I prefer to see it as good. 😃
I’ll go with that. 😉

What a go we’ve had the last few days, though … not with Cosmo.

About 6 weeks ago, Morris started piddling in inappropriate places - destroyed my computer monitor, a ton of computer books and the shelves they were on, and of course, there’s all the bedding and furniture and on and on … so he went to the vet’s at the time, was diagnosed as having urinary crystals, went on special food and antibiotics, and things were getting better.

The last week has been hideous, though - finding pee all OVER the place, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. We blamed Morris, of course, and on December 23, I took him to be boarded at the vet’s for a couple of days - the vet thought it might sort of ‘break the urge’.

December 24, I think everything remained ‘dry’. Morris is still on a hunger strike at the vet’s.

December 25, Hobbes (who recently had 4 infected teeth pulled and his infected rump glands dealt with) comes downstairs and starts howling at the wall - and he normally doesn’t meow. He’s feverish. There’s a fresh piddle on the kitty beds. I whisk him off to the vet for tests, and bring Morris home - Hobbes stays the night. Morris is ecstatic to be home.

December 26: 2 piddled-up kitty beds greet us in the morning, and someone has peed all over the couch, the bench beside it, and the wall. We’ve hit the end of our rope - some days, we’re up doing laundry until 3am. So I go to the shelter we originally ‘fostered’ Morris from (and kept him, for 2 years), and ask what to do. The shelter lady tells me to give Morris to her - he’ll live in her house, not the shelter, and if she can’t cure his urge to pee outside the box, so be it - she’ll just clean up and move on. So, with buckets of remorse and tears, I deliver Morris to her that afternoon, and bring Hobbes home. We still don’t have his blood and urine results back yet, but his x-rays were fine.

Today: Mum goes out for a bit while I’m at work, and someone has a MASSIVE pee all over one of the foam footstools. (Hobbes always has tiny pees. Always.) This evening, everyone’s asleep, and Hobbes has been out cold in my bedroom for an hour when Otis comes slinking into my room, looking very guilty. Upstairs I go, and sure enough - a warm, fresh one all over the cat’s daybed and 2 kitty beds.

So off to the vet HE goes … and one of his kidneys is enlarged to five times its regular size, with something around it that could be a tumour. We’ll know for sure tomorrow, when the blood tests and urinalysis come back.

And meanwhile, poor unjustly-accused Morris is at the shelter, wondering what the heck he did wrong.

I’m sorry to hear about all the trouble you’ve been having. I’ll pray that everything works out ok with all your cats. Will you be getting Morris back?

Yes, I definitely think we should … poor Morris. 😦 I couldn’t reach the shelter lady via phone, so I’ve just emailed her now … I hope we haven’t messed the poor guy up emotionally too bad.

I just feel sick about this.

I hope you get him back soon. Let me know what happens.

Aww, no. laughing It’s true!
(Didn’t the two chipmunks, Chip ‘n’ Dale, used to do this? 😃 )
Yes, they did. Constantly complimenting each other, and neither one willing to accept a compliment. I used to love those cartoons. 🙂

They were great … SO cute. I just loved the idea of ultra-polite chipmunks. 😃

Argh, it’s late - time for the bath, and Sabu the kitten needs to be settled down before he’ll sleep. I think it’s going to be a long day tomorrow.

Goodnight, my dear, and I hope you sleep well - thank you again for being so comforting!

God bless,

Deb

You’re welcome. Sleep well and God bless. 🙂

I’m sorry, if anyone feels it’s inappropriate to pray for animals, I certainly understand, and don’t mean to offend you.

But my dear 10-year-old Cosmo has had issues for quite a few months, getting horribly anemic and not eating or drinking on his own for the longest time. I’ve slowly nursed him to where he’s put on weight, recovered from the anemia, and eats at least a bit of dry food (I give him tons of tinned food, and water through a syringe), and last night he was finally able to go to the vet to have his teeth cleaned - which is, we believe, the reason he had all this other trouble, because his teeth were in very bad shape.

His teeth were done at 11pm last night; I picked him up today at 5pm, and … well, I don’t know if he’s had a stroke, is just having a hard time recovering from the anaesthetic, or what. At the vet, his legs just give out underneath him, one at a time … or he’ll walk, but one or more legs just stay still until he does a face plant on the ground. He doesn’t seem to be feeling his legs properly. At home he’s even worse - he just goes round and round in circles, falling down.

