Keep the faith, Chris! Chemo took me almost to the point of death, as was planned, but that is necessary to ensure that as much of the cancer is killed as possible, without also killing the patient. The side effects can be terrible and it may tear your heart out to see your father suffer. Yet, I have found that it is far worse to watch suffering than it is to suffer. And, without suffering, we would have no hope of salvation. It has a reason, and is purifying your father, both for this life, and life eternal in the Lord’s presence. He remains in daily prayer.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal my father,Manuel. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into his body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for his creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I ask you to obtain for me the favors that I seek a miracle healing from cancer for my father, Manuel. The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, even so, you are the Saint of Miracles.
O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was full of sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Infant Jesus, who loved to be held in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever by yours. Amen.

**Sweet Infant Jesus, You best and only hope of afflicted souls, I prostrate myself at your feet and ask You, through your immeasurable love and grace, by which you did visit Your blessed servant St. Anthony, and comfort and embrace him, to come to me at his intercession and let me taste how sweet Your presence is to the souls that trust in You. Amen **

Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my father shall be healed.
