Are you in hospital and if so, can you ask the priest who is hospital chaplain (or the local priest who makes hospital visits) to come chat with you on a weekly basis?

In my case as an adult convert to Catholicism, actually meeting and talking to real Catholics was an important part of the jump from ‘thinking’ about Catholicism to actually moving into it. I wonder if on that angle of things (not related to your illness, but related to your being in a ‘still weighing it up’ place), it make help you make a movement, to start having a relationship with real Catholics (starting with a priest or any local group of Catholics you have access to).

I hope your doctors and nurses find your cure! And in the meantime, I mean this suggestion with love: looking after your spiritual life might benefit from further progress too, and maybe the time is right to try something new? And talk to your local priest about what he thinks your next step might be (no commitment to come get chrism oil on your face same day or anything) as you continue to explore Catholicism?

Old quote I like: “Be braver. You can’t cross a chasm in two small jumps.”

Without knowing what, specifically, is the jump that you need to make right now – in my experience, making jumps from thought to action are important along a journey, and can often provide new data without which we couldn’t have had important subsequent thoughts.
