  1. JW’s are not Christians! They are a non-believing Cult, with there own “gods” and own ideas of a book of truth. Ours is the nearly 2,000 year old Bible, of which the NT was written by Catholic Men who actually knew Jesus Christ; most of them are giving first-hand-eye-witness accounts of what took place. AND this is proveable even by Secular Historians.
Pat - Please do not speak abusively of other organizations that claim to be Christian. I know for a fact JW’s strive to follow the teachings of Jesus in every day life not just one day a week. They are also not a cult. If so then all christian churches are a cult because it means they follow a man as their leader. (Look it up) They do not worship “GODS” this is total non-sense. Where do you get this information. The believe in one God and His Son Jesus. Your view on the Bible is also wrong - it was written by Jews (there were no Catholics then) Most of the NT is written by Paul who did not know Jesus. So please take the time to find the facts before telling others. If you are sounding hateful you are denying the Christian love you should have for all men.
And where do you get your information? JW’s DENY Jesus divinity and teach Jesus is NOT God! Look it up!
  1. JW’s are but a few hundred years old; founded not by God [not even “a god”] and there Book of wisdom is “of completely human origin.”
PAT - THERE IS NO SUCH THING A A BOOK OF WISDOM IN THE JW’S
Not sure what Pat means here? Maybe their JW tracts?
  1. If one actually takes time to read there monthly passouts; one quickly discovers an anti -Christian; and anti-Catholic slant.GREAT care must be taken when reading these monthly propaganda flyers, and they are not comepletely factual.
PAT - DO OTHER CHURCHES HAND OUT FLYERS - YES - READ SOME!
Yeah do those flyers deny Jesus divinity? Read some!
  1. Like non-Catholic Christians; because they do not have the SINGULAR TRUTHS on Faith and Morals on there side; so they are forced to develope altrenative beliefs; which are geared to be “easier” and more secularly acceptable. This is why they [JW’] unlike the Protestants, who accept most of the Bible; JW’s deny the Divinity of Christ, deny the
Trinity; deny ALL of the Sacraments; deny heaven and hell, and deny the ENTIRE BIBLE.
PAT - THE JW’s WAY OF LIFE IS SO MUCH HARDER THAN ANY OTHER CHRISTIAN MAINSTREAM CHURCH. THEY ADHERE TO BIBLICAL TEACHINGS ON MORALITY AND DO NOT ACCEPT THE VIEW OF THE WORLD ON THINGS MANY CHURCHES EMBRACE OR IGNORE
Maybe compared to other churches.I got news for you,try reading the life of monastic life, which existed long before the JW’s.
  1. The Catholic Church is the ONLY Christian Faith that dates back to the Time of Christ Visitation on earth. The Only Christian religion at the time the Bible was assembled, the NT written and it is the CC that gave the world the Bible.
PAT - I FEEL SORRY THAT YOU WERE TAUGHT OR DEVELOPED THESE BELIEFS ON YOUR OWN - THE "CATHOLIC CHURCH APPEARED HUNDREDS OF YEARS AFTER CHRIST AND GREW FROM WITHIN THE ROMAN EMPIRE. ALL HISTORICALLY DOCUMENTED
And I feel more sorry for you for believing the CC was founded hundreds of years later. It is well DOCUMENTED the CC was NOT founded hundreds of years later. The CC grew from the Roman Empire? Where do you get your bogus info? Learn history.
i do not wish to respond to the rest of your “quote” because I will be repeating mush of what I have said. I can only draw on what I how I have seen “Christians” act (from all churches) as being raised a Catholic that truly deny Christ by their words and deeds. Jesus said his followers will be recognized by their love for one another and their neighbor. At least make sure your accusations are based of truth and accurate information otherwise the tables turn and you look like a cult member spewing hate.
Exactly! Get your facts and stop repeating the same revisionist history.

Been there. Done that.
Get out yesterday!!!
The so-called doctrines of jwism are downright lies, misinterpretations and dangerous to your, and your son’s soul.
Save yourself and your son from a guarenteed future nightmare (I know!) and if you must walk away from the fiance, for the sake of God, walk away.
BTW, no one can lead you astray if you refuse to be lead.
If you no longer feel close to God through The Holy Catholic Church, who moved?

