O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity.
O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power.
O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen.

Thank you for your continuing faithful prayers!

Fr. B’s pulmonary edema has worsened and he will likely return to the hospital for further testing. Depending upon what the specialists conclude, he may need to remain in care, either at the hospital or in rehab, for a while longer. We have been able to convince him, for now, to peacefully accept this possibility.

I should know more within 48 hours. Thank you again.

Prayer During a Serious Illness

Oh Lord Jesus Christ,
who during your brief life on earth went about doing good for all,
be merciful to Fr. B in this time of special need.

Divine Physician,
whose tender heart was moved by the sight of pain and affliction,
we beg of you, if it be Your holy will,
to restore Father to good health.

Stretch forth your hand to all who suffer,
and grant to Fr. B that peace which You alone can give.

Amen.

O God, who didst crush the pride of the enemy by the long-suffering of Thine Only-begotten Son: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may worthily recall those things which in His tender love He bore for us; and thus following His example may patiently endure all our adversities. Amen.

PRAYER TO
OUR LADY OF LOURDES

O ever Immaculate Virgin,
Mother of Mercy,
Health of the Sick,
Refuge of Sinners,
Comfortress of the Afflicted,
You know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings;
Deign to cast upon me a look of Mercy

By appearing in the grotto of Lourdes
You were pleased to make it
A privileged sanctuary
From where you dispense your favors,
And where many sufferers have obtained
The cure of their infirmities,
Both spiritual and corporal

I come, therefore,
With unbounded confidence
To implore your maternal intercession
Obtain, O loving Mother, my requests
I will endeavor to imitate your virtues,
That I may one day share your glory
And bless you in eternity.

Amen

Thank you for the update on Father B.

Fr. B is still in rehab but will be transferred on Tuesday to a specialist clinic for in-depth testing and examination of his pulmonary edema in order to determine the best course of remedial action. The edema continues to worsen, but its rate of degeneration is slow enough that waiting until Tuesday should not endanger him. He seems to be holding on to the idea that he will return to the rectory by next Friday, but given his condition it is impossible for him to know that for certain at this time.

In addition, Father’s mental confusion increases each day and his morale is starting to crumble. I’m truly concerned. 😦

Thank you for continuing to pray for Fr. B.

Prayer for the Recovery of a Sick Person

Having been discharged from rehab yesterday morning, Fr. B is back in the rectory now. He spent midday today at yet another hospital for a thoracentesis to drain his pulmonary edema, so at least that problem has been solved. On the other hand, he’s overwhelmed by the mountain of medication he needs to take, and his mental confusion has deepened. It often takes him several long seconds to find the words he means to speak. Hopefully he’ll be able to rest over the next several weeks and be more fully functional when school starts up again in early September.

Thank you for continuing to pray for Fr. B.

It must be very disorienting to be back home after being in the hospital for so long. Praying that he will continue to recovery slowly but surely…

Indeed, wild thing. I was perturbed after three days in the hospital…I can only imagine how Father feels.

We have a visiting priest with us who will relieve Father of much of his service for the next two months. Having arrived yesterday afternoon, this priest is living with Fr. B in the rectory, so he can help out with the steadily growing stream of people contacting him by phone or in person now that news of his return has spread. I’m grateful for Fr. T’s presence and hope it means Fr. B can have a good measure of peace and rest during the summer months, which are generally calmer than the rest of the year.

Your ongoing prayers, and those of everyone praying for Fr. B, are much needed and much appreciated. :thankyou:
