I need everyone’s prayers for me and my battle with my weight. I do not want to gain any more, and am doing a diet as well as exercising, and I’d just like to be prayed for strength, courage, commitment and willpower… all these I can get with help from the Lord.

Thanks.

I lost over 65 pounds in over 5 years by just exercising and cutting down the foods I ate. Try to eat more vegetables and fruits and cut down on the starches and drinking 32 onces of water a day that helps a lot as well when trying to lose weight as well lots of water. Good luck and I will pray for you Stevia is a great natural sweetner get off the artificial sweetners they are bad for you it has zero calories and it is natural for you in a health food store you can find it.

You Got It!

Father, provide your servant with willpower and strength to maintain a healthy diet and exercise in order to lose weight. Hold her up with your Holy Hands during her time of struggling. In Jesus name… AMEN

Thank you sooooo much. I am so thankful for CAF.

great big hugs

I was always a “skinny” but in middle age gained 30 pounds in a couple of years. I took it off by counting calories (gasp! how UNFASHIONABLE!). I did not exercise – other than needlepoint.

Because I was born skinny, maybe I don’t “get it” about “battles” with weight. I have this simplistic idea that if you eat only as much as you burn, you won’t pack it on. I understand that this is a flawed formula.

Anyway, what it took in my case was real desire and ruthless attention. I calculated how many calories it takes to maintain my desired weight for age, body type, and exercise level, then took 200 calories off of that for my M-F ration. That left me 1000 calories to spend on a glass of wine & a dessert on weekends. Took 5 months to drop the weight. That was 7 years ago.

Now: I WILL add your intentions to my prayer list because I know this is a HUGE deal for millions of people.

For me, part of the scheme involved** never using the “D” word.** I just wanted to be able to get back into my size twos (from not being able to zip up my size eights).

The only program that helped me lose a great deal of weight was Atkins. I was successful whilst on it prior to getting pregnant with my son in 2004. I dropped 53 lbs, dropped many a pant size, and felt great… but deprived from some of the no-no carby foods.

So I am trying to do the Light Weigh principles (no groups in Sweden as it’s American based) and keeping my portions small and keeping a pedometer on me to make me get up to 10,000 steps a day.

I know that even dropping 2 pounds boosted my happy meter. I hope it will for you, too. God bless you.

Oh. One more thing I did that a lot of people say you shouldn’t do. I weighed myself twice a day. Sometimes the difference over one week was only half a pound. But if you lose half a pound a week for a year, you’ve dropped 25 pounds.

I’d be happy with a 1-2 lb loss a week or every other week 🙂 I’m praying and working hard… I don’t want to gain any more… I don’t want to have any health probs down the road, I have little boy to think of and hubby too…

I will be keeping you in prayer for strength, courage, commitment and willpower. I know how you feel, I am on medication that has side effects of a craving for carbohydrates and a dreadful dry mouth, and I am so far overweight now its not funny - also I gave up smoking 11 months ago and miss my best pal!
I dont toss in the towel and give up on my weight, I keep trying and praying…Barb

I truly pray that God will be with you through this struggle. My wife and I are going to try to get back on a diet track soon as well. We both have been struggling with our weight for a long time. I’ll be praying for ya.

Maybe a paradigm shift would help. Stop thinking of it as a “battle”. Think of it as re-setting the clock. My husband just got a birthday card with a quotation from George Eliot:

It’s never too late to become what you might have been.

God love ya!

Yes it’s been quite a ´´battle of the buldge´´ as they say… and I know know know this is just one of the crosses I have to bear… and with the Lord’s help, I can beat this thing.

And with your prayers, I really think it’ll keep me going and NOT give up.

How’s it going, Heather?

Have you had yourself checked out by a doctor to see whether there might be an underlying problem that is making this difficult for you? Are you depressed? A little exercise can help with depression, BTW.

Once you get clearance, then you can KNOW that your difficulties are not physical and you can more freely adopt a “no-whining” policy about this and “forgetting what lies behind, press on toward your goal” – to paraphrase Paul.
