I’ve been feeling far away from God right now because I’ve not received Holy Communion for a few weeks now. I need to go to confession, even though I don’t think I’ve committed any mortal sins; my reasoning is that I desire to be in a state of Grace and thus be pure in order to receive Jesus worthily. But I feel I’m unable to pray much without the graces that come from the Sacrament of Holy Communion. I try, but I can’t seem to foster a devotion to a pious prayer habit or even just use conversational prayer as often as I’d like.

I’ve also felt very lost because there are many lay Catholic voices that are all over the Internet, and it seems they have divided themselves into two factions over the rituals, tradition, and practices of the Church. One side seems to make a valid argument, but then the other side comes back and rebuts it with some solid evidence to support their argument. Sometimes I don’t know who to believe, since both sides use Vatican documents to back up what they’re arguing. At times it makes me physically ill or hurt, almost as if I’m feeling what Jesus must feel when His Body, the Church, is so divided like this. My heart actually felt torn when another Catholic claimed to have “more faith” than many members of the Church, whether clergy or laypeople. It made me question whether or not I was truly a Catholic anymore, even though I was born, baptized, and raised in the faith. 😦

Please, I ask that you pray for me that I might see and understand more clearly about what the Church has taught on various traditions, disciplines, and rituals, and that I realize yes, I am still a Catholic because I hold what the Church teaches to be true. I am praying (or at least trying) that I can get to confession soon, because I’m not doing so great at avoiding some sins without the grace from the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion. Those two sacraments have, at least of late, gone hand-in-hand for me.

Thank you in advance for your support. :gopray2:

Dear Friend, Jesus wants to come to you and it is sad for Him that you don’t come even though you say you’ve not committed a mortal sin. He is your healer and your companion.

“Have nothing to do with the pointless philosophical discussions and antagonistic beliefs of the ‘knowledge’ which is not knowledge at all; by adopting this, some have gone right away from the faith. Grace be with you.” [1 Timothy 6 20-21]

Dear Friend don’t let others’ positions lead you from JESUS. JESUS is the focus. THE TEACHINGS OF THE GOSPEL are your focus. Don’t let discussions cloud the vision of your soul and nature which will find no rest until you rest in Him (St Augustine)

The discussions are irrelevant to your spirit. it is the MASS that matters, what it intrinsically is. Dear soul, Jesus wasn’t concerned with debate over form. He simply gave us the Mass as the highest prayer, as thanksgiving, sacrifice, praise and communion with HIM, with ALL our Brothers and Sisters throughout time. And HE wsn’t concerned about language. He ‘said’ the first Mass in His own language.

Please don’t let issues keep you from Jesus, or scandalise you. Didn’t Jesus also say, “Come to Me all you who labor and are weary, and I will refresh you”!

You’re not far from God dear One. You just have your eyes closed for the moment! He’s there with you! Put your poor battered heart into His care, and trust Him with your life and love.

With love, Trishie

Praying for you to feel the gentle simplicity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, refreshing your good, sincere heart. And you are good, and precious.

Praying for your intentions. For your courage to come back and receive absolution, to receive Christ in the blessed sacrament, and praying for the unity of the mystical body - when one person sins the whole Church is injured - I believe you are experiencing those wounds now. Remember though no matter how dark things get, the Church has already had the worst day it ever could: The day after the crucifixion when the entire college of cardinals ran and hid - that will never happen again.

I think it was the apparition at Fatima who said there is a place in heaven just for you - without you it will be forever empty. I believe the same holds true for the Church militant here on Earth just as much as for the Church Triumphant. You are part of the mystical body of Christ - not “just a part”. The hand can do nothing without the wrist connecting it to the arm, and the whole body can do nothing without the head

St. Maria Goretti, pray for us. :gopray:

That’s an amazing response. Dear Friend, God is taking good care of you and obviously loves your very dearly

God works in so many mysterious ways. I have felt lost myself recently because I was so angry that my husband has pancreatic cancer and then I lost my job because I took too much time off from work to take him to chemo and got to many “personal” calls from the drs. A while back, there was a baptism and I left mass, leaving my mom (who lives with us) and my husband in the pew. I went outside and was just praying, praying, praying. My husband came out to see about me and I toldhim I just didn’t have it in me to celebrate a “new” life when so much was misfortune had been sent our way. God worked yet another miracle through me and I feel blessed again…What’s done is done and all I can do is march forward. God is in our HEARTS and souls together with the holy spirit and the son. For me, I try not to listen to the “debates” and arguments (bitter at times)…I just have to do what Christ leads ME to do…I’m praying for you. I know it is hard but the 10 Commandments say it all…Keep your chin up and keepus posted…we’re here to pray for you and with you.

Venial sins are forgiven in the Penetential Rite at the beginning of Mass. So you can receive communion the next time yo attend Mass. Of course, you will still need to confess those sins, but they are already forgiven.

Dear Lord, please enter Your servant, DonaNobis_Pacem, in a special way, and fill them with the grace needed to see You and only You in Your Holy Church. In Jesus name we pray.

Hi DonaNobis_Pacem,
I will definately be praying for you right now.
Just a few little things before I pray. God is so wonderful, and nothing can divide his true church! The gates of hell shall not prevail against his church!