He’s back at the vet now, on IV fluids (he’s a fragile cat, so perhaps he’s dehydrated, and that wouldn’t help).

Please pray that dear little Cosmo will either be okay, or if he can’t be, that he at least dies painlessly in his sleep. He won’t be able to survive at home otherwise. And he’s such a dear little fellow - he mothers all our other cats.

Thank you so much. 😦
Oh i am so sorry to have read what you and your kitty are going through. My love and prayers are with you and your kitty my friend.

Thank you, dear! 🙂

Not much to report … the lab results still aren’t in for Otis, he won’t eat (even though I made a second trip there to bring him his favourite food… maybe he’s feeling queasy), I still can’t reach the cat shelter lady by phone, and she hasn’t answered my email.

It appears we have to wait! 🤷

Aww, thank you, dear! :hug3: Cosmo is doing very well now (the thread has probably become far too long for you to see that) - he came home Christmas eve, and while he’s evidently still blind in that one eye, he moves around VERY well, eats and drinks nonstop, and is DEFINITELY on the mend. We are so very grateful!

On a less positive side, one of my other cats (Otis) is at the vet’s now with a massively enlarged kidney, and possibly cancer. We won’t know what to expect until his test results come back tomorrow. And unfortunately, we had no idea he had a problem until we were able to figure out HE was the one that had been peeing all over the house … 2 days after we’d given the cat we THOUGHT was to blame (Morris) back to the cat shelter we got him from. And I haven’t been able to reach the shelter owner to get him back. It’s been quite a week. :ouch:

Okay I can’t resist…

Bless us Oh Lord and these thy gifts which we are about to  … oops. wrong prayer.

Have you ever done that before? Pray the wrong prayer without relizing it. It’s like going to the movie dipping you hand in the old time ashtrays and genuglecting at the rows of chairs you’re about to sit in.😃 I’ve done all the above.

We have to cats…St. Francis is very present in the home…our Parish priests are Franciscan Friars…but they see it as I do to. We love animals…but they do not nor ever should take priority over people…especially children. I’m not a mushy kind of guy when it comes to cats. I’m the idiot that loves the books on 101 uses for cats. But I would never do any of it and I would defend the animal is someone tried to do one of those things. My dear sweet wife [cat lubber] swares that my guardian angel is probabaly a girl [insenuating that girls typically love cats] and that is why they like to come to me so much. I try to stay away from them… Even got disappointed that I wasn’t allergic to them when tested. But I love my wife and my oldest boy [discerning a Franciscan priest vocation] even if they love the cats so much. My son’s friends tease him…and he play tackle in football…not a fragile boy or overly sensitive boy.

Hope your cat is doing well. I have lit a candle for him tonight in union with you…since you have a soul your will is for the cat to get better. Animals are a gift from God and they bring such comfort and joy in our most difficult times.

St. Pio Pray for us
Franciscan Saints [to many to name]…Pray for us.

I do it a lot - and then feel I have to continue because it’s just wrong to cut off, mid-prayer, and switch to a different one … then I’m confused and can’t remember which prayer I’d originally meant to say!

You know you’re Catholic when … 😃

I agree with that … we make sure we’re taken care of first, although in areas like having free time and getting enough rest, we’re guilty of putting the cats first if they’re sick.

laughing That one was actually hilarious!

I think cats just like doing it to annoy you. 😉

Aww, bless him - he has my support. You must be so proud!

laughing Just a big softy when it comes to cats!

That is so very, very kind of you, my dear … thank you, and bless you for your prayers and for writing!

:blessyou:

St. Jude, patron of hopeless causes, please help dear Cosmo recover. St. Joseph, patron of happy death, if poor Cosmo does not make it, take him to his father in heaven, for God created animals and man.

Bless you, dear! Wee Cosmo is well and truly on the mend - we’re still praying for the vision to return to his afflicted eye, but in a lot of ways he’s doing better than he was before the stroke!

:blessyou:

Oh dear…it is no wonder you and i are friends, for the love of critters makes us hole! i think it is very good this thread has been kept up. Us critter lovers need prayers and support too. Funny imagine that more than a year has past since God sent me here to this wonderful site. You and i met regarding the smilies request. i was blessed that day as i am now.

i shall always keep Otis and all your kitties in my prayers along with you and your momma. This site as brought me such joy and many new friends sigh*.
