I am having one of those days where I am having a hard time dealing w/ disappointment in my marriage. I had prayed a novena to Sts.Monica and Therese to help my husband, and to help me deal w/ our difference w/ grace and give me peace until then. Did okay for about a week.

I do this to myself where a bad day equals no hope for the future - to be a SAHM, to get a bigger home to have more kids . . .I gave DH the 3rd degree as graciously as possible and voiced my fear and sadness about our future if he does not seek some direction for his future - either a degree or a promotion. All in all, I’m having a hard time dealing w/ not being able to count on him to take care of us and always having to pick up the slack one way or another. I hate to ‘say’ this out loud, I know it’s aweful, but he is not the kind of person I had hoped to be married to - I want him to be the spiritual leader of our family, the breadwinner, and to work as hard as me or more.

Took my lunch to go to the sitter and give DS his breathing treatment for bronchiolitis (we’re on the upswing of recovery), and swung by the house to check on a package and lo and behold (to no surprise), DH is still in bed. He says he doesn’t feel well, but after about 5 years of this, I truly believe it can be helped - by quitting smoking, eating better, exercising, and getting to bed at a decent hour.

I’m just so sad and tired and I need strength to carry on for my children. Just one of them days I guess. Also, feeling reluctant to put my prayers in the book at our Adoration chapel or simply to face the crowds at church - feeling ashamed and a big ‘I told ya so’ hanging over me right now like my marriage/family is a sham.

JLCecilia:

I’m praying for you and your husband.

Live the example of Christ at home and pray for both of you at home.

Prayerfully,

Renato

Pray for your husband. Pray, pray, pray, pray, pray.

I will pray for you and your husband as well.

Praying for your intentions.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

:gopray: Father God grants this Your servant a respite from the depression that has come upon her. We pray for change in her life in the form of her dh maturing and taking on more responsibility for the family. Continue to strength this dw who is trying so hard. Let not her sacrifices go unrewarded. Please continue the endurance she ,no doubts has to,care for a family

May The Blessed Mother pray for us all

Jesus please help this hardworking mother who seems to have one extra child in the family. Please help her husband, for his own sake as well as the family, to become mature and responsible and less selfish in how he lives his life. Please help his wife to be strong and not to lose hope. Bless her for all that she is and that she does for her family.

Keep praying and hoping for a great future with your husband, He will learn more by your example of being a good spouse, I prayed for my husband to become the spiritual leader of our home and to come to mass and pray with me because he never did and then I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and now I have teh husband that I prayed for, he goes to mass, he has become more spiritual, more attentive and a great leader for our sons, but after 27 years of marriage I only get to experience the last three of this and my cncer is continuing to spread and the dr. say I do not have much time left. So we enjoy all the time we have now but I would rather die with my husband being the man God intended him to be than one I didn’t want. Good prayers to you and I hope all turns well, Pray for your husband constantly and we will pray for you;)

Dear JLCecilia,

It sounds like you’re disappointed with your marriage and husband. I would like to say that your husband is showing classic signs of depression himself (“quitting smoking, eating better, exercising, and getting to bed at a decent hour”), but I’m not a doctor…so I pray that you will have the strength and will to find a Catholic theraipst.

Father, Lord God of all creation, take JL and Mr. JL into your hands.

As a married couple, they represent Your relationship to Your Church. Help them to treat each other with the forgiveness that You have shown to Your people. The way that your people have disappointed You, Father, does not mean that you took your love away from them.

Bless them with kindness for each other.

Let each other’s hearts be softened for each oher.

Let them stop dancing around issues, nagging each other, and being passive-agressive toward each other.

Prepare them both for the transformation you can and will bring into their lives, as long as they’re willing to cooperate with Your divine will and heavenly grace.

Bless them with acceptance and the peace that only You can give.

Let them both want to be a part of each other’s lives again, one flesh in You.

Let them put their own fears, hurts, and worries to rest and lean together on You.

Give them the humility to see themselves through each other’s eyes.

May they both experience:
a conversion of heart,
a rededication to their vocations,
a willingness to endure the transformative power of Your Holy Spirit,
acquiescence to Your will,
and a period of integrating all they have learned in the past to make a better future for their family
in order to bring You glory and praise, Almighty Father.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

St. Joseph, embrace Mr. DL.
St. Rita, embrace DL.
intercede for them before the Throne of the Author of Life,
Amen.

I’m praying for you and all who are having depression in their marriage situation.