Also think of it this way, if we didn’t argue and challenge some of the teachings, we might just begin to take them for granted. We might not ever come into full understanding. An arguement or disagreement can bring about a glorious reunion.

God blessed us with the freedom to choose. Then he blessed us with the “CHURCH” and all of her teachings. Science, other religions, nor any man can ever prove these teachings to be wrong. Hold on and listen when God talks to you.

**Father, I beg of you to heal the aching heart
of our prayer partner DonaNobis_Pacem.
Grant them peace within their heart and mind.
Bring them to confession so that they may
be able to receive fully the body and blood of
Jesus!

Open their mind so that they can understand
the full teaching of the Catholic Faith.
Remove all doubt and evil from their path.

I ask this in the name of Jesus!

AMEN**

Dear DonaNobisPacem,

I will certainly pray for you. Going confession and receiving the Eucharist again regularly will definitely help!

As far as those lay Catholic voices creating confusion and anxiety for you, I’d recommend watching what information you consume, because it is quite possible for people to go to extremes and deviate far from the truth and confuse others. I see this a lot in both directions - on the extreme conservative side with people who completely reject Vatican II, and on the liberal side with people who want women priests, liturgical dancers and new age junk.

Just be loyal to the Church as she is today, trusting in what Jesus said when He promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against her. Tune in to what is being said at Mass, what our Holy Father is saying, and what the Church has been teaching throughout the ages, and pay little attention to those who want to change things to suit their preferences.

May God bless you!

As for all the different Catholic voices, … follow the Pope and you’ll be all right. 🙂

Praying for you …

A portion of a psalm from today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Psalm 117 (118)

In my time of trial I called out to the Lord:
he listened, and led me to freedom.
The Lord is with me,
I will fear nothing that man can do.
The Lord, my help, is with me,
and I shall look down upon my enemies.

It is good to seek shelter in the Lord,
better than to trust in men.
It is good to seek shelter in the Lord,
better than to trust in the leaders of men.

All the nations surrounded me,
and in the Lord’s name I slew them.
They crowded in and besieged me,
and in the Lord’s name I slew them.
They surrounded me like swarms of bees,
they burned like a fire of dry thorns,
and in the Lord’s name I slew them.
They chased and pursued me, to make me fall,
and the Lord came to my help.
The Lord is my strength and my rejoicing:
he has become my saviour.

A cry of joy and salvation
in the dwellings of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand has triumphed!
The Lord’s right hand has raised me up;
the Lord’s right hand has triumphed”.

I shall not die, but live,
and tell of the works of the Lord.
The Lord chastised me severely
but did not let me die.
Open the gates of righteousness:
I will go in, and thank the Lord.

AMEN!!! I needed this too

Thank you, everyone. I will thank God every day for the love and support you have given me. I went to confession and received Holy Communion again today; for the first time, I was actually at peace after being given absolution by the friar who heard my confession (he is the pastor of the parish I attend). I’m glad that I had all of you support me and lift me up in prayer to God, our Father, and helping me to remember that He loves me and takes good care of me. I also will keep myself out of any conflicts between fellow Catholics and look to our Holy Father, as well as the Catechism, for the final word on the teachings of Holy Mother Church. ^^

Thank you ALL again for your prayers and words of kindness. Peace and all good to each of you.

“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His mercy endures forever!”

Praise our Father. I am so happy that you went and are feeling better…We’re praying for you and I lit a candle for you yesterday at mass. Keep us posted…I’m keeping you in prayers

I am continuing to keep all of you and your intentions in prayer. Still trying to focus on the voice of the Good Shepherd, Jesus our Lord, and the voice of His Vicar, our pope Benedict XVI, amidst all the voices calling to me from every side that claim they hold the “true Catholic Faith”.

I grew up during the pontificate of John Paul II (who, I believe, is indeed worthy of sainthood), and I had a great love for him because he loved youth so much. I’ll try to ask the intercession of John Paul the Great for a clearer understanding of the meaning of obedience to the teachings of Holy Mother Church. :gopray:

May God bless all of you, and I will keep upholding you in my prayers.

Yes, I too feel the same as you. It can be confusing at times. Im praying that we all come home to the true messages of God.

For your intentions…

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Okay, I know I’m reviving an old thread, but I ask once again for prayer.

I cried two nights ago after falling into sexual sin. I fell again last night, and didn’t cry, but instead felt numb. I have confessed this sin before, and I have tried…oh, how I’ve tried to overcome it, but I can’t seem to go long enough without falling again.

I feel like there’s something wrong with me that this keeps happening. Why do I have to struggle with this? I feel so miserable, and I want to try and go to confession as soon as possible, since I won’t be able to get there Saturday morning. I don’t know what else to do, because it seems like I’ve tried everything and it hasn’t worked. Maybe I’m not trying hard enough or haven’t given what methods I have tried much of a chance. In any case, I feel as though I’m too weak to overcome this.

Pray, please? T_T

I will keep you in my prayers. Don’t give up! Go to confession and keep trying. None of us are perfect. Thank God for confession!!! I have certain sins that are hard to break. I just keep praying and asking the Lord to help me. God bless you!

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
