Hi everyone. I attended a vocation retreat this weekend, and it was with a religious order that I am very fond of and very much want to be a part of. However, before I left, I asked God to speak to me through the Sister who is the Vocation Director and through prayer. I wanted very much to know His will. It was a weekend free of distractions as we were not permitted to use cell phones, email, computers, tv, etc. So I believed I would hear Him. Through all of my prayers in the chapel of the convent, I heard Him speak to my heart and tell me that He desires me to wait for a few years before entering, but I had an inclination that He will invite me back to this particular order. I loved my time there and it began a desire to live the apostolates that they do, and so I am looking for a way to work similar to them. The vocation director also mentioned that I would need to wait a few more years before I could consider entry because of my previous history with depression (10 years) and the fact that I’ve only been off medication for a year is not really enough time to gauge whether or not I could go without it for life. I tried to keep my heart entirely open and not take offense to what she was saying, and I realize there are many things I need to work on before becoming a religious Sister, especially in my personal life. I very much want to obey the will of God and so if He is asking me to wait, I will wait. Please pray for my discernment. Thank you and God bless.