It’s really an interesting coincidence that the two largest quasi-Christian cults, the Jehovah’s -]Witless/-] Witnesses and the -]Morons/-] Mormons, both shun the Holy Cross. It’s almost as if there were somebody, or something, behind those two creeds that is deathly afraid of the true symbol of Jesus Christ.
My dear friend,

just wanted to remark that I don’t think it is okay to write so disrespectful about another religion! (see the marked bold things!)

LDS and JWs are mostly misled by a leadership and often really can’t help. They just don’t know it any better.

I’d really beg you, not to talk about another religion so disrespectfully in future!

in Christ,

macreadys,
While I do not wish to condemn your posts I must say that they are off topic to this thread and can only act to derail what the OP has asked for, which is advice on maintiaining his Catholic faith…Why else would he be posting on a Catholic Forum.

In order to NOT derail this thread, I suggest that your objections to PJM’s comments (particularly regarding when the Catholic Church started) be moved to a new thread.

Peace
James
Pardon me, buy macreadys was responding to a lengthy post replete with error about the JW faith. Why did you not admonish the previous poster to whom he responded? It seems to me that is where the train left the tracks.

As to "posting on a Catholic Forum, I was given the impression that all were welcome, especially in this non-denominational section. If this forum is meant to be only for Catholics please say that more clearly.

James

Hello
Are you learning what the Bible teaches or are you concerned about organizational procedures. Remember what Jesus told his followers that they would be hated because they hated me. Many people find out that the Bible says many things that support or deny traditional teachings and beliefs. I have seen many “Christians” (individuals and organizations) speak out abusively against JW’s but in doing so they go against what Jesus taught about showing love for enemies. Publicly and openly spreading bad things about another group of Christians do not set a good example. It even leads to hostile environments that turn into serious situations. (eg: Ireland - Catholic and Protestant wars)
I am a firm believer in reading the Bible to determine what is true and what false teaching. I have seen many scriptures that do not support the “Christian” mainstream teaching. I have also studied the background and history and development of doctrines and beliefs.
Many had nothing to do with scriptures but are taught as Christian belief.
So I hope you will take the time to examine all things (as the Bible says) and use your judgment as to true and false. Do this with your wife also. But most of all pray for insight and discernment.
As the judgement of individuals has been clouded by pride and selfishness brought about orignal sin, relying on our own judgement to determine what is true and false is a very dangerous strategy.

What you call speaking out abusively against the JW’s, I call defending my own and my Children’s salvation against those who believe that all is fair in matters of spiritual warfare and knock on my front door to tell my Children that Christ was just an ordinary guy.

Nobody is “spreading bad things” about the JW’s nor are we trying to start a war. We are defending our faith against dangerous heresies which will put us at a grave disadvantage when it comes to getting into heaven and in doing so, we are speaking truth.

Your statement that many scriptures don’t support mainstream Christian teaching is only true in so far as you interpret those scriptures. Other’s disagree. What then? This is why God left us a Church and it is that Church which gave us the Bible and teaches authoritatively on matters of faith and morals based on it.

-Tim-

Heb.6: 4 -10: “For it is impossible to restore again to repentance those who have once been enlightened, [Baptized] who have tasted the heavenly gift, [CATHOLIC HOLY COMMUNION] and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, [CONFIRMED AS A CATHOLIC -your decision!] and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, [HAD THE BIBLE PROPERLY, FULLY AND TRUTHFULLY EXPLAINED AT MASS] if they then commit apostasy, since they crucify the Son of God on their own account and hold him up to contempt. For land which has drunk the rain that often falls upon it, and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed; its end is to be burned.”

My friend get on your knees and pray for God’s Grace and Gifts of Faith and right Understanding. We can assist you; BUT ONLY God can save you and your’s.

