Please help me, I just want to be with God

how do you find a “spiritual” priest?? do you have to go through a lot of “unspritual” ones b4 you find him?? I am not being facetious here… I have gone to confession a few times b4 and found that i felt much worse after going… one priest was impatient, didn’t listen, interrupted, and seemed very cold and uncaring… Then there are some who just give u absolution and that’s it… I think priests should talk a little with the person about how to avoid the sin in the future, or whatever…

God gave us a great one, Melkezadek, He gave him to us in the personage of Jesus (pbwh).

In the personage he did not tech us to seek religious “leaders”, he told us if we wrong our brother sort it then bring gifts to the alter of God.
Jesus (pbwh) taught to pray to God.

i dont know about your area, but you should ask around if any one know of a good priest that you can go and talk to. make an appointment with him.
for example my priest is a franciscan and sometimes we sit and talk for over an hour.
I pray you find one holy priest who can help you.

visit as many catholic churches you can until you find one.

As for fear of hell, don’t worry 'bout it. That’s where we all start.

Just remember that God knows you better than you know yourself. He understands what you are going through. He is merciful. Try to sometimes give yourself a little break and look at the world around you and thank God for some good thing. Just for a minute think of God as your friend. If you are going to eat some thing you really like, thank him for it. Find something beautiful, or funny and say a sincere thank you. The one thing that you know is true is that all good things come from God. So thank and praise him several times a day when you experience something good. You are going through a bad time but this might help to build your trust that God loves you and will bring you through it.

I’m not sure if anyone else warned about this (I don’t have time to read every post), but there are two religions that people with OCD tend to be drawn to: traditional Catholicism and Orthodox Judaism.

I suspect this is because both religions are very ritualistic, and Orthodox Judaism has rituals that must be performed even at certain times of the day. All of this would look very attractive to someone struggling with OCD.

Some studies I have read indicate that some of the Catholic saints, who were very much afflicted by scruples, actually had OCD.

I applaud you for your spiritual search, but isn’t it best to find your version of God through love rather than fear?

In the RCC they have a prayer called An Act of (Perfect) Contrition, in which you tell God you are sorry for your sins not only because of a fear of hell, but because the sins offend God.

Normally an Act of Contrition is supposed to suffice, but if you are in danger of death, you are supposed to make an Act of Perfect Contrition.

Maybe this should indicate to you that LOVE should be the overriding reason to serve God, and not only a fear of punishment.

In my religion, we do not believe in hell in the Christian sense. Yet the religious among us serve God, keep His commandments, anyway…even though we do not have to worry about going to hell if we don’t. We do it out of LOVE for God.

I am familiar with the religion of your upbringing (Hinduism), and I know that religion is similar to Christianity in that they have some very gruesome depictions of angry demons, hellfire and the like. Maybe part of your fear stems from that?

Anyway, try to focus on serving God out of LOVE rather than FEAR.

You go to hell if you choose it, and you are choosing Jesus always remember how much He loves you and remember that you can always go to confession and repent of your evil thoughts, and even ask for exorcism . Talk to Jesus, He won’t let go off you, He will help you, do not be afraid, He knows your weaknesses because He came to heal them He is much happier with you when you trust Him and He is sad if you do not you will be in my prayers

The thoughts that accompany OCD are not sinfull because they are not voluntary acts of the will.

1853 …The root of sin is in the heart of man, in his free will, according to the teaching of the Lord: "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a man."128 But in the heart also resides charity, the source of the good and pure works, which sin wounds.

People with OCD do not choose to have obsessive thoughts so the thoughts are in no way sinfull.

I think you need to see a Psychiatrist and pronto before you do something to yourself. Your post sounds like you are on the verge of a total breakdown. God does work through medicine, you know.

