Please pray for a young woman near death

Thank you for all who have prayed for K.

K is still pretty much as she was in the last report. It won’t be long until a week will have passed since the surgery, and she is still not able to breathe on her own, although at least she has regained consciousness.

Her doctors are still trying to raise her blood pressure (make her heart beat more strongly, I think) and help her lungs to heal from the pneumonia.

Please continue to pray for K and for her brother who generously and self-sacrificingly gave her one of his kidneys, and for all of us who pray for K, and for our families.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

K has passed from being in and out where she was mostly out, to being more awake, but she is still in the ICU. Her doctors wanted to give her a sort of localized chemo treatment when she was still in her semiconscious state, but after discussing it with her family and lawyer, it was agreed that they would try to strengthen her a bit more.

The antibiotics she is being given seem to be helping her lungs, and she may even leave the ICU this weekend and go back to her hospital room.

People wanted to give her gifts, but her family thinks donations to cancer research or a local cancer hospice would be more appropriate. Anybody here could do that too if they wished to.

I think things are actually looking up a bit again. 👍

She’s on a rocky road to be sure, but I think the care she receives and the prayers people say for her are doing some good.

I wish to thank everybody who has prayed for her, especially tbcrawford who has been so faithful to the task.

Dear Pat this is wonderful news.I know K has a long way to go yet but I continue to pray she will be healed.May God bless you and I wish you and K a very Happy and Holy Christmas

Lord thankyou that K is responding to the anitbiotics and is more alert now.We pray she will be well enough to have chem as soon as possible and that it iwll be effective.Please guide the doctors and all medical staff to have the knowledge and skills necessary to bring healing to her.We pray You would grant a miracle and K will make a complete recovery.Please bless Pat and all those who love K and bring them comfort.Lord thankyou for hearing our prayers and for Your many blessings Amen

Praying for her.
 
When I went to Mass this evening, just before I took communion I took a moment to silently read to myself from a scrap of paper all the names of those who have helped pray for K and to think of them, K, her brother, my own family, and all of those on other forums who have prayed for her.

Merry Christmas! K is awake, out of the ICU, breathing on her own (except when she sleeps) and back in her hospital room! 👍 :extrahappy:

Of course, she’s still extremely tired, but things are looking up! 🙂

A little bit of the back-story on K and her brother: when K was in her early 20s, her mother was killed by the very same cancer K is now battling. Her little brother was only about ten years old at the time, and K took over the job of raising him. He is now old enough to make decisions such as donating a kidney (which he selflessly did), assume power of attorney should K be incapacitated, and K is finally about to be married.

K, her younger brother, and her husband to be are on a rough, hard, rocky road together. They need all the prayers they can get.

Again, I thank everybody who has prayed for K, and I will continue to think of you too every time I say a prayer for K. Please continue to pray for K, her younger brother, and her husband to be (the one who gave us the latest update).

On Christmas Day, Santa visited K and gave her a stocking filled with lotions and other little things the hospital would allow. He said he remembered her from when she was visiting the little kids in the cancer ward and that she was his “little redheaded firecracker” which made her laugh. Her younger brother was very comforted by the fact that he was able to see her laughing and smiling again. A little later a priest came by and gave her a Christmas blessing prayer.

She still isn’t quite all the way off the breathing machine. Her tumors have been measured and found to be growing, although not very rapidly. She is therefore going to have localized chemo treatments although the treatments will not begin until next week, so apparently the docs think some more strengthening can take place in preference to immediate chemo.

Please keep praying for K. She’s not out of the woods yet, but she seems to be making progress one step at a time. A huge “Thank you” to all who have helped with the prayers for K.
