Dear Pause:

Please don’t disrespect our prayers and our Catholic faith. That is what this thread is for. Clearly, you are not Catholic nor should you be as you have no faith in the Church’s teachings (prayer, to name one).

Anyway, maybe you should take your anti-Catholicism critique somewhere else - to another thread - where that topic is debated.

Good luck in your search for Truth!🙂

Praying for him now.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
AMEN

I am Catholic and I do attend mass infrequently (approximately once a month). I describe myself as non-practising because I’m not fervent.
This is the whole problem with the Catholic Church- it is too rigid and focused upon irrelevancy such as decorum and reverence etc.
The real issues are forgotten.
My interest in this thread stems from the fact Marilyn Manson is my idol and yet I’m Catholic and not immoral (at least not outrageously immoral)

Is Manson incompatible with Catholicism?

If I’m voicing my opinions in the wrong part of the forum I apologise…I’m sure you can appreciate the disorienting effect when you join a big forum like this. I’ll get the hang of it soon 🙂

Thanks for being somewhat honest…by saying you are non-practicing.

What do you consider not outrageously immoral??

Manson is incompatible with morality.

.

I would think that Manson is not to be affiliated with Christianity in general since he practices satanism, as you have earlier posted. He does need prayers - prayers to convert from his evil ways to the Light.

God bless!🙂

Satanism is not necessarily evil. Saying Satanism is evil is tantamount to calling Protestants evil for having different beliefs.
In this age of ecumenism are you a sectarian?

Manson’s version of Satanism involves the exaltation of the individual over that of the herd. Jesus would admire Manson in this respect, and would chastise him only for his athiesm. Athiesm is a venal sin in my opinion

By your standards sex outside marriage is immoral.
Murder is outrageously immoral.

Manson’s drug-taking is probably immoral, but is a minor transgression. His behaviour to others is what matter- that is Christian philosophy

ooooo, I think you’re overlooking Manson’s transgressions a bit too much. Yes, sex outside marriage is immoral and against the Church (and Bible).😦

By God’s standard… sex outside marriage is immoral.

Do you agree with God, with Manson’s Individualism, or do you just do as you please?

Anything to do with Satan is to do with evil. Anything to do with God is good.

Satan and God are at opposite positions. You have your free choice to accept or deny… but without a well-formed conscience, you may be in need of more prayers than your idol.

The only prayers MM or you deserve are prayers that you get closer to God.

Maybe but is it seriously adhered to? Spitting chewing gum on the street is illegal but you will not get a jail sentence for it.

The bible rates masturbation as WORSE than soliciting prostitutes (I’ll get the precise quotation if you want…something about it being better for the seed of man to enter a harlot than fall to the ground)

It’s funny…I doubt you can name one transgression of Manson’s that is outside Church teaching. Name one
Drug-taking doesn’t count because alcohol, caffeine and nicotine are drugs and yet aren’t contrary to Catholic teachings

I do what is right

Satan was an angel

The reason Satanism was chosen as hte title is because in Christianity Satan is represented by carnal desire. Satanists don’t deny themselves those pleasures

I would just like to add that Manson unusual outlook and personality is a direct result of his over-strict Christian schooling.

You’re scaring me. I agree with the other poster that both you and Manson need prayers. I will pray for you both. God’s blessings upon you!🙂

p.s. the body is a temple of God (that’s from the Bible)😃

Well you know religion is a scary topic. You seem to have devoted a large portion of your life to God (I read your biography). I don’t wish to destroy that. I just wish to suggest to you that things aren’t so clear cut Good versus Bad.

Events described in the Bible never happened and “the word of the Lord” is reported by people who quote from memory. Luke, John, Matthew and marks gospels probably reflect their PERSONAL morality and not that intended by God.

You say you seek the truth about God and that you wish to broaden your understanding of faith…yet you disregard everything that doesn’t harmonise with your version of orthodoxy. Now that’s scary

I am 17 btw 😃 so I’m supposedly “impressionable”

Pause,
Yes, you are impressionable and a little ignorant regarding many things about the Catholic faith. That comes with research and time. AND faith, of course. Since you’re only 17, you have a lot of life’s experiences ahead of you. You’re on your way in YOUR search for the truth, I can tell. Good luck with that!😉

Of course I know relatively little about Catholicism. But remember that in Ireland we are completely immersed in this faith mandatorily. (that’s changing thank…God :D)

I don’t like what Catholicism stands for, the evil it brings out in people and its intent to strip pleasure from life. I do, however, believe in God

Obviously you have been damaged emotionally and spiritually by people affiliated with the Church. I’m sure Manson was too. When one is hurt in this way by people who are supposed to represent Christ the effects can be devastating. I can understand your position here and do not wish to do violence against it. But do not close your mind completely to the concerns that these people have for the souls of Manson and yourself. There is no inherent evil in concentrated prayer for the good of souls.
Too often when a person has a very negative experience they swing too far to the opposite end of the spectrum to sort of make up for it. One can be too closed minded as well as too open minded and the balance between the two can be very elusive. I know nothing about your spiritual life and can make no judgment about it. God knows where you are and where he wants you to be and as long as you believe in Him and keep that relationship alive, I have confidence that He is guiding you every step of the way. We do not always understand the workings of the hand of God, but His hand is always there never the less. I wish you all the best on your spiritual journey! Peace!

Please pray for this guy, there’s something about him that makes me a bit sad. I was reading some stuff about him and felt the urge to say a quick prayer for him.

For those who don’t know, Marilyn Manson is a rather strange musician with who I believe has been called the ‘Reverend Marilyn Manson of the Church of Satan’.

😦

Please pray for him and those who “follow” him.

It would be quite something to see, him converting to Catholicism…

With God, anything is possible:)
He is in my prayers.

Paul