Today the Mass readings were pretty… “scary”… St. Matthew 7:21: People are trying to get into Heaven… they say they have done “mighty deeds” for Him, but Jesus rejects them…saying “Depart from me, I never knew you” .He says, “Not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven but he who does the will of God.”
The priest mentioned about how some people think they can just accept Christ as personal savior & everything is OK… .
It is dangerous to believe that a person is not required to obey the commandments (not to mention that it is NOT true… )… If you commit adultery, 4 example, you are going to hurt your spouse, your children &others… and your own soul… (the Catholic Church teaches that every sin you commit affects the entire Body of believers… in fact, i think She teaches that every sin u commit affects everyone… ). If you die unrepentant of this sin (& /or others), you will have a terrible stain on your soul & will not be allowed inot Heaven where all is PURE and holy… & right. God cannot stand to be in the presence of evil… (neither can you, if you think about it…). He may (does) allow evil in this world, but there is NONE allowed in Heaven (Reve 21:27, etc.)…

OP has every reason to fear Hell… his (her?) fears are not un-founded… or irrational… He has a healthy fear of God, which is more than i can say for people who believe in that OSAS nonsense… “Fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom…”

It would be great if we could all serve God from Love, not fear…that is an ideal… albeit a lofty, unrealistic one… When love doesn’t work (and it doesn’t because we are all weak, pathetic sinners, endlessly attracted to sin… which destroys our souls)… fear is a good & healthy thing…

We try to focus on serving God out of love, not fear.

God does not *send *people to hell… but certain people who have let themselves be taken over by the devil through a life full of sin and disobedience cannot stand the purity and holiness of God on the day of personal jugement.

Catholics believe the same way… It is only those who totally reject God and forgiveness who end up in Hell…

According to Marian apparitions (and the Word of God), many people end up in Hell… so obviously, many people reject God and His forgivneness (Jesus)… though many might SAY otherwise… which is what the Scirpture was about today in Mass… Not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of Heaven… but those who do the will of the Father… St. Matthew 7:21 (those who DO the Word of God, not just believe in it or say they believe in it…)… To TRULLY believe in it is to do it…

certain issues yes… central yes… but not the only central ones. Indeed I believe we have much in common.
You strive to do your best, follow your conscience, love each person and forgive people. You hope and depend on the mercy of God. You follow your conscience and you pray for peace and understanding and a soon coming of the Messiah…

We all here strive to serve truth and most of us confirm there is an absolute Person in whom we put our trust because He has done mighty things and shown His love to us time and time again through history and in our personal life.
As we do our best and humbly call upon the Lord for help and we refrain from judging other people we hope for His mercy, we trust in His Love and Faithfulness.

Indeed most people strive and long for truth and try to do well to others … We are all humans and we have our weakness and inner longings for love, truth, and understanding in common.
Many times we will be wise to give each other a break and focus on our common existence on this earth that the Lord has given to us all.

This is a very good post, I dont think any of us have offered better

First of all, thoughts are merely thoughts - they cannot hurt anyone. You need to go to your doctor and get yours meds reassessed as clearly, they are not working for you. Another problem you have is extreme anxiety. You think you are so bad that you fear you will continue to do more and more bad things. You have to remind yourself a thousand times a day that FEELINGS ARE NOT FACTS. When you are struggling with emotional illness, FEELINGS LIE TO YOU. TELL THEM YOU WILL NO LONGER LISTEN. Imagine your thoughts are coming to you in a voice from a small box sitting on a table in front of you. Every time you have such thoughts kick that box away. Refuse to give it power. We all do things wrong and think things wrong. God understands your pain and I know he does not want you to beat yourself up like that. So, for the time being, stop worrying about what God thinks and get thee to your doctor or a better doctor where OCD can be controlled. I also strongly suggest you seek help for your anxiety. When you are calmer and more at peace, then worry about what religion suits you. You are NOT what your thoughts tell you and you are NOT alone thinking this way. You can recovery from this disorder and live a normal life. You are not to blame for the horrific things your mind is doing to you. Don’t kick yourself when you are down. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!!
