Please explain How do you hide in His Wounds?

Hiding in His wounds. How is this accomplished?

When has anyone here done this and how did you do it and how did it turn out for you?

Are people finding that all they have to do to hide, is to think about images of water or of blood in regards to Christ’s wounds? And pray on those images?

My own impression is that the wounds symbolize a sanctuary of mercy. Were it not for Christ’s sacrifice for our sins, we would be screwed (to put it mildly). For the repentant, when we “hide in the wounds” God sees the sacrifice when he sees us and our sins, so we are shielded by the sacrifice… the “ransom” covers due punishment. Doesnt get more comforting than that… except for the sorrow, grief, and despair that we are moved by, for our Lord to paid such a price in the first place.

They have to have faith and be sincerely repentant before getting the privilege “to hide.”

The expression is certainly not literal in meaning, but spiritual, in some way. Like anything else, an expression like that catches on and we may or may not understand the context in which it was originally used.

My guess is that this expression originates sometimes in the middle ages, with some Christian mystic.

I would be delighted to hear if someone knows the true origin of that phrase. Unless I am mistaken, it originates outside of scripture.

I think the search of this understanding is more desirable for the people who live in big suffering and who pass through heaviest exams of life and faith.

We all should hide in His wounds in our life journey, but there are circumstances in some much suffering people’s lives when the emphesize of this truth and reality is vital necessity.

There is very much suffering all over the globe at all times.

Can it all be turned to redemptive suffering?..would be a good idea for another thread topic perhaps.

I remember when I was a teenager, I read about Father Pio, the Italian priest who literally had the wounds in his hands.
Sometimes these fenomens/miracles happen before, or during some big events which shake the world(before the world wars and so on)
Christ wounds teach us that suffering are necessary in our life.
Innocence does not escape the suffering.
But sometimes the reality of life is Calvary not only for God-man but good people, bad people.
On the Calvary we see two more people suffering the wounds of cross.
But for us the Christ’s wounds are victorious wounds.
The wounds of triumph, victory, glory in Heaven.

Christ wounds teach us that suffering are necessary in our life.

That is a profound lessen to learn, a most difficult one.

The pain is often excruciating, but I do believe it has snatched me back from the gates of hell, refocusing my mind onto the eternal.

This thread was what I needed especially the link that was posted. To many time do I think “why me?” , but never stop to think about Jesus. He bore the weight of my sins past,present and future to come. So to hide in his wounds is a comfort in knowing that we can rest our burdens upon him. Cause he paid our sins price up on the cross.