Look for my PM message,

God Bless,
Pat

God Bless, Pat
Hi grandpa! 😉

Actually I have a bad consious know… I mean, I am also a baptized and confirmed Catholic - and I also left the CC for the Baptists, which is a Trinitarian Protestant Church.
Do the verses of Hebrew also apply to me?

You should know that your remarks directly violate Forum rules. Discussion of differences in beliefs is the pupose of the non-Catholic Religions forum and you make it very difficult for this to happen with these slurs, not to mention that you give the rest of the Catholic posters a bad name.

Our God is a merciful God and there is nothing that you can do that can make Him love you any less. That being said, if it is true that the Catholic Church possesses the fullness of truth, that you had knowledge of this fact and then rejected it, you have placed yourself in spiritual danger. Maybe you should reconsider what you have left behind and the reasons for your leaving. It may very well be that you were not sufficiently catechized and didn’t truly know what you were leaving behind. In any case, it can’t hurt to find that out now. If you have made the right decision, then learning the truth about the Catholic Church should only affirm your decision to leave it. If you find that the Catholic Church does, in fact, possess the the fullness of truth, especially the Eucharist which you do not have in the Baptist Church, then you will have found your true home. The CC will always take you back.

God bless you.

To the OP: I was a JW for years. Like you, I got lured in by a boyfriend and his very nice family whom I grew to love. I met many wonderful JWs whose main goal in life was to serve Jehovah. They are to be comended for their dedication.

That doesn’t excuse the fact that their beliefs are 100% incorrect. The Bible warns that many false prophets will come claiming to speak for God, and you’ll know they are false prophets because the things they claim that are about to happen - don’t. Throughout their brief history, the JWs have made countless claims as “Jehovah’s mouthpiece” … lots & lots of dates & predictions have been given… and not one came true. Not one. The house in California built for the ressurected prophets of old was eventually sold… Millions now living did die… The generation of 1914 passed away… ask your elder friend about that. And here’s what he’ll say… the light got brighter… and he’ll make other excuses for why the prophecies failed. He may even try to convince you that they aren’t prophets at all… which isn’t true… they continually claim to speak for Jehovah. If that isn’t a self-proclaimed prophet, what is?

Bottom line, I’m worried for you - and even more importantly, I’m worried for your dear child. They are a cult. Their members have been brainwashed. Their beliefs are wrong.

Do a google search - failed Jehovah’s Witness prophecies… you’ll see.

Come back home to your Catholic Faith. Jesus is here… He IS God… not “a god” - but God. Surely you know that?

I will pray for you. I mean that with all of my heart, from someone who’s been there. You may love your girlfriend, but if being with her means becoming a JW, the cost is too great. For you - and for your child.

joberender - First of all please ignore those posts by some “christians” who are telling you that you dont need a church. Jesus DID found a Church, and that Church still exists today. If we didnt need a Church, Jesus would have have founded one. He didnt found a book nor write down anything nor command anybody to write the Bible. It was the Church that He founded that canonized a set of books and claimed it was the word of God.

Those that are telling you to not go to any church is a form of proselytizing and that is against forum rules.

Another thing that you can do is go buy a book that is called “Index of Watchtower Errors”. It was not written by a Catholic but there is nothing anti-CC in it. All it is are quotes from different JW publications that contradict themselves so much that its laughable. It cites all the quotations. Then ask yourself, is this really the true Church that has God contradicting Himself time and time again because the Watchtower society claims what they say is not their organization speaking but God.

Stay away from them like the plaque. Also, remember that we are to love God above anything, or anybody. You may have to make a hard decision, if you know what I mean.

I too studied with JW’s for 7 years, never did join though. Here is a short version of my story.

First I was told that I needed to get rid of my Crusifix, pictrues of Jesus, Mary ect that I had, because that was “Idol” worship. Yet, why can they print pictures of Jesus and such in their books if having pictures of Jesus in my home is wrong?

Ask them for the list of names of the scholars who transcribed thier Bible. If you do a “search” you will find that out of the 5 (I believe it was 5 men) who transcribed their Bible, only 1 had “some” hewbrew and greek background, the others did not. Also they do not list the “team of transcribers” in their Bible. Pick up any “Other” Bible and you will find the Names of the Men who did translate the Bible. Their answer will be on why they don’t release the names is because they don’t want anyone “thinking” or honoring the translators…or something on that order.

