave matter and you should get to confession as soon as possible.

What happens when a non-Catholic does the same?? Who knows. That’s God’s department.

But then you get in a car accident or some other emergency comes up that makes it impossible for you to attend that later Mass.

However, that being said, there are some very poorly instructed Catholics (especially cradle Catholics who’s parents treated church as a social event and never taught their kids about the obligation), for whom it might be a venial sin. Best discussed with a spiritual director (which will hopefully lead to instruction on the obligation).

If there there are other masses offered on Sunday, as long as you go once you can fulfill you obligated as does going on Saturday night.
