Heavenly Father
Please watch over John & Cassie, fill their hearts with hope and profound trust in you. Never let them go but shelter them in your heart. Flood their lives with your grace and mercy. Grant them strength, sufficient for each day. Bless them and pour out your divine love upon them. In all things help them to turn to you, safe in the knowledge that you love them unconditionally and that your mercy is ever overflowing. Thank you for their faith, renew it and strengthen it every day. Unite them to yourself and grant them your deep, abiding peace
Amen

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Thank you all for your continued prayers.

I went to a support group last night and it was okay. I think I am getting more out of going to therapy than the support group, but I have only gone once so I am not going to quit just yet. I had a hard time finding one that was Christian based but I did.

John and I continue to talk everyday and he was worried when he couldn’t get a hold of me last night. I told him that I went to a support group and it was a spur of the moment decision and it lasted longer than I thought it would and by the time it got over with he had already gone to bed. I told him I am not sure this group is for me but I willing to give it a chance. I did not want to go to a group where all they did was bash their spouses for things that had gone wrong. I don’t feel like that and it doesn’t solve anything being bitter towards the other, it lets what they are doing control your life. I know God doesn’t make mistakes, He makes learning and growth experiences. I am trying very hard to look at this as a growing experience. I know that if I follow His way and trust in Him that I will find true happiness.

I know that I have written before that I was not a very religious person before this so I am viewing this as a chance to get closer to God. I have discovered that I always put other’s needs before mine even when they could do it on their own, I had no boundaries. It is good to help out our neighbor in a time of crisis, but they also have to be willing to carry their own load. I love John with all my heart and have put his wants and needs before my own even when it has been something that I really did not want to do. I pray that this marriage will heal, that we both may heal and become stronger as a couple. There is nothing impossible with God. If this divorce goes through I know that I have tried and will be at peace with it even though it will hurt for awile. The fact that John does not want to lose me as his best friend makes me know that God is working on him, I just have to stand back and let God continue.

Sorry for being so long, but I see so many posts on the forum about marriages in crisis that it makes me want to reach out and let all of you know that you are not alone in what you are going through. May the Lord be with you!

Merciful Father, grant them the patience to endure this test, and the desire to rekindle the love which drew them together and kept them together all of these years. Amen!

Thank you Cassie for the update. Surely God is working out for both of you.
Praying

My dear friend. Just said my prayers for you and John. Your last post sounds almost like I am reading my life…I am glad you said what you did about Therapy. I am trying to find a Catholic based therapy program near here (I cannot afford much…in fact…In truth I cannot afford anythng at all)…BUT I’ll keep searching and know our God will lead me to something. You are so amazing in your continued quest and i admire your courage and strength…I love you my friend. Continued prayers promised. Diane

Keeping you and John in my prayers…Daily and always. May God show you the Way and praying for John to see the Light.
My dear friend…i love you always.
Diane

Thank you all for your prayers!

I have sad news. I got the final divorce judgement in the mail yesterday signed by the judge. I can’t believe how fast it went but since John and I agreed on everything before hand there was no need for a hearing or a trial. I sat in my car and cried. I knew this was coming but seeing it on paper and finalized is so hard. I called John and left a message to call me when he could talk. He called me later last night and asked what was wrong since it sounded like I was crying on the phone. I told him that I got the finalized papers and that we are now both single. He was very quiet and started crying too. He asked me why I didn’t try harder and I said I have been, but it’s not all my fault. He told me he hasn’t been feeling good for weeks both mentally and physically. He said he needs time to find out if this is the biggest mistake he ever made and said he had to go because his phone was losing charge. I pray that God be with John during this difficult time. We both confessed to one another that we still love each other very much. I know there is a reason for this, but it hurts so much right now. I have not taken my wedding ring off yet, I just feel that I can’t.

Your prayers have helped me through this and I know there are many more out there that are going through similar situations. I haven’t lost hope since I know God has a plan for me even though I may not like it right now. I will continue to pray for all who are going through relationship problems. May the Lord give you courage, wisdom and strength to get through. God Bless.

MY Dear friend. YOU did not do anything wrong. You have to realize that you did everything in this world and were led by God through the proper actions. You gave it your all. You gave more of yourself than ever before try and make it work. I’ve been in your shoes. In fact…the words you wrote were exactly the way I felt. I took it a step further and started blaming God. THAT IS WRONG…and I think you said you were seeing a therapist…It is not God’s fault and definitely NOT YOURS. Someday, somehow, somewhere when you least expect it your life will be restored and you will rebound with abundant joy. After 23 years of marriage to my first husband, he dumped me for someone prettier (and younger)…I was amazed he had been seeing her for years and I never knew it .I never saw the signs or suspected anything. THEN I met Joe who is wonderful, caring and most of all he loves God above all else…My eyes are welling up with tears for you but I am not sure they are tears of sadness…I think God is bringing me tears of joy for you to finally be released of this heavy burden you have given 110% of your self and tried to hold on to. I LOVE YOU myf riend. Remember you are not the only one in the world this has ever happened to (that’s what I first thought after 23 years)…You will go through all the normal emotional stages denial, anger, etc. If I was wrong about your seeing a therapist…PLEASE find one now. Find a good Catholic charities that will help you…The struggle is long and will be hard on you emotionally but someday it will suddenly end and you will find your days filled with joy and love…I love you. God Loves You. and I can’t possibly cound the number of CAF persons that love you as well. I’m here for you day or night if you want to pm me. I will even give you my phone number by pm if you want to talk. Don’t be down on yourself. PLEASE…I love you and keep you in my prayers. I’m keeping your ex in my prayers too…all my love and prayers. Diane

Oh Cassie,

My heart goes out to you! YOu will be at the top of my intentions during my rosary today!

Love,
Judi

My dear Cassie,

I am so sorry to hear about the finalization of the divorce. Please remember what others have said you are not at fault; you did all you could to change and grow. I am greatly disturbed about John and his mental state. We all need to continue to pray for his safety and pray for his salvation. For what its worth, I am so proud of how you are handling this. You are so strong and grounded even if you don’t feel like it when you are sitting in the car crying. You have come to the realization that God is with you through this situation. In my humble opinion, it is more of a miracle when God sees us through a tough situation instead of removing the situation. Please continue to go to therapy you will continue to grow and be able to work through the guilt and anger you feel. Remember that everyone one here on the boards loves you and cares deeply about you and John.

I am sorry to hear about the divorce. But like you have said…nothing is impossible for the Lord.

I would continue to seek the Lord as you are. His love goes a long way. And he will guide you to be the woman your husband needs. Forgiving, understanding, compassionate. And allow Him to work on your husband. Unfortunately, if your husband does not seek him he will fall and stumble untill he is willing to give himself to the Lord. Then my friend…he will be ready for you.

So prepare yourself for whatever is to come. Being with the Lord… time is not a waste.

Love you my friend. You are a great woman for wanting to value a man despite his faults. (God loves you for that!)

Cheryl,

I just read you last post and I just want to let you know that I am praying that God holds you in His loving arms and sends His angels to comfort and strengthen you.

I too will have your intentions in my rosary prayers tonight.

Cassie, I’m so sorry to hear bad news from you but I do believe that there’s a reason behind it as you said. Praying

It’s almost midnight here but I wanted to let you know you are in my prayers. Diane