Point Blank ask them about the Trinity. They don’t believe in the Trinity. They say yes Jesus was the son of God, but is Not God. They believe that Jesus was a creature “created” by God. They also believe Jesus is Michael the Archangle.

Yes they will tell you that Chirstmas is Pagan…Why then did the JW’s use to celebrate Chirstmas? That was until someone else took over the head of the JW’s.

Also here is something big…Every year they have the “Memorial Supper”. Why is it then hardly and I mean Hardly no one can partake of the communion? Only those knowing they are going to Heaven can partake. The rest of the people believe they will be ruling on Earth and will never make it to Heaven, so therefore they can’t take part in the Memorial Supper, Only to Observe it. I went to one of these Memorial Suppers and only 1 person took communion…out of the whole kingdom hall…and surprise surprise it was a Woman…none of their “Elders or Decons” par took.

I have no doubt you are in love with this lady. But she needs to ask herself the question, what held her back from being baptised in the Kingdom Hall?

If you do join the JW’s you will also be required to either change your family(mom, dad, brothers sisters) into JW’s or leave them out of your life…for good. If you don’t leave them out of your life, your family…then you will be kicked out of the church. Kingdom Hall. Of course they don’t tell you this all up front.

I had a JW I was studing with and one day she brought someone with her here, both women tried talking me into Leaving my husband, since he had refused to study with us for 7 years. They told me I would have to divorce my husband, if I wanted to join the JW’s. Also if I couldn’t get my adult children to become JW’s I would have to live my life without them…

I’m not making this up…this is a requirement. Not to mention you have to become a “Publisher” to continue your membership. That is going door to door, like they do and you must fill in a card with your hours and the homes you visited. If you don’t do this, once again you are told you can’t be part of the JW Kingdom Hall.

After being told all of this…I came Running, not walking back to the Catholic Church!

Never put No one above your relationship with God! For in the End, it’s not your life here that matters, for this life is but a few short years…Where you end up Forever, is what truely matters!!!

May Our Holy Father Guide you.

Well, that’s actually my sorrow…
I mean, I’ve been posting nearly 1000 posts here in CAF! And I really have learned a lot about the CC.
But the “problem” is, it’s all in my head, but not in my heart, i.e. I don’t believe it (That the CC is founded by Jesus, that it’s the only true church, the pillar and foundation etc.)

So, at what point do you know enough about the CC to be a heretic? And thus have problems getting into heaven? (Like PJM [and you] made evident?)

macreadys,

The JWs read the same incomplete 66-book Bible you do. It’s the interpretation, don’tchaknow. The thousands of denominations in the world are all based on the same Bible.

Jim Dandy
The JW’s use a bible that was “translated” by 4 of their members and change words to go along with what they believe… To say that they use the same bible as thousands of denominations is just not true. They use their OWN translation which is not the same as the main line Protestant version.
You can find the differences in the translations if you do a web search.

Well, I would say right out of the shoot that you are incorrect that the Catholic Church was not founded by Jesus. This is a matter of historical record, not just a Catholic opinion. You may argue that the Catholic Church went off of the rails at some point, but you cannot argue that it was not the original Church. There simply was no other Church for over 1500 years. Even with the schism in 1053 the doctrines remained the same bewteen the western and eastern Churches. Be careful of who’s history you are reading (i.e. Lorraine Bottner & company). The fact that the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth comes from Sacred Scripture. I think you need to take a second look. If it wasn’t the Catholic Church, then which Church was it? The Baptists?

This is not the appropriate thread to discuss these matters and we are going off topic. I will pray that you find the truth. God bless.

Well the fact you do not believe the CC was founded by Jesus does not make it false or negate it as a fact. One can deny many Christian truths, but it still exists. If the CC was not founded by Jesus, then it is a confirmed fact, no non-Catholic Church was founded by Jesus, but by mere mortals.😉
