We lift up our intentions for all your children suffering from Alzhelimers and dementia, and ask for your mercy and blessings for each of them, their care givers, and their family members. Lord, please help ensure all the care givers and family members who tend to people in this condition are strengthened for the challenge as they care for what is a shell of the person they know and love. Please help them to treat the afflicted persons with compassion and dignity during these times of great trial and challenge in their lives. We know you love each of us, and will not give anyone more that they can bear, so we ask you to continue to help all of us to share your love with these suffering persons in these most difficult times. Please help the family members to remain united and to respect the care givers who face the greatest challenge in these situations.

Praying for all those who suffer from Alzheimers and dementia, and for all those who love and care for them as family, friends and professional carers.
 
My grandmother passed away at 99 1/2 this December. For 10 years I watched Alzheimer’s rob her of her memories. It is a brutal disease. I was grateful for the time I had with her and even when she could no longer form full sentences and her memories seemed to be gone, I still was grateful I could make her laugh or smile. I was also grateful to God that I was able to visit with her with my father who spent 2 days a week with her faithfully and would sing to her. Remarkably, she could remember songs. I cherish those God given moments.
It is a difficult thing for all of those involved.
May those who care for those with Alzheimer’s have patience and strength to endure this terrible disease. May those who suffer not be forgotten (I watched many family members of my own just abandon my grandmother because she didn’t remember them).
May a cure be found.
My prayers this evening will include a special prayer for all that suffer.
